Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch Sold to Billionaire Ron Burkle

The asking price of the Neverland property was $100 million in 2016 then dropped to $67 million a year later. In addition to a 12,500 square-foot main residence and a 3,700 square-foot pool house, the property boasts a separate building with a 50-seat movie theater and a dance studio. Other features on the ranch are a “Disney-style” train station, a fire house and barn. Burkle’s spokesman said the billionaire had been eyeing Zaca Lake — which adjoins the property — for a new Soho House, a members-only club with locations in Los Angeles, Miami, New York and Toronto. Burkle ultimately decided the location was too remote and expensive for a club. Burkle is the controlling shareholder of Soho House. After Burkle saw the property from the air, he put in an offer to...

Billboard to Temporarily Pause Social 50 Chart

The chart is scheduled to return at an undetermined time early in the new year. Billboard will not be publishing the Social 50 chart, our ranking of the most-engaged-with musician accounts on social media, for an undetermined period of time as we transition to a new data partner. Billboard is currently in talks to revive the Social 50 via a new data partner, with a planned return set for early 2021. The suspension of the Social 50 will also affect the data formula of Billboard’s Artist 100 and Emerging Artists charts, which have utilized social media data in addition to their other metrics of radio airplay, streams and album/song sales. Those charts will not be paused during the Social 50’s break from publishing. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. So we r...

Tim McGraw wrote a heartfelt message to the city on Saturday (Dec. 26): “Trying to find the words….but this is a tough one,” he tweeted. “Yesterday, on Christmas Morning, the world watched as Nashville was hit by another tragedy. It’s been a year….but we will rise again.” “Grateful for the first responders who spent Christmas morning on one of our toughest years ensuring that no lives were lost. We are bruised, but not broken. Praying for my city and hopeful that we will find the strength to rise once again with the dawning of a New Year,” McGraw continued. “Tough year for Nashville,” Brad Paisley said Friday night. “Be safe everyone.” Early Friday morning, Cassadee Pope posted an update from Nashville, writing, “Our house s...

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard Launch Bootleg Program

Typically, when jam bands figure out that fans are making unofficial bootlegs of their live shows, they look the other way. But King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have introduced a different approach: they’re not only granting fans the go-ahead to bootleg, but also giving them all of the tools to do so. The Australian psych-rock crew has just launched a new portion of their website called “Bootlegger” where they’ve uploaded the master recordings of nine albums and are encouraging anyone who’s interested to re-release them however they see fit. Most of the records are live albums and demo comps that they’ve released on their Bandcamp throughout the year, but there’s also a new rarities album called Teenage Gizzard and their 2017 full-length Polygondwanaland, which they initia...

10-Year-Old Nandi Bushell Declares She’s a “Total Metalhead”, Rocks Slipknot’s “Unsainted”: Watch

Nandi Bushell was already our favorite kid musician of 2020, but she just gave us one more “wow” moment before the year ends. The 10-year-old prodigy rocked an impressive drum cover of Slipknot’s “Unsainted”, declaring herself a “total metal head.” It’s been an amazing year for Nandi, who found herself in the midst of a viral multi-round drum battle with the one and only Dave Grohl for several weeks. The drum-off culminated in each musician writing a theme song for one another, as well as a face-to-face video chat. Grohl eventually conceded defeat, but they even made plans to write a song together. While Nandi has proven herself to be a strong guitarist and bassist in recent months, her cover of Slipknot’s “Unsainted” shows off her mastery of the drums, the instrument that first made her a...

Watch Skrillex, Madeon, Porter Robinson, and More Rage at Justice’s 2017 Coachella Set in Unearthed Clip

The event organizers at Brownies & Lemonade unwrapped a last minute Christmas gift on Twitter yesterday that had festival aficionados feeling nostalgic.  The 90-second video shows a group of dance music heavyweights enjoying a set by Justice from the crowd’s front lines. The clip was recorded at Coachella, where the duo last performed in 2017. Despite the nighttime shot, fans are able to easily identify numerous familiar faces in the clip. As the legendary French duo’s early 2000s classic “We Are Your Friends” plays from the stage, we see DJ Snake, Madeon, and Tchami taking it all in from the crowd. Suddenly, Skrillex jumps in with an up-close cameo, emphatically singing the track’s iconic lyrics. In the next shot, we see several artists, in...

Tisoki’s “Purple Lamborghini” Flip—a Longtime Staple of Excision’s Sets—Has Finally Dropped

Feeling generous light of the holiday season, bass music star Tisoki decided to drop a slate of unreleased music on a whim. The offering contained several remixes and festival secret weapons that the producer has been keeping close to chest, one of which fans have been hounding him about for years. The new bevy of music contains a melodic future bass remix of Billie Eilish‘s “Lovely” and a distortion-heavy dubstep remix of NVADRZ‘ “Maribor Death Valley,” both of which were released as shorter works in progress. Nonetheless, what we heard left us wanting more.  The biggest gem of the bunch is Tisoki’s flip of Rick Ross and Skrillex‘s “Purple Lamborghini,” a track that has eluded his most devoted fans f...

TWISTED SISTER Is Toying Around With Idea Of Recording ‘A Couple Of New Songs’ For 15th-Anniversary Reissue Of ‘A Twisted Christmas’

In a new interview with Goldmine, TWISTED SISTER guitarist Jay Jay French discussed the band’s 2006 album “A Twisted Christmas”, which featured metal versions of Christmas songs, including the holiday carol “Oh Come All Ye Faithful”, which heavily inspired TWISTED SISTER‘s biggest hit, “We’re Not Gonna Take It”. Also appearing on the LP were such holiday chestnuts as “Silver Bells” and “Let It Snow”, propelling the album’s sales to more than 150,000 copies and spawning a live Christmas show the band performed annually for several years. Jay Jay said: “Dee [Snider, TWISTED SISTER singer] had this idea years ago to get JUDAS PRIEST and IRON MAIDEN and all these bands to each do a Christmas song. When yo...

KAMELOT’s Upcoming Album Will Be A Mixture Of ‘New Elements’ And What ‘Fans Expect’

In a recent interview with The Metal Mixtape, KAMELOT‘s Thomas Youngblood spoke about the band’s songwriting approach the follow-up to 2018’s “The Shadow Theory” album. Expressing the need to create something engagingly familiar yet altogether unique, the guitarist said (hear audio below): “Obviously, there’s a balance between making an album that fans expect but then doing things slightly different so you’re not repeating yourself. And we’re pretty good at that, I think. The team that I have with me are really good at going, ‘Hey, we’ve kind of done this. Let’s do something different.’ “When it comes to music, especially metal, people expect a certain thing,” he continued. “So we always try to ...

Mysterious Gingerbread Monolith Appears in San Francisco

The mysterious monolith saga just got a sweet and crunchy twist. A new structure appeared in San Francisco on Christmas morning that’s entirely made of gingerbread cookie. Let’s backtrack. On November 23rd, state officials stumbled across a shiny metal monolith in the middle of the Utah desert that looked like it was straight out of 2001: A Space Odyssey. At first, people half-seriously wondered if aliens had planted it there (as they did in the Kubrick film), but then the New York Times ran a detailed story that linked the structure to the late sculptor John McCracken, who was known for creating metal monoliths and once suggested that he’d like to plant them in remote areas for people to find years later. Within a week, tourists arrived and removed the statue, but then a nearly-...

Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes Heat Up Christmas With Passionate Hot Tub Kiss

She also took a moment to thank Jolly Old Saint Nick for bringing the 22-year-old singer-songwriter into her life. “Thank u Santa for my tall sweet funny boy,” Cabello wrote. The couple is currently spending the holiday season at Mendes’ home in Canada. On Christmas Eve, he took to his Instagram Stories to share an adorable photo of the pair cozying up together on the couch with their dogs. In early December, Cabello and Mendes gifted fans with a duet of the holiday classic “The Christmas Song.” The accompanying video features vintage-style footage of the couple showing off sweet PDA, looking at Christmas lights and playing with their dog Tarzan. “The Christmas Song” is featured on the holiday deluxe edition of Mendes’ new album, Wonder.
