Watch NICK MENZA Play MEGADETH’s ‘Hangar 18’ Two Years Before His Death
Previously unreleased drum-cam footage of late MEGADETH drummer Nick Menza playing along to the band’s classic song “Hangar 18” can be seen below. The HD video, shot in a two-camera-angle mix, was filmed in March 2014 at Uberbeatz Studios in Seattle, Washington and is believed to be some of the final studio drum recordings of Menza before he passed away more than two years later. The footage was supposed to be used for the late drummer’s first-ever instructional DVD, “Intense Mega Drumming”, that was to feature 10 re-recorded classic MEGADETH drum tracks with tons of tips and tricks from Menza‘s arsenal to help teach anybody out there become a better player. Leslie West, the legendary guitarist, vocalist and original founding member of MOUNTAIN, has died at the age of 75. Leslie‘s brother, Larry West Weinstein, confirmed the musician’s passing to Rolling Stone. West suffered cardiac arrest at his home near Daytona, Florida on Monday (December 21) and was rushed to a hospital, where he never regained consciousness. Earlier today, Dean Guitars, with whom West has had an endorsement deal for a number of years, issued a statement, saying: “With a heavy heart, we are saddened hear about the passing of #Dean Artist and part of the Dean family, Leslie West. John “Ecstasy” Fletcher, co-founder of the trailblazing hip-hop group Whodini, is dead at 56. Fletcher was a towering figure in the history of rap, known for his playful storytelling and flamboyant Zorro hat. Questlove of The Roots was among the first to share news of his passing on Instagram. “One Love to Ecstasy of the Legendary Whodini,” he wrote, referencing the group’s 1986 hit “One Love”. Questlove added, “This man was legendary and a pivotal member of one of the most legendary groups in hip hop. This is sad man.” Fletcher’s cause of death has not been made public. Mark those calendars, ’cause Warner Bros. has officially announced a release date for Furiosa. The Mad Max spinoff film will arrive on June 23rd, 2023. Furiosa serves as the prequel to the acclaimed 2015 epic Mad Max: Fury Road. George Miller is returning to direct, co-write, and produce the project alongside Doug Mitchell.
