Jim Carrey is done playing President-elect Joe Biden on Saturday Night Live. The veteran comedian announced his departure in a tweet posted on Saturday ahead of the show’s Christmas episode. “Though my term was only meant to be 6 weeks,I was thrilled to be elected as your SNL President…comedy’s highest call of duty,” Carey wrote. “I would love to go forward knowing that Biden was the victor because I nailed that shit. But I am just one in a long line of proud, fighting SNL Bidens!” Carrey’s tenure as Biden was met with mixed reaction from fans and critics alike. In a recent piece for Consequence of Sound questioning whether SNL should consider replacing Carrey, contributor Jesse Hassenger argued that SNL isn’t “a format that works particularly well for Carrey, a stranger and less pred...
Bono and the Edge got in the holiday spirit this week and performed an in-studio cover of “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” during Ireland’s Late Late Show holiday episode. The performance was a tribute to the annual Christmas Eve Grafton Street Busk, and the U2 stars were joined by a number of local musicians. The band also recorded a version of the Darlene Love classic for the 1987 compilation A Very Special Christmas. In addition to the festive tune, Bono and the Edge also played an acoustic rendition of “Walk On” off U2’s 2000 album All That You Can’t Leave Behind. Watch both performances below. MERCURY CIRCLE, the new band featuring former CHILDREN OF BODOM drummer Jaska Raatikainen and SWALLOW THE SUN‘s Jaani Peuhu, has released a music video for “Our Funeral (Like Xmas)”, a song exclusively featured on “Noble Demonic Metal – Chapter 1”, a brand new label sampler by Noble Demon, celebrating its first anniversary. Labeled as “a band you need to watch out for in 2021” by Metal Hammer U.K., MERCURY CIRCLE is creating a diverse offering of atmospheric and dark music where the songs differ wildly in expression and sonic aesthetics, establishing their very own kind of “new doom”. While the band is working on their upcoming full-length record right now (to be released in early 2021), they felt the need to take a break from the...

In a new interview with Metal Master Kingdom, ACCEPT guitarist Wolf Hoffmann was asked to name the biggest lesson that he has learned in all his decades in the music business. He responded (see video below): “I’d say one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that you shouldn’t settle for mediocrity. Sometimes there’s a tendency — any artist, but surely in music — to think, like, ‘Yeah, this might not be as exciting as I had hoped, but I’m sure the fans will love it anyhow.’ That’s something that’s super dangerous. Everybody has made that mistake along the way where they thought — they had that nagging feeling in the back of their mind, thinking, like, ‘Eh. Something isn’t right about it, but I hope nobody will find ou...

Morris replied to McHale’s tweet, sharing that “the vomit face on Marks [sic] face is offensive.” Glee fans flooded Morris’ replies with criticism, expressing disapproval that she seemingly chose to side with Salling, whose crimes were worse than an emoji. The actress took to Twitter on Friday (Dec. 18) to defend her thoughts on her late co-star. “I don’t feel the need to ever justify something because somethings are better left unsaid,” she wrote. “Y’all who have lots of things to say, I get it, I UNDERSTAND you…somethings are unforgivable. But this holiday season, amongst ALL holiday seasons is INCREDIBLE hard for so many of us.” “We did not loose [sic] just 2 cast members, we lost 3,” she continued, ...

Covering up one tattoo at a time apparently isn’t working for Pete Davidson anymore. The Saturday Night Live comedian says he’s currently in the process of removing every one of his 100 tattoos. Davidson is one of the most heavily tattooed celebrities around. He doesn’t go off the rails with one giant phoenix on his back like some actors, but instead tends to get one-off tributes to influential figures, like Hillary Clinton, RBG, and Harry Potter. In a 2019 interview with Inked, he said getting tatted is “just a release … When [I’m] so manic and upset, sometimes that’s the only thing that will work for me.” However, now that his Hollywood career seems to be heating up on the back of films like The King of Staten Island and the upcoming The Suicide Squad, all that ink is slowing him do...
Andrea Bocelli is truly the gift that keeps on giving. The famed singer has already delivered two inspiring performances in 2020 — first an Easter Sunday concert in Milan titled “Music For Hope”, followed by “Believe in Christmas”, a holiday show done in collaboration with his own young daughter Virginia. But it turns out Bocelli has been saving the best for last. To close out the year, the Grammy-nominated opera legend performed a magical Christmas set from inside Italy’s famed Frasassi Caves. Surrounded by stunning and surreal limestone formations, Bocelli sung timeless classics like “White Christmas” and “Silent Night”. He also did “Caro Gesù Bambino”, “Pianissimo”, and “Fratello Sole Sorella Luna (Dolce è sentire)”. What’s more, Bocelli also gave a special poetry reading. His piece cau...
