“Iced Earth” (Remastered 30th Anniversary Edition) – ICED EARTH

RATING: /10 Jon Schaffer, the only enduring element, the heart and soul of ICED EARTH, has been waving the flag of heavy metal pridefully for decades. He has done so during periods of the genre’s popularity, and equally so even when metal hasn’t been the flavor du jour. His tenacity and resilience led him to helming the ICED EARTH ship, creating such memorable releases as “The Dark Saga” (1996) and “Something Wicked This Way Comes” (1998). The ensemble has had great vocalists including Matt Barlow, JUDAS PRIEST‘s Tim “Ripper” Owens, and current frontman Stu Block. But it all began with an independently released demo EP titled “Enter The Realm” in 1989, which caught nascent record label Century Media‘s attention. A bulk...

IGOR CAVALERA Looks Back On SEPULTURA’s Legendary 1989 Concert In Mexico City: That Was ‘One Of The Craziest Shows We Ever Played’

During an appearance on the latest episode of “The Jasta Show”, hosted by Jamey Jasta (HATEBREED), former SEPULTURA drummer Igor Cavalera reflected on the band’s legendary December 1989 concert at Arena López Mateos in Mexico City during the “Beneath The Remains” tour. “That’s one of the craziest shows we ever played, because there [were] a few things [that happened],” Igor said (see video below). “It was this little place where they had Lucha Libre, which is like the Mexican wrestling style. So it was a little arena — two thousand [people] max. The dressing rooms were shrines for the Mexican fighters, so it was super bizarre being in this thing. “Another fun fact about this show was that when we were getting ready to start, the p...

AS I LAY DYING Frontman TIM LAMBESIS Suffers Burns To 25 Percent Of Body In Freak Accident

AS I LAY DYING frontman Tim Lambesis is recovering at a Southern California hospital after sustaining burns to 25 percent of his body in a freak accident. The 40-year-old singer was apparently pouring gas into a bonfire when the top slipped off and the liquid ended up getting all over his clothes. Earlier today, Lambesis shared a photo of him lying in a hospital bed, and he included the following message: “Keep your head up no matter what! I’m doing the best I can to make a thumps up on my way to surgery (in about 30 minutes). “I apologize to my friends that I have not had the time to fill in yet on what happened. The entire gas cap fell off when trying to use a little from the trickle tip to get a bonfire started. Gas got all over my clothes and I ended up burning 25% of...

COREY TAYLOR: ‘If I’m Going To Do Something, I’m Going To Do It Wholeheartedly’

SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor spoke to Australian Guitar about his debut solo album, “CMFT”, an exuberant and eclectic party-rock collection of songs which dip into a variety of styles and sounds, including folk rock, blues, hip-hop, classic metal and punk rock. Asked if it was his goal to surprise everyone with how wild and loose he gets on the record, Corey said: “I don’t know if that was the goal — I think it’s a byproduct, absolutely. I’ve always been the guy that puts it out there that if I’m going to do something, I’m going to do it wholeheartedly. So if I was going to do a solo album, I didn’t want it to feel like either of my other band. There would have been no point if I was going to do that, y’know? If I...

Additionally, the set bows at No. 2 on the Vinyl Albums chart, with 13,000 sold via vinyl LP (64% of the album’s overall first week sales). Meanwhile, Shawn Mendes’ Wonder bows at No. 1 on Top Album Sales with 54,000 copies sold — which aids its No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200. As ‘Masked Singer’ Winner, Sun Hopes to Shine ‘Light Into This World in This Dark Time’

The clue packages for Sun hinted at a performer who started early, along with lots of references to the color blue and Disney. But it was her peerless voice that really made fans think that the woman behind the mask might be a legendary country star whose unmistakable sound has been in our ears for more than 25 years. And after guesses ranging from Madonna to Idina Menzel and Gwyneth Paltrow, when the solar dust settled, it turned out that the odds-on favorite to win this season was none other than “How Do I Live” singer LeAnn Rimes. The child star, who first rose to national attention at age 8 after appearing on Star Search and broke through at 13 with her multiplatinum debut Blue, was an unstoppable force on the show, and with a win under her belt, she’s ...

Crocodile Was ‘Blown Away That I Even Made It Top Three’ on ‘Masked Singer’

The 40-year-old veteran performer whose new solo single, “80’s Movie,” is due out this Friday, hopped on the phone with Billboard before his elimination to talk about why his pink Croc costume was a dead-on emotional choice and how he thinks his Britney cover was the perfect complement to BSB’s recently released collab with their former Jive Records labelmate on “Matches.” Crocodiles have a thick skin, and in the clue packages you alluded to the fact that you’ve had to grow one as a child star coming up in the biz. Why did you choose him and why was he so pink? People who know me, my friends and family and children, know that I’m extremely sensitive and I’m just a lover, and the color pink just popped up for me from the performance side ...

The Game Says He’s Up For A VERZUZ Battle With 50 Cent

Source: KMazur / Getty It has been over a year since The Game recorded his (excellent) final studio album in Born 2 Rap and has kept his promise thus far of being done with releasing music. However, the Compton rapper says he’s down to do a VERZUZ battle with his former label chief and one-time foe 50 Cent, proving the pair really did settle their differences. The Game sat down with the LA Leakers for their Power 105 show and engaged in a socially-distanced video chat that comes after the release of the Lil Wayne-assisted “A.I. With The Braids” track. During the 11-minute chat, Game talks about making peace with 50 Cent and that no other artist in Hip-Hop would make sense for him at the moment in a VERZUZ showdown. “You can’t really talk about Fif and hip-hop without somebody bringing up G...

Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin Cover The Knack’s “Frustrated”: Watch

It’s night seven of Hanukkah, and Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin are still going strong with their covers song series. Over eight crazy nights, the Foo Fighters frontman and Grammy-winning producer are tackling a different song by a prominent Jewish musician. For entry number seven, they’re tackling The Knack’s “Frustrated”. “Tonight we’re featuring 4 nice Jewish boys whose biggest hit was a song about a nice Jewish girl… ‘My Shalom-a’ or something like that,” Grohl and Kurstin wrote in a tweet posted to Foo Fighters’ Twitter. “We’re huge fans of New Wave (as well as the ‘old wave’ that came after Moses parted the Red Sea) so we are psyched to present…The Knack! Previously, the duo paid tribute to Jewish greats like the Beastie Boys (“Sabotage”), Drake (“Hotline Bling”), Mountain (“Missi...
