Lizzo’s ‘Good as Hell’ Crowns Top TV Songs Chart for November 2020 Thanks to ‘Virgin River’
In November 2020, the song earned 11.6 million U.S. on-demand streams and 7,000 downloads, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. In the tracking week ending Dec. 3, during which Virgin River premiered, the song rose 256% in digital sales. Virgin River reaches the November 2020 edition of Top TV Songs one other time, as Charlotte OC’s “Where It Stays,” from the second season’s second episode, bows at No. 4 with 231,000 streams and 4,000 downloads. The Netflix show does not boast the most entries for November 2020, though – that distinction goes to ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, which takes three of the 10 spots: John Legend and Gary Clark Jr.’s “Wild” (No. 3; 5.8 million streams, 3,000 downloads), Goldford’s “Walk with Me” (No. 5; 364,000 streams, 2,000 downloads) and Banners’ “Where the Shadow Ends”...

Bandcamp Fridays Raised $40 Million (!) for Musicians in 2020
Earlier this year, as the pandemic strangled the live events economy, the artist-oriented platform Bandcamp decided to waive its own cut on sales of music and merch on Friday, March 20th. The one-off sale was such a success that the website soon extended it to the first Friday of every month in 2020. With the year almost over, the results are in: artists earned more than $40 million on Bandcamp Fridays in 2020. HBO Max Also Pulls Chappelle’s Show at Dave Chappelle’s Request
Last month, Netflix removed Chappelle’s Show from their service at the behest of Dave Chappelle himself. The beloved comedian has now asked HBO Max to pull the iconic sketch series from their library, and they’re granting his request. In a lengthy Instagram video posted in late November, Chappelle explained that because of the contract he signed with ViacomCBS back when the show was made in the mid-2000s — years before streaming services even existed — he actually doesn’t see a penny of the money that ViacomCBS receives when it licenses the show out to companies like Netflix and HBO Max. “They [ViacomCBS] didn’t have to pay me because I signed the contract,” Chappelle said in the clip, which compiles footage from recent stand-up gigs. “But is that right?
