Megan Thee Stallion In a year that she stamped her ticket as a major music force, Meg also flexed her voice. One of her biggest moments: It came during the season 46 premiere of Saturday Night Live, when she performed “Savage” with the words “Protect Black Women” behind her on a screen that soon bore bloody bullet holes as audio clips from Malcolm X’s 1962 speech “Who Taught You to Hate Yourself?” boomed from the speakers. Her set also included audio of activist Tamika Mallory’s criticism of Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron after his decision to charge one of the three officers in the death of Breonna Taylor with wanton endangerment for firing into her home: “Daniel Cameron is no different than the sellout negroes that sold...

Editor’s Note: This review is of Performance 2 of Gorillaz’s Song Machine Live, which aired on December 12th at 7:00 p.m. ET. Setting the Stage: If there’s one thing that Gorillaz are known for, it’s irresistibly creative fusions of music and visuals. From the very beginning, they’ve ensured that their videos, concerts, web content, and assorted paraphernalia provided a characteristically cartoonish spectacle to match the flamboyant edge of their tunes. Their latest multimodal project, Song Machine, is the best example yet of that fusion, as it mixed episodic webisodes with an almanac, a proper LP — this year’s Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez — and more. Really, all that was missing were live performances — that is, until now. This past weekend, the group teamed up with LIVENo...

Source: Tim Warner / Getty The Houston Rockets and new head coach Stephen Silas have yet to work with the full new-look team since the trade of Russell Westbrook. With “The Brodie” now a member of the Washington Wizards and John Wall now in Texas, it’s being reported that team star James Harden still wants to be traded, allegedly. ESPN is reporting that sources are saying that Harden, 31, doesn’t seem all that impressed with sticking around despite the addition of Wall, who has been out of the game for the past two seasons. Wall, who spent his entire career with Washington until this point, seemingly looks prepared to work with his backcourt mate. “I think me and James can be a heck of a combination,” Wall said to the media throng after his squad lost to the Chicago Bulls 104-91 last night...

Gunnar Nelson has taken issue with coronavirus lockdowns around the country, saying that Americans in high-risk groups should be “protected” while “the rest of us get back to life.” Gunnar discussed the hot-button issue during an appearance on a new interview series hosted by TNT singer Baol Bardot Bulsara. Speaking about how deadly COVID-19 is, compared with several other causes of death in the U.S., Gunnar said (see video below): “In my experience — for real — just as far as the numbers are concerned, it’s just another strain of the flu. Whether or not it was made in a lab as a bioweapon, I really don’t know. All I know is that the recovery rate is 99.6 percent or something crazy. And if you look at the numbers worldwide, it’s the exact sam...

The disc’s first single, “Real”, can be streamed below. “To be honest, I initially had no intention to do a solo album to begin with, but for various reasons, and in particularly my own personal health situation, I finally decided to have a crack at it,” says Atkins. “Around Easter 2020, and only some six weeks after I was told that everything seemingly looked very positive for my health, I was, unfortunately, diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and told it was incurable, which was devastating news for me. Needless to say, that was a total game changer and I went into kind of a panic situation for a while. But when the dust h...
