According to Noise11, AC/DC‘s “Power Up” has topped the Australian ARIA Albums Chart for the fourth week in a row. It has now tied Taylor Swift‘s “Folklore” for the longest-running chart topper for 2020. “Power Up” hit the No. 1 spot in 18 countries, including in the U.S., where it sold over 117,000 copies in the first week. AC/DC is the only Australian group in history to have had a No. 1 album in its home country across five decades: “Back In Black” (1980s), “Ballbreaker Live” (1990s), “Black Ice” (2000s), “Rock Or Bust” (2010s) and “Power Up” (2020s). “Power Up” holds Germany’s biggest first week of 2020 and the biggest first week for an international act in four...

If it’s meant to be, it will be. Was Evermore single “Willow” already on Taylor Swift‘s mind nearly 10 years ago? On Saturday (Dec. 12), a fan of Swift’s with a sharp eye found the word “Willow” was featured in the music video for “Mean,” circa 2011. The song was on Swift’s Speak Now album, released a decade ago. “No words,” they wrote. The tweet showed a collage of music video stills comparing “Willow” to “Mean,” both of which had Swift outfitted in a lace dress and wearing her hair in a braid. On Swift’s “Mean” stage set is a sign that clearly says “Willow” (which can be seen pretty well about 56 seconds in, if you’re watching for it yourself). You Dese...
“All I Want” reaches the summit in its 104th week. According to the Official Charts Company, no other song in history has spent as many weeks in the U.K. Top 40 before eventually reaching No. 1. Another song that makes an annual pilgrimage up the U.K. chart but has never reached the top is Wham’s 1984 hit “Last Christmas” (RCA). This week, it’s at No. 2, agonizingly-close to creating its own piece of history. The Queen of Christmas leads a festive U.K. chart which features 23 holiday-themed songs in the Top 40, including six in the Top 10: The Pogues featuring Kirsty Maccoll’s “Fairytale Of New York” (up 8-4 via Warner Bros), Shakin’ Stevens’ “Merry Christmas Everyone” (14-6 via RCA), Michael Bublé’s “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas” (13-7 via Reprise), Band Aid’s “Do They Know...
Also this week, Swift folklore vaults 5-3, thanks to the debut of her Disney Plus special and the rollout of its vinyl version, which sees the isolation recording rule the ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart. British indie heroes Arctic Monkeys bow at No. 4 with Live At The Royal Albert Hall, the followup to their chart-topping 2018 studio album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino. The live compilation becomes the Sheffield band’s seventh top five ARIA album, including all six of their studio albums. Rounding out the Top 5 is Miley Cyrus’ Plastic Hearts, down 3-5, while Yungblud’s U.K. No. 1 Weird! starts at No. 6 in the land Down Under. Michael Buble spreads festive cheer on the ARIA Albums Chart with Christmas, up 14-7. It leads a list of holiday-themed albums climbing the chart, including...
If you tune in to the Cyberpunk 2077 radio station 101.9 The Dirge, you’re likely to hear new music from A$AP Rocky and Boys Noize. The track “Flacko Loco” is attributed to the artist TELO$, the rapper’s in-game alias, and features Boys Noize and Hector Delgado on the production side. The song rumbles to life with thundering low-end sonics that are par for the course for the New York rapper. Likewise, “Flacko Loco” is minimal in the way of melody, allowing the kicks and bass ample room to run. The arrangement fuels an overall “larger than life” feeling that meshes well with the mercenary-themed title. From a tonal perspective, the track feels like a logical addition to the game’s ominous environment. ...
Mega-producer Skrillex has a longstanding, well-known love for hip-hop and rap music, and to say a collaboration with prodigious 22-year-old rapper Jack Harlow has been long overdue is an understatement. Their day has finally come with the release of “Baxter Avenue,” a monster track included on Harlow’s latest studio album, Thats What They All Say, released December 11th via Atlantic Records and Generation Now. Co-written and produced by Skrillex, “Baxter Avenue” features crisp snare hits, languid synths, and punchy kicks overlaid with Harlow’s signature smooth flow. The track is also likely the product of a studio session publicized on Harlow’s social media back in July. While “Baxter Avenue” is the first official release fr...
Martin Garrix is gearing up for a new release with one of the UK’s biggest hip-hop artists. As teased on Instagram by Tinie Tempah, the duo is set to release new music next year. Before the Story post’s 24-hour expiration, a popular fan page dedicated to the Dutch EDM star was able to secure a screen recording of the clip and share it for those who might have missed out. While the clip is short, you can see both artists in the studio and hear a brief snippet of the track. It’s hard to tell what the song will sound like due to how small the teaser is, but the announcement alone has left fans excited and clamoring for more. As you may remember, earlier in the week, Garrix revealed that he would be playing “so much unreleased music” during his Tomorrowland N...
Although most fans of bass music are still rehabilitating their necks after the copious amounts of head-banging inspired by Excision‘s last Subsidia Records release, the dubstep star is gearing up for another entry in his new label’s growing discography. Excision took to social media yesterday to unveil the second chapter in Subsidia’s Dusk series, which he called “wobbly, wonky and wonderful.” Featured on the upcoming compilation is music from Dion Timmer, Sam Lamar, Code: Pandorum, Notixx, YDG, and Excision himself, among others. You may remember that each component of Subsidia’s debut compilation—Dusk, Night, and Dawn—represents a different sector of bass music. Night is geared towards the heaviest releases, Dawn highlights a more melodic sound, and&n...

Trevor “Trev” Lukather — the musician son of TOTO guitarist Steve Lukather — has gotten engaged to Madison Cain, the daughter of JOURNEY keyboardist Jonathan Cain. Steve Lukather discussed his son’s engagement during an appearance on the “Behind The Vinyl” podcast. Clarifying that Madison‘s mother is not Cain‘s current wife, Donald Trump‘s controversial spiritual adviser Paula White-Cain, who prayed for a mass abortion of “Satanic pregnancies” this past January, Steve said (hear audio below): “The crazy woman, that’s not her mom. I mean, we all laugh at that and go, Ah, wow!’ No offense to Jonathan or anything like that — if that’s the way he wants to live, that’s cool. Jonathan and I are friends sinc...
