Foo Fighters‘ Dave Grohl and producer Greg Kurstin have shared a delightful cover of Drake‘s “Hotline Bling” for the second night of their eight-song “Hanukkah Sessions.” On Friday (Dec. 11), the duo shared a video of themselves recording the 2015 hit, with Grohl sitting at the drums and delivering the vocals, while Kurstin stands behind the keyboards. The clip also features the Foo Fighters frontman holding a menorah while hilariously recreating Drake’s signature moves from the “Hotline Bling” video. “You might be surprised to learn that this superstar is… Canadian,” Grohl and Kurstin captioned the video on YouTube. “He’s never hidden the fact that he was M.O.T. … so a generation of Jewish parents could tell their kids ‘if Drake took the tim...
When Dolly Parton’s not funding COVID-19 vaccines to help end a global pandemic, she’s saving lives on set. During a recent interview with Inside Edition, 9-year-old Talia Hill recalled the time when her Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square co-star pulled her out of the way of an oncoming vehicle. “We were on set, and I was at the hot chocolate station, and they said ‘Go back to your beginning positions,’” the child actor explained. “So, there is a vehicle moving, and I was walking, and somebody grabbed me and pulled me back — and it was Dolly Parton.” Hill said the country icon told her “Well, I am an angel, you know,” which is a reference to her role in the film and also a general truth. “I was in shock, she hugged me and shook me and said, ‘I saved your life!̵...
Blue Ivy Carter has received her first Grammy nomination…nearly three weeks after the initial list was revealed. As TMZ reports, Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s eldest daughter was retroactively nominated for her work on her mother’s “Brown Skin Girl” video (aside from appearing in the clip, Blue Ivy also lends vocals to the beginning and end of the track). Sounds like mommy and daddy made a phone call to the Recording Academy. If “Brown Skin Girl” wins Best Music Video, 9-year-old Blue Ivy (she turns nine on Jan. 12th and the award ceremony airs Jan. 31) will become the second youngest Grammy winner in history. Leah Peasall, who was eight years old when the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack won Album of the Year in 2002, currently holds the record. Revisit the “Brown Skin Girl” vid...
STRYPER frontman Michael Sweet has admitted that he is a little wary of the new, rapidly developed COVID-19 vaccines. On Thursday, a panel of outside experts recommended the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issue an emergency use authorization to the COVID-19 vaccine being developed by Pfizer and German partner BioNTech, a vaccine that appeared to be highly efficacious in a Phase 3 clinical trial. The vaccine is already being rolled out across Britain, where a 90-year-old grandmother of four became the first person in the West to receive a COVID-19 vaccine outside clinical trials. Asked in a new interview with “Rocking With Jam Man” if he will get the vaccine once it becomes available, Sweet responded (see video below): “I don’t know. To be honest with you, I’...
Dutch death doom elite ASPHYX will release its 10th studio album, “Necroceros”, on January 22, 2021 via Century Media Records. The LP was recorded at Tom Meier‘s Tom Meier Studio and at Paul Baayens‘s The Mörserstudio, and mixed and mastered by Sebastian “Seeb” Levermann at Greenman Studios. It once again features front cover artwork by Axel Hermann. The official lyric video for the second single from the album, “Knights Templar Stand”, can be seen below. The clip was created by Maurice Swinkels of Younique Film (EXODUS, KATAKLYSM). ASPHYX frontman Martin Van Drunen commented: “A mainly very heavy uptempo track about the Knights Templar battling bravely in the Levant. Outnumbered by many, standing their ground until the very end. A typi...
Los Angeles-based independent record label Cleopatra Records and Big Paul Ferguson, the British percussionist for proto-industrial post-punk legends KILLING JOKE, have announced their new partnership, which was officially cemented this year. Ferguson founded KILLING JOKE, along with vocalist Jaz Coleman, in London 1978 and the two quickly expanded to a four-piece guitarist Geordie Walker and bassist Youth. The band then proceeded to completely remake the musical landscape, incorporating elements of punk rock, noise rock, dub, and industrial to create a body of work that’s as visceral as it is sophisticated. Ferguson‘s tribal-style of drumming became the backbone for some of KILLING JOKE‘s biggest songs, including “Wardance” from their 1980 debut album as well ...
SEETHER has released an animated lyric video for its song “Wasteland”. The track is taken from the band’s latest album, “Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum” (“If You Want Peace, Prepare For War”), which came out in August via Fantasy Records. Two months ago, SEETHER claimed the No. 1 spot at rock radio with “Dangerous”, the lead single off “Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum”. The milestone marked the multi-platinum rock band’s 16th No. 1 song and 20th Top 5 hit over the course of its impressive 20-year career. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, SEETHER released three of its classic albums — “Disclaimer II”, “Karma And Effect” and “Finding Beauty In Negative Spaces” — on vinyl for the very first time ...
Ahead of his performance on Saturday Night Live this weekend, Bruce Springsteen sat down for a career-spanning interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The extensive chat on Thursday’s episode saw The Boss recall the early days of his career, the first song he ever learned to play, and the prospect of one day releasing a proper Christmas album. He also discussed his recently released album, Letter to You. While talking about his teen years, a wistful 71-year-old Springsteen recounted one of the first bands he ever played in. Although he and his two bandmates stayed together for just three years, it was with this group that he said he learned all of the basics of being in a rock outfit, from performing to songwriting. He also fondly looked back on their nights spent playing plac...
Alice Cooper has shared the new song “Our Love Will Change the World”, the second single from his upcoming album, Detroit Stories. Cooper called the track one of the “oddest songs” of his career for its juxtaposition of “happy” major chords and otherwise cynical lyrics. The shock rock legend explains that the song was written by a fellow Detroiter, thus fitting the Motor City theme of the new album. “I think ‘Our Love Will Change The World’ is one of the oddest songs I’ve ever done and it was one that came to us by somebody else, another Detroit writer,” Cooper explained in the press release. “And it was so strange, because it was happy and what it was saying was anything but happy — it was simply a great juxtaposition. And I got it immediately and said, ‘OK, this is going to be great.’ Th...
The Lowdown: Once again, Taylor Swift was lying when she told us there was “not a lot going on at the moment.” Once again, she’s dropped a carefully curated collection of songs unraveling both her extremely public exterior and deeply personal interior life. And once again, it’s an album that acts as a remarkable exercise in lyricism. It’s not just a worthy follow-up to July’s folklore; it’s a mirror, a companion, and a bookend. Taylor had a few more things to say. The fable wasn’t finished yet. Like folklore, evermore was announced hours before release, framed as a “sister” project to the summer album that gave us the latest reinvention of Taylor Swift and successfully cemented her, even in many previously unconvinced eyes, as one of the strongest songwriters working today. evermore picks ...

“This story is dedicated to all those cyberpunks who fight against injustice and corruption every day of their lives,” the title of the mix reads. “Eight years in the making, Cyberpunk 2077 has been one of 2020’s most anticipated games,” the editor’s note adds. “But its arrival isn’t just a cause for celebration for gamers. Grimes, long a fan of the sci-fi strain known as cyberpunk, voices the character Lizzy Wizzy. And to mark the occasion, she assembled a companion mix in her signature off-the-wall style, mashing together electro, hip-hop, punk, indie pop, techno, and lots more. If you’ve ever wondered what a Kendrick Lamar verse sounds like on top of the Ramones’ ‘Blitzkrieg Bop’, here’s where those two worlds collide.” Listen to the fu...
