During Hip-Hop’s golden era there were many rappers who had street classic albums that flew under the radar due to the ascension of icons such as Biggie, Nas, Wu-Tang, and Tupac. AZ was one of those MC’s. AZ’s debut LP Doe or Die had beats, rhymes, content, and lyricism for days, yet only real ones appreciate the music to this day. A few decades later and the Brooklyn born representative is still dishing out bars straight out the oven and in his latest visuals to “Different” vents about his life and times to the most attractive shrink we’ve ever seen. We feel like her client list is 98% men. Just sayin.’ J. Cole meanwhile releases more new/old visual out the vault and in his clip to “Nobody’s Perfect” gets a melodic assist from Missy Elliott.” Cole look hella young in these joints. Check o...
Taylor Swift dropped her second (!!!) surprise album of 2020 on Friday (Dec. 11), continuing the woodsy romance of Folklore on Evermore. The 15-track Evermore includes collaborations with Haim, Bon Iver and The National. “Ever since I was 13, I’ve been excited about turning 31 because it’s my lucky number backwards, which is why I wanted to surprise you with this now,” she explained in an Instagram post announcing the project’s track list. “You’ve all been so caring, supportive and thoughtful on my birthdays and so this time I thought I would give you something! I also know this holiday season will be a lonely one for most of us and if there are any of you out there who turn to music to cope with missing loved ones the way I do, this is for you.” You...
Taylor Swift introduced her fans to the world of Evermore on Friday (Dec. 11), and to celebrate Folklore‘s “sister album,” the star dropped a music video for “Willow.” The romantic vignette finds the star following a flowing gold string, which leads her to her lover whom she can’t reach, whether she’s blocked by a reflection in the water or a glass screen. Playing off the idea of Folklore’s “invisible string,” she continues to travel until she finds her soulmate on the other side of the thread. “The more that you say, the less I know / Wherever you stray, I follow /I’m begging for you to take my hand / Make my plans, that’s my man,” the chorus fittingly narrates the video. The idea of “wandering deeper” is fundamental to understanding Evermore, an album that masquerades as a sequel (or a Side B) at first glance, but reveals itself to be a more progressive, and even audacious, continuation of a proven aesthetic. She’s still relying on acoustic guitar, piano, string flourishes and programmed beats, but she also takes risks, musically and lyrically: there’s a heartbreaking ode to Swift’s grandmother (that features her archived background vocals from years ago), a skittering kiss-off that recalls mid-period Radiohead, and a swirling duet between Swift and Justin Vernon’s best Bon Iver falsetto that features a rare mid-song tempo change. Those are just the final three of the set’s 15 tracks, and they’re all breathtaking. If Swift seemingly pushed her songwriting ...

In his later years, Chris Cornell covered an eclectic array of artists and took these familiar songs and made them his own. Earlier this year, his cover of Guns N’ Roses’ “Patience” flew up the charts and now, there’s a full album along with it. Titled No One Sings Like You Anymore, this collection of songs was recorded in 2016 and serves as Cornell’s final completed studio album. The singer handpicked the 10 cover songs to celebrate artists and songs that inspired him. Cornell sequenced the record, which was mixed and produced by Brendan O’Brien. In addition to “Patience” and the previously released cover of Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U,” Cornell tackles songs by John Lennon, Janis Joplin, Harry Nilsson, Electric Light Orchestra and more. “This album is so special because it ...

According to TMZ, police found Lister’s body at his Marina Del Rey apartment on Thursday (December 10th) just before 3 p.m. local time. He was pronounced dead at the scene, but a cause was not immediately clear. Lister’s other notable film roles included playing the Galactic President in The Fifth Element; Adam Sandler’s character’s older brother Cassius in Little Nicky; and the bail agent in Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown. He also appeared in Sublime’s music video for “Santeria”. Outside of acting, Lister wrestled in both the WWF and WCW under the name of Zeus. Xochitl Gomez (photo via Instagram/@_xochitl.goemz), Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury (Marvel), and Christian Bale (via WikiCommons) Forget stockholders; Disney’s investor’s presentation on Thursday was the best first-night-of-Hanukkah gift Marvel fans could ask for. Kevin Feige was on hand to present updates on the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe projects — and boy were there a lot of updates. After showing teasers and trailers for all of Marvel’s mostly completed Disney+ series (WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, Ms. Marvel, and What If…?), Feige unloaded a stream of other upcoming projects. Some we knew about, such as Hawkeye; the Marvel head confirmed long-standing rumors (substantiated by recent on-set photos) that Hailee Steinfeld is playing the new Hawkeye, Kate Bi...
Hanukkah officially begins today, and with it brings the launch of The Hanukkah Sessions, a new song series from Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and Grammy-winning producer Greg Kurstin. The project sees the pair covering one Jewish musician every night of the eight-day holiday. For the first installment, Grohl and Kurstin take on Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage”. While the two don’t celebrate Hanukkah the same way — Kurstin is Jewish, Grohl is not — you wouldn’t know it from the intensity of their performance. The duo’s chemistry is also readily apparent, no doubt a result of the time they spent together recording Foos’ 2017 album, Concrete and Gold. Watch their collaborative cover below. As the Festival of Lights doesn’t conclude until Friday, December 18th, there’s plenty more Hanukk...
Bruce Campbell is heading back into the woods. Tonight, The Video Game Awards unveiled the first trailer for Evil Dead: The Game, which finds the retired veteran voicing the one and only Ash Williams. Even better, he’s not alone at the cabin. Joining him is Ash vs. Evil Dead co-star Dana DeLorenzo as Kelly Maxwell. Judging from the footage, it would appear that the new title — developed by Boss Team Games and Saber Interactive — will feature co-op and PvP action. It’s an exciting development for die-hard fans of the franchise, especially those hoping to see Campbell back in action. If you recall, he officially hung up the chainsaw shortly after Starz canceled the cruelly underrated sequel series. What’s more, it’ll be a nice accompaniment to Lee Cronin’s forthcoming sequel/reboot, Evil Dea...
deadmau5 has called on an old friend and collaborator to rework his latest single, recruiting Tommy Trash for a massive remix of “Bridged By a Lightwave.” Responsible for one of the most popular festival tracks of the 21st century, the Sebastian Ingrosso collab “Reload,” Tommy Trash is a dance music vet who represents an ideal choice to remix deadmau5’s single. With its electro house undercurrents and haunting vocals from Kiesza, “Bridged By a Lightwave” offers a skeleton with which Trash could naturally produce around. He spent the early 2010s producing some of the most electrifying dance music around, so a revisit to the dark, menacing sonic flair of mau5trap is a natural fit. Check out a preview of Tommy Trash&...
Fans know and love FuntCase as one of the most prolific dubstep producers of all-time. His work with Circus Records as well as his new label, gaming, and lifestyle brand DPMO have only reinforced and further cemented his status as one of bass music’s finest. In a new Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) segment this week, an eager Reddit user asked the producer when fans can expect a new drum & bass EP. To the delight of those fans, FuntCase responded directly to let fans know that he has indeed produced more drum & bass, and it’s ready for r...
