Carl Cox to Perform on New Streaming Series to Aid Ibiza Food Bank

Known globally as the premier destination for electronic music fans, performers, and clubgoers, the island of Ibiza has seen more than its share of legendary electronic music performers over the years. However, as with many other areas worldwide, the COVID-19 pandemic has left many of Ibiza’s residents without jobs and income for the foreseeable future. In light of that fact, event organizer Universe has created the Ibiza Soul Food series. Ibiza Soul Food is a series of livestreamed DJ sets that aim to raise financial aid for those in need on the White Isle. Among the new streaming initiative’s performers is legendary DJ and techno producer Carl Cox, who is a frequent Ibiza visitor. “Ibiza has been a 2nd home to me for many years,” said Cox. R...

In October, the duo released its new double album, “Smith & Myers Volume 1” and “Volume 2”, via Atlantic Records. To kick off their Hanukkah Sessions, the duo covered the Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage.” “As the only Rock and Roll Hall Of Famers with a lyric about kugel, we thought it would be a shanda to not kick off this party with New York’s (and Abraham’s) finest…known by some as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abedenego known by their Imas & Abbas as @beastieboys!” a tweet from the Foo Fighters account says. [embedded content] The duo dropped a promo yesterday (Dec. 10, the night before Hanukkah). “This year, instead of doing a Christmas song, this year, Greg and I decided to celebrate Hanukkah by recording eight songs by eight famou...

Haley Williams Shares Stripped-Down Version of “Simmer” from New Acoustic EP: Stream

Hayley Williams is following up one of our favorite albums of 2020, her debut solo record Petals for Armor, with a new three-song EP called Petals for Armor: Self-Serenades. Today the Paramore singer is previewing the effort with an acoustic rendition of one of the year’s best songs, “Simmer”. The original take on the track features all sorts of cool percussion and layered vocal harmonies, but this stripped-back version is pretty much the complete opposite. The extremely stark performance contains just light guitar plucks and Williams’ whispery croon, which builds nicely toward the end but never raises to a genuine belt. In fact, it’s so quiet that Williams’ dog Alf even made an accidental guest appearance on the recording. “If you listen closely you can hear Alf sigh dramatically in the o...
