After many delays, the hotly anticipated and polarizing video game Cyberpunk 2077 has finally been unveiled. To celebrate the official launch of one of the most ballyhooed games in recent memory, Russian techno star Nina Kraviz took the decks for a hypnotic DJ set featuring exclusive tracks from the new title. Kraviz is also an in-game player, a badass “ripperdoc” who goes by the name of Bara Nova. In the retro-future world of Cyberpunk 2077, a ripperdoc is an underground medical pro who is masterful in the art of healing and the connection of robotic implants, like cyber limbs. Apparently they can also DJ and sing. Check out Kraviz’s performance below. Cyberpunk 2077 officially launched this morning on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, and PC. ...
Did you know that when DJs yell “1, 2, 3, jump” into the microphone, what they’re really doing is giving themselves a pep talk not to pee their pants? The DJ Pee Jug is a real product that allows DJs to relieve themselves during those marathon, peak-hour sets where they simply cannot stop playing bangers to take a bathroom break. Using the DJ Pee Jug and its patented “reservoir tip”—named for its resemblance to the end of a condom—they can now drain the dragon right there on stage via the unit’s attachable hose and receptacle. The brilliant minds behind the product, record label Deep Tech Los Angeles, also conceptualized a handy adapter for female DJs so they too can experience the DJ Pee Jug, which they claim is sanitary, leakproof, and easy to cle...

GRETA VAN FLEET will release its second album, “The Battle At Garden’s Gate”, on April 16, 2021 via Lava/Republic Records. The official music video for the disc’s latest single, “Age Of Machine”, can be seen below. The clip, which was co-directed by GRETA VAN FLEET and Matthew Daniel Siskin, creates a new universe filled with symbolism and open to interpretation, with whispers of reflections on modernism. It is a response, a tiny piece of art in a very large conversation — four brothers and friends who spend very little time online, filled with questions: where is technology taking us, what does it all mean, and what are we trading in exchange? The video addresses the crumbling beauty around us, but leaves the final significance to the viewer — whether t...
Portuguese metallers MOONSPELL will release their 13th studio album, “Hermitage”, on February 26, 2021 via Napalm Records. The official music video for the disc’s second single, “Common Prayers”, can be seen below. Directed by Guilherme Henriques and featuring actress, singer and performer Aurora Pinho, this clip was shot 90 meters below the surface at the amazing caves of Grutas de Mira d’Aire, one of Portugal’s seven natural wonders. With a classy gothic and catchy feel, MOONSPELL flexes its best songwriting skills. The lyrical content is “perverse, almost religious” and deals with the 18th-century pregnancy surge amidst Portuguese nuns. Twentieth-century demolitions and excavations unearthed the bones of hundreds of children, reveali...
There are forces in our universe that conjure good and evil since the dawn of time. Now upon us, there is a dark force that has created social unrest, anxiety, disparity and above all, a global, viral pandemic that pushes sickness, fear and ultimately, death. These dark forces have taken live music to a level of non-existence because of the fear of the contagion being passed on within our species which could eventually wipe out the entire human race. Realizing that there is no hope in the near future for music to be brought to you in a live performance venue, Trevor Peres from OBITUARY, Joe Cincotta from Full Force Studio and Sean Bell from Forever Dark have joined together creating Dark Forces Live to bring forth your favorite bands in a livestreaming concert event platform. Dark Forces L...
Below, Toro elaborates on the company’s anniversary, growing success and plans for 2021. What was the biggest life lesson working at Sony that you walked away with? It is very difficult to mention a single teaching in a lifetime of experiences with music, songs, artists and colleagues. But the “opportunity” that Sony gave me to demonstrate with passion, to think “outside the box,” to believe that you can break schemes, trusting music production from the heart, and being loyal to your principles and values are an inspiring route that will always pay off. What inspired you to launch your own marketing and management company two years ago? In a company, you live the musical stages of the artists, the releases, campaigns, and strategies according to the season. But in managem...
Butterfield Jones: We are also shifting our thoughts around to equity and inclusion — making sure that once you are part of the Recording Academy, you have the opportunity to break that ceiling and get into leadership roles within the academy. We want to get more folks into the room. But we also want to make sure there’s a pathway to leadership once they get in the door. Which goals can the BMC accomplish immediately, and which will be more long term? Butterfield Jones: The North Star is to earn the trust of the Black music community. Being able to move that needle in one year and have more Black representation in the room will be progress. I’m here because many different powerful Black women paved the way. We’re focused on making sure that people that look like us have a seat at the table...
BMG has signed up The Rolling Stones to represent the band globally in pursuing collections of master recording performance rights royalties when their songs are played on radio and television, also known as neighboring rights. While in the U.S., master recording performance royalties are only paid when music is played on digital and satellite radio — and not when tracks play on terrestrial radio or TV — in most other countries those rights receive royalty payments for that kind of play in addition to digital. This signing gives a big boost to BMG’s neighboring rights service, launched only six months ago. “If you are in the business of selling services to artists and songwriters, these are the kinds of client you dream of attracting,” BMG CEO Hartwig Masuch said in ...

Taylor Swift did it again. After surprise releasing folklore with little notice in July, on Thursday morning, the singer-songwriter announced that a second album, Evermore, is on the way and will drop at midnight on Friday (Dec. 11). Swift described it as a “sister record” to folklore. “To put it plainly, we just couldn’t stop writing songs,” Swift said in a statement posted on her social media platforms. Continuing, Swift explained, “I’ve never done this before. In the past I’ve always treated albums as one-off eras and moved onto planning the next one after an album was released. There was something different with folklore. In making it, I felt less like I was departing and more like I was returning. I loved the escapism I found in these imaginary/not imaginary tales....
