From the Amazon to Your Speakers: Listen to Malvae’s Avant-Electronica Debut Album

Norwegian producer Malvae took an unusual approach to the creation of his debut album, trading in the typical studio setting for a 2,000 kilometer trek through the Amazon Rainforest. Sleeping in hammocks and sheds was just a part of everyday life during his journey, as was engaging with local indigenous communities across four countries that would provide endless inspiration. Malvae finally emerged from the region a life-changing six weeks later, equipped with an arsenal of audio recordings that would set the foundation for what would become the appropriately titled Amazonas.  Released independently on December 4th, 2020, Amazonas is composed of 13 tracks with highly conceptualized aural mystique, weaving together exotic samples, distorted vocals and eerily resonating s...

AC/DC‘s music video for “Demon Fire” can be seen below. The song is taken from the band’s latest album, “Power Up”, which recently hit the No. 1 spot in 18 countries, including in the U.S., where it sold over 117,000 copies in the first week. “Demon Fire” was featured in the final tense shooting sequence in the Fortnite Galactus event, which took place on December 1. The game’s Chapter 2, Season 4-ending live event saw players take control of Fortnite‘s iconic Battle Bus, which drops users onto the playing field at the start of every game, and fight the planet-eating Galactus in an epic battle to save reality. It laid the groundwork for the start of Fortnite: Season 5. AC/DC is the only Australian group in history to have had a No...

CHUCK BILLY Reveals ‘Best Thing’ That’s Ever Happened To TESTAMENT As Far As Business Goes

In a recent interview with Brazil’s Heavy Culture, TESTAMENT singer Chuck Billy was asked what his biggest regret is from the early years of the band. He responded (see video below): “I don’t know if there’s a lot of regrets. I look back now, [and] as far as the business goes, maybe we weren’t paying attention close enough with labels, management, lawyers — the whole thing. “When we signed [our first] record contract, we thought it was ‘sex, drugs and rock and roll — let’s go on tour,'” he continued. “And we didn’t think about the rest of the business. I think we were very lucky to have a guy like Jonny Z [executive producer of METALLICA‘s debut LP, ‘Kill ‘Em All’, and founder of Megaforce Records] si...

KORN guitarist Brian “Head” Welch has told Terry “Beez” Bezer of Knotfest.com‘s “Mosh Talks With Beez” that he and his bandmates “have some exciting things coming in 2021.” The 50-year-old musician, who left KORN in 2005 and continued as a solo artist before rejoining in 2013, added (see video below): “Me and my KORN brothers, man, that’s been the best thing in my life — to be back with them and to walk through the good and the bad times with them and create art together. We just have such exciting things to come next year, and I’m so excited for that. 2021 is gonna be a year of greatness. It’s gonna be so, so amazing. Watch Tom Petty’s New Video for ‘Something Could Happen’

A new video for Tom Petty’s “Something Could Happen” premiered during a one-hour livestream on the Tom Petty YouTube channel last night (12/8). It was directed by Warren Fu and features Lauren Cohan (of The Walking Dead fame). The song is from Wildflowers & All The Rest, the beefed-up version of Petty’s 1994 album Wildflowers which was released in October.  The livestream also featured new, behind-the-scenes footage from the “You Don’t Know How It Feels” video and included set commentary from director Phil Joanou and Petty himself. Of directing “Something Could Happen,” Fu said in a statement that “looking back on Tom’s old music videos, it was obvious that he had a lot of fun with them and was not afraid to get a bit weird. I wanted to create another modern fairyta...

Hayley Williams Performs Petals for Armor Songs for Tiny Desk (Home) Set

Hayley Williams released her first solo album, Petals for Armor, back in May. A lot has obviously happened since then for the Paramore singer, including the postponement of her first solo tour, which would have seen her head to Europe and then the States. Instead of playing live shows, Williams performed at home over the summer, and recently, at a Ruth Bader Ginsburg tribute show. Today, Williams appeared as the latest artist to perform on NPR’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert, joined by a team of ace musicians including Julien Baker, Becca Mancari, bassist Joey Howard, and drummer Aaron Steele. From the album, Williams played “Pure Love,” “Taken,” and “Dead Horse.” The performance was a first, Williams admitting she had “never done this without Paramore.” Watch the set below. [emb...

Trapt’s Twitter Suspended After Rant Seemingly Defending Statutory Rape

MAGA proud boys Trapt are at it again. If the racist and xenophobic ravings of frontman Chris Taylor Brown weren’t bad enough, the band’s toxic Twitter feed has finally been suspended after a rant seemingly defending underage student-teacher relationships and statutory rape. This after Trapt’s Facebook was suspended for “violating community standards” following a pro-Proud Boys post. The latest debacle appears to have started when someone trudged up a screenshot of one of the band’s old Twitter replies, no doubt scavenged from a pile of similarly tasteless remarks made throughout the years. This one defended underage student-teacher relationships, and the screenshot reignited the argument between Trapt (likely Brown) and an angry mob of angry commenters. Trapt doubled down on their old rep...

Every Time I Die Share New Songs “A Colossal Wreck” and “Desperate Pleasures”: Stream

Every Time I Die have returned with the double single, “A Colossal Wreck” and “Desperate Pleasures”. They’ve also announced a livestream event for December 19th. The songs mark the first new music from the Buffalo, New York hardcore act since 2016. In the interim, the band’s lost none of their mathematic prowess and virtuosic precision. If the rest of Every Time I Die’s forthcoming ninth studio album lives up to these tracks, fans are in for another excellent slice of passionate metal. As the titles “A Colossal Wreck” and “Desperate Pleasures” imply, there’s more than a little of 2020 that’s seeped into the new material. Vocalist Keith Buckley stated in a press release that the songs are “two sides of the same reactionary coin.” “While ‘A Colossal Wreck’ looks around at the current state o...

Apple’s First Over-Ear Headphones, the AirPods Max, Will Only Cost You $549

Apple has announced AirPods Max, the tech giant’s first ever over-ear headphones. The cordless devices will retail for $549 and become available starting Tuesday, December 15th. The history of headphone technology begins with over-the-ear models, but starting with The Walkman in 1979, earbuds began to overtake them in popularity. It’s a trend that Apple helped along in 2001, when their first generation of earbuds shipped along with the original iPod. Their wireless AirPods launched five years later. As demand for a wider variety of listening options has increased, different people place varied values on discretion, comfort, and audio fidelity. The AirPods Max are the result of Apple bowing to demand for a high-end listening experience. Similar to the AirPods Pro ($249), the new Max models ...
