Today, December 8th, marks the 40th anniversary of John Lennon’s death. The Beatles’ two surviving members, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, have both posted tributes to their former bandmate, as have Lennon’s two sons, Sean and Julian. “A sad sad day but remembering my friend John with the great joy he brought to the world,” wrote McCartney in a social media post. “I will always be proud and happy to have known and worked with this incredible Scouse X love Paul.” McCartney’s tribute was accompanied by a photo of the two musicians together as taken by his late wife, Linda McCartney. The Beatles’ Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, along with Sean and Julian Lennon, remember their bandmate and father on the day when, 40 years ago, John Lennon was shot and killed in front of his New York City apartment, in what news outlets at the time called “an unspeakable tragedy.” A deranged fan, Mark David Chapman, killed the former Beatle with two gunshots. Lennon’s Yoko Ono was by his side at the time and the singer was only 40. In 2020, Chapman was denied parole for the 11th time; he’ll next be eligible in 2022. Source: Kevin Winter / Getty Actress Natalie Desselle-Reid, most known for her role opposite Halle Berry in the 1997 film B.A.P.S., has passed away. She was 53. TMZ reports that Desselle-Reid passed away on Monday (Dec. 8) after a long and private battle with colon cancer. Reportedly she was diagnosed earlier this year and was in hospice care when she passed away. The news was also confirmed by her manager.
