While you might have heard of glow-in-the-dark tattoos, which use UV-light activated ink for their effect, this style has been relegated to old school status with the invention of new LED tattoos. These tattoos pop all on their own, using neon colors and moving artwork to broadcast psychedelic rave visuals right on your body. With tattoos already popularized as a go-to way for EDM fans to express their love of music, adding an LED element could be a fun new option to bring these pieces of art to life. Artwork by Keegan Sweeney. The technology used for these tattoos was pioneered in 2009 by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania, who developed light emitting diode (LED) devices that could be implanted under the skin and show through to the surface. Made of a thin silicone...

Yesterday, more than 40 artists joined forces for CatSong Festival — a virtual tribute to Yusuf/Cat Stevens in honor of the 50th anniversary of his 1970 albums Tea for the Tillerman and Mona Bone Jakon. During the nearly two-and-a-half-hour long stream, Haim performed a cover of “Hard Headed Woman” off Tea for the Tillerman. Danielle Haim took the reins for the stripped down rendition, singing and playing guitar, while Este and Alana contributed backup vocals. Elsewhere, Jack Johnson covered “Where Do The Children Play,” Brandon Boyd of Incubus performed “Wild World,” and Dave Matthews played “Father & Son.” “It’s great to see and hear these covers of my songs given new life,” Yusuf said in a statement ahead of the tribute. “There’s no better hon...
Dave McClain says that he has “no regrets” about leaving MACHINE HEAD more than two years ago. The drummer, who joined the California metal band in 1995, announced his departure from MACHINE HEAD in October 2018. McClain, along with guitarist Phil Demmel, went on to complete the Robb Flynn-fronted act’s “Freaks & Zeroes Tour” before they both officially exited the group. Asked if he has any regrets about his decision to leave MACHINE HEAD, McClain said (see video below): “Definitely no regrets about it at all. It’s something to this day, almost every day, I’m thankful that I did it. And I’m sure Phil is too. We talked about it...
Wolfgang Van Halen has told The Oakland Press that he has not yet started to look through the famous home-studio vaults of his father, legendary VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen, for unheard material that might be suitable for future release. “That’s not gonna happen for a long time,” he said. “I have no idea what’s in there that would be worth releasing. To a certain extent, my dad released all the good stuff. Even without the intention to release, I want to archive it properly and digitize it, so everything is safe for years to come. It’s going to be an incredibly difficult process and a very long process to do properly. “I think when a very important musician passes, you usually see right away the compilations of unreleased music that maybe s...
In a new video posted to his official YouTube channel, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE singer Jesse Leach offered an update on the status of the new album from TIMES OF GRACE, his collaborative project with KILLSWITCH ENGAGE guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz. He said: “We are finalizing up stuff. Hopefully by the end of this year and early next year, we’ll start previewing music and stuff.” As for the reason for the delay in getting new TIMES OF GRACE music out there, Jesse said: “Obviously, this year has just been a shitshow. We just wanna make sure it comes out properly — the way that we want it to be presented, and have some good visual ideas and some good artwork. And we found a good home at a label. So all of that is wrapping up.” This past August, Dutkiewicz told the Metal Bl...
In a new chat with That Metal Interview, Greek guitar virtuoso Gus G., who joined Ozzy Osbourne‘s band just over a decade ago, was asked what it was like meeting the legendary heavy metal singer for the first time. He responded (hear audio below): “I was starstruck, as anybody would be, really. ‘Cause I’ve met a lot of rock stars, but not at that level — until that point. I’d never met somebody of that caliber; he’s like a megastar. And not only because of that — he’s such a legend. If you’re into heavy metal, that’s you father — that’s the father of heavy metal. [Laughs] So it was a crazy moment.” According to Gus, Ozzy made him feel comfortable right away. “He’s a chilled out dude, at least these days,” t...
Two months after seeing his debut appearance on SNL canceled after breaking COVID protocol, country singer Morgan Wallen got a second crack at serving as the show’s musical guest during last night’s episode. In a sketch preceding his first performance, Wallen spoofed the incident that led to his initial cancelation. If you recall, Wallen had been scheduled to play SNL on October 10th, but his appearance was pulled at the last-minute after video surfaced of him partying at a University of Alabama bar. He was replaced by Jack White, who delivered one of the most memorable performances in recent SNL history. Last night’s sketch opened with Wallen walking into a bar with a beer in his left hand and his face covering around his neck. “To no consequences!” he yells, before kissing a college girl...
