Zeds Dead‘s new mixtape is a reminder that wine and friendships aren’t the only things that get better with age. THE LOST TAPES is a breathtaking record comprised of “old school dubs and misplaced IDs” that the iconic dubstep duo produced back in 2008 and 2009. Released today, the mixtape is a treasure trove—concealed for over a decade—of experimental bass music and wonky dubstep that is reminiscent of the golden age of the genre. Spanning 10 instrumentals, it is a surefire must-listen for fans of Zeds Dead who were around for their formative years, when they dropped some of dubstep’s most timeless tracks. Zeds Dead The entire THE LOST TAPES project is one giant Dominique Wilkins-like highlight reel, so it’s difficult to illuminate its sta...
We would like to think Stevie Nicks is feeling a sense of pride seeing the overnight success of young singer Lanie Gardner. Gardner’s life was flipped upside down after a TikTok video of her singing a cover of Fleetwood Mac‘s iconic song “Dreams” went viral. Now, with the backing of two of EDM’s biggest stars David Guetta and MORTEN, she is in the spotlight for a much-deserved second time. The trio has released their electronic rendition of “Dreams,” doubling down on the explosive growth of Gardner’s scintillating cover. The “future rave” tandem completely transformed the Fleetwood Mac classic, but Gardner keeps its pure essence alive with her hypnotizing vocals. With its entrancing synths and soaring house drop, this cover h...
In a new interview with Fox Sports 910‘s “Freak Nation”, JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford, who is promoting his recently released autobiography “Confess”, shared that he has learned from his mistakes but would never term them as regrets. “Well, first of all, I’ve never really liked the word ‘regret,'” he explained (hear audio below). “I think it’s too hard and cold and doesn’t have any kind of empathy. I prefer to use [the word] ‘reflect’ — you’re reflecting on your past. Because you shouldn’t beat yourself up for some of the poor choices you’ve made, either of your own choice or through the circumstances of another person. There are some things where you are directly at fault, and you pay ...
RATING: 8.5/10 There was time, not so long ago, when power metal seemed to be dominated by bands that sounded, to put it mildly, a bit too fucking cheerful. Not that there’s anything wrong with an occasional dose of positivity, but these are dark times. As humanity at least appears to be pirouetting blindly towards oblivion, super-melodic heavy metal continues to be one of the most uplifting sounds around, but preferably leavened with some acknowledgement that this world is pretty screwed up and, you know, only death is real. Make no mistake, fans of soaring melodies, ultra-melodic shredding and multi-layered symphonic bombast will find more than enough to enjoy in the new PERSUADER album. But this is also a brutal, obsidian piece of work, with a progressive streak a mile wide and at...
GRETA VAN FLEET‘s new single, “Age Of Machine”, can be streamed below. The track is taken from the band’s second album, “The Battle At Garden’s Gate”, which will be released on April 16, 2021. Also included on the effort will be “My Way, Soon”, which was made available in October. Regarding the new album title, singer Josh Kiszka told Rolling Stone: “There are definitely Biblical references. Not just in the title, but throughout the entire album…This is a world with the ancient civilizations in it, just like our own parallel universe, really. It’s an analogy. Each song is a theme. A magnification of different cultures and civilizations inside of this world searching for some kind of salvation or enlightenment.” “...
Better Noise Music recording artists THE HU have debuted their “hunnu rock” cover of METALLICA‘s “Sad But True” today, along with a music video. The track is a unique take on the beloved classic that has over 142 million streams on Spotify alone. THE HU‘s distinct style allows listeners to hear this song in a completely new way. The band added traditional Mongolian instrumentation along with their signature style of throat singing and swapped out “Sad But True”‘s English lyrics for their native language, Mongolian. The same distorted guitar melody from the original song helps drive the song forward, but the originality and musical prowess of THE HU‘s distinguishing sound makes this track stand out on its own. With this cover, THE ...
