Halsey Addresses Grammys Snub: ‘It’s Not Always About the Music or Quality or Culture’

Women ruled the 2021 Grammy nominations list that was unveiled on Tuesday, but there was a name noticeably missing: Halsey. After spending a few days to ruminate on yet another snub, the pop star took to Instagram stories to get some things off her chest. “I’ve been thinking and wanted to choose my words carefully because a lot of people have extended sympathy and apology to me since the Grammy nominations,” she wrote. “The Grammys are an elusive process. It can often be about behind the scenes private performances, knowing the right people, campaigning through the grapevine, with the right handshake and ‘bribes’ that can be just ambiguous enough to pass as ‘not bribes.’” If artists were able to manage any of these political tactics, Halsey also suggested having to commit “...

Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. faced-off against each other in the ring Saturday night (Nov. 28) in a highly-anticipated exhibition bout — but it was Snoop Dogg who social media users declared winner the evening. Born Calvin Broadus Jr., the rapper, actor and entrepreneur gave color commentary for multiple matches, including Jake Paul versus Nate Robinson and the main event, which was the former heavyweight champion Tyson vs icon Jones Jr. Snoop had fans rolling on social media with his numerous quips during the fights, one of the most popular being when he said of the Tyson-Jones Jr. battle, “This s–t is like two of my uncles fighting at the barbecue.” You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. Halsey Speaks Out After 2021 Grammy Nominations Snub: ‘It’s Not Always About the Music’

The 26-year-old pop star’s exclusion from the 2021 Grammy nominations came as a surprise to many, given that her recent album, Manic, featured the hit song “Without Me,” which reached No. 1 on the Hot 100. To date, the singer has not been nominated in a Big Four (album of the year, record of the year, song of the year and best new artist) category at the Grammys. “The Grammys are an elusive process,” Halsey continued in her post. “It can often be about behind the scenes private performances, knowing the right people, campaigning through the grapevine, with the right handshake and ‘bribes’ that can be just ambiguous enough to pass as ‘not bribes.'” She added that many politics go into receiving a Grammy nomination, including “...

Francia Raisa Responds to ‘Saved by the Bell’ Reboot Joking About Selena Gomez’s Kidney Transplant

In addition to their public apology, the team behind the new Saved by the Bell said they have been in touch with Gomez’s representatives and plan to make a donation to The Selena Gomez Fund for Lupus Research at USC. In the sixth episode of the reboot, which premiered last week, two students at Bayside High argue over who donated a kidney to Gomez in 2017 after she had been diagnosed with lupus years earlier. “I know for a fact that Selena Gomez’s kidney donor was Justin Bieber‘s mom. God, I wish that I had my phone so that I could prove it,” one character says. The other student replies, “Prove what? That you’re an idiot? It was Demi Lovato‘s kidney. They’re best friends, like you and I were.” In a later scene, the words “Does Selena Gomez even have a kidney?”...

Marilyn Manson’s Role Cut from Stephen King’s The Stand Miniseries

More than a year ago, Marilyn Manson announced that he would be acting in CBS All Access’ miniseries adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand. With just a few weeks to go before its December 17th premiere, the show’s director, Josh Boone, has revealed that the shock rocker’s role has been cut from the limited TV series. While Manson’s particular role was never formally unveiled by the series’ creators, it was assumed by many that he would play the pyromaniac Trashcan Man from the 1978 novel. However, it was recently revealed that actor Ezra Miller would play that role, leading to speculation that Manson had been cut from the series. As it turns out, Manson was set to play The Kid, a character who appeared in an extended version of King’s novel, but not in the original story. As dir...

R.I.P. Dave Prowse, Darth Vader Actor Dies at 85

Dave Prowse, the British actor who portrayed Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy, has died at the age of 85. A former champion weightlifter and bodybuilder, the 6-foot-7 Prowse was asked to audition for the roles of Darth Vader and Chewbacca after Star Wars director George Lucas saw him in A Clockwork Orange, where he played as Frank Alexander’s bodyguard, Julian. Ultimately, Prowse tried out for the role of Darth Vader, because as he explained, “everyone remembers the villain.” Prowse filled Darth Vader’s suit for the first three Star Wars movies, including for legendary scenes such as when Darth Vader threw Emperor Palpatine off the balcony. As Lucas wanted a “darker voice,” the character’s lines were later overdubbed by ones read by James Earl Jones in post-production. Fo...

Canadian documentarian Sam Dunn of Banger Films says that he would love to make the “definitive” documentary about VAN HALEN. “VAN HALEN, for me, has always been a bit of a Holy Grail story, particularly the David Lee Roth years, up to ’83, ’84,” Dunn told DEATH ANGEL‘s Ted Aguilar as part of the “Alive & Streaming” YouTube interview series (see video below). “That run of records is such a phenomenal run, and it happened in such a short period of time. “I know there’s been books written about VAN HALEN, and I know that it would never be an easy film to make, for many reasons,” he continued. “And that’s fine. And maybe it won’t get done. Maybe someone will be blessed with the opportunity to d...

Sabrina Claudio’s New Holiday Album LP Is a Jazzy Gift

This Christmas, you’ll get to sit around a socially-distanced household and take in the smoothest, sexiest, and most soulful holiday songs that you’ve ever heard thanks to singer Sabrina Claudio. The wistful Miami-born singer whose breakthrough, About Time, was released in 2017, reveals over Zoom that her latest body of work wasn’t planned and was spurred on by a conversation with her manager, Wassim “Sal” Slaiby.  “I was supposed to be on tour and that didn’t happen because of the virus,” she says happily as she reflects on the experience. “I was just completely uninspired and didn’t really want to do anything with music. And he [Sal]  just threw out there, ‘Oh, you know what? You should just release a Christmas song this year, just because,’ and so I took that idea and I ran wi...
