10 Essential Tracks on Bad Bunny’s ‘El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo’: Staff Picks

Recorded in Puerto Rico, Los Angeles, Mexico, El Ultimo Tour del Mundo was born during the Coronavirus pandemic. Below, check out 10 essential tracks as recommended by Billboard Latin editors Griselda Flores and Jessica Roiz. “Te Mudaste” Though Bad Bunny took a different melodic route on his new album, “Te Mudaste” stays true to the essence of reggaeton. Towards the end, the beat completely transforms into an instrumental synthwave ’80s pop sound. Singing about the last time they made love and all the good times they had together, the nostalgic lyrics are about a person reminiscing about a long lost love. “Maldita Pobreza” A standout track on the album is the rock-en-español-inspired “Maldita Pobreza.” With a late ’80s/early ’...

First Stream Latin: New Music From Reik & Christian Nodal, Ecko’s Debut Album & More

Reik and Christian Nodal have joined forces for “Poco,” a heartfelt ranchera about finally overcoming a breakup. “From a kiss to kiss my broken heart has been able to heal/ I want to tell you that to forget you, very little is needed,” read part of the lyrics, composed by Andres Torres, Mauricio Rengifo and Camilo. A melancholic music video, directed by Fernando Lugo in Guadalajara, shows the two musical acts in different settings in the Mexican city. Reik’s lead singer Jesus Navarro says, “Poco” is a genuine collaboration that finds the middle point of both artists — both vocally and melodically. Camilo, El Alfa, “Bebé” (Sony Music Latin) On the heels of his playful cumbia, “Vida de Rico,” Camilo now presents a savory bachat...

JOURNEY Singer ARNEL PINEDA Releases ‘This Christmas – A Beacon Of Hope’ To Kick Off Holiday Season

Arnel Pineda, lead singer of Rock And Roll Hall Of Famers JOURNEY, has released “This Christmas – A Beacon Of Hope” to kick off the Christmas season. Arnel is also a philanthropist whose foundation, Arnel Pineda Foundation, Inc. (APFI), is a non-stock, non-profit, and independent Philippine foundation that provides underprivileged children quality education, health services and medical attention. For millions of youth in developing countries like the Philippines, education is seemingly beyond reach. Poverty and inadequate government support stifle the future aspirations of Filipino children. Hence, Arnel Pineda Foundation was formed, principally to address their sad plight by preparing them for a brighter future through education. For Pineda, the story starts the day he s...

TED NUGENT On Athletes Kneeling For National Anthem: ‘They Should Be Ashamed Of Themselves’

Outspoken conservative rocker Ted Nugent has weighed in on professional football players kneeling during the U.S. national anthem to protest against police brutality, saying “they should be ashamed of themselves.” Nugent, who played “The Star-Spangled Banner” at several Donald Trump rallies leading up to this year’s presidential election, discussed the issue of NFL players taking a knee during the anthem in an interview with “America This Week With Eric Bolling”, Sinclair Broadcast Group‘s weekly news program hosted by conservative Fox News alum Eric Bolling. Speaking about how he feels about players who do not stand during the national anthem and who “disrespect the flag” of the United States of America, Ted said (see video below...

WOLFGANG VAN HALEN On His Father EDDIE VAN HALEN: ‘I Think He’s The MOZART Of Our Generation’

In a recent interview with “Entertainment Tonight”, Wolfgang Van Halen was asked what he thinks his father Eddie Van Valen‘s legacy will be. He responded (see video below): “I think he’s the Mozart of our generation. I think the way we look back at people like Mozart and Beethoven, from how far we are removed from them, you put that amount of time ahead of us, and I think people will still be looking back at him.” Wolfgang also commented on the outpouring of love for Eddie in the weeks following his death, saying: “It’s incredible. It’s been such a monumental amount of positivity that I haven’t really seen on the Internet before.” Last month, a City Council meeting was held in Pasadena, California where a memorial honoring E...

The Shadow At The World’s End – REVOLTING

RATING: 8/10 How does ROGGA JOHANSSON find time to eat or take shit? With a dedication to death metal that is entirely unmatched in the modern era, Sweden’s most prolific writer of skull-shattering riffs has had a particularly busy 2020. Happily, “The Shadow At The World’s End” is easily the finest of the nine full-length records he has released this year, although if your enthusiasm for this stuff is sufficiently high, I do urge you to check out albums by BLOODGUT, FURNACE, GHOULHOUSE, HUMANITY DELETE, MEGASCAVENGER, MONSTROUS, REEK and THOSE WHO BRING THE TORTURE, all released within the last 12 months. Like I say, he’s prolific. Some might argue that there isn’t a vast amount of musical space between one ROGGA project or another, but that depends larg...

Looking Back at the Concert That Tried to Save America

Editor’s note: It’s easy to forget now, but in 2004, we were a nation just as divided. George W. Bush was facing a tough reelection campaign against Democratic challenger John Kerry. That year, Bruce Springsteen and others joined forces to barnstorm through swing states on the Vote for Change tour. The tour hit Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, North Carolina, Missouri, Wisconsin and Iowa. The tour culminated with the biggest names from the tour performing on Oct. 11 in Washington, D.C. The lineup was star-studded: Springsteen, R.E.M., Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, the Chicks, James Taylor, John Mellencamp, Jurassic 5, Keb’ Mo’ and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. The five-and-half hour show culminated with several all-star collaborations.  Zaakir aka Soup from Ju...

SPIN 35 How U2’s Concert in War Torn Sarajevo Came About

This past September 23rd was the 23rd Anniversary of one of the most famous and truly meaningful rock concerts ever staged: U2 playing Sarajevo, soon after the end of the war in Bosnia and the hellish three and a half year seige of the city. Since then time has, as it often does, slobbered all over the occasion and preserved it in a larvae of sacchriny, revisionist myth. In reality, the road to that historic night — and it was a great night, and really did change the morale of a country — was anything but simple and sure, and in the beginning the band didn’t want to do it.  I know all this because it was entirely my idea. The Most Influential Artists: #9 Public Enemy

As part of our 35th anniversary, we’re naming the most influential artists of the past 35 years. Today, we’re at #9. From Long Island, New York, here are Public Enemy. CREDIT: Lynn Goldsmith/Corbis/VCG via Getty Images Formed around the nucleus of rappers Chuck D and Flava Flav, production collective the Bomb Squad and others, Public Enemy was conceived as a rap army: militant Black musicians hell-bent on bringing the harsh realities of African-American strife to a mostly unaware audience. Their sample-based sound was as jarring and impactful as Chuck’s megaphone bark was authoritative and Flav’s cartoonish squeal was absurdist — and it strived for a confrontational brio informed by history. (Their contemporaries in N.W.A. approached these matters from slightly different, more misogynistic...

The 35 Greatest Concerts of the Last 35 Years

We know, we know — the best concert of all-time is your friend’s obscure indie-punk band playing a sweaty neighborhood basement back in ‘94. We admit that one slipped through the cracks.  Maybe it’s a fool’s errand, but this list is our attempt to narrow down three and a half decades of worthy live music events — legendary festivals, headlining tours from major artists, one-off stage collaborations, multimedia spectacles — into an eclectic and satisfying blend. – Ryan Reed 35. So it’s heartening that Heilung’s debut l...
