Earlier this year, word got out that a new installment of Lethal Weapon was in the works. Now, the franchise’s longtime director Richard Donner has confirmed that he’s both directing and producing the film at the young age of 91 years old. Donner sat down with The Telegraph for a story about his 1978 Superman film, and at one point the news of his upcoming project surfaced. That’s when Donner couldn’t help but confirm some key details about his involvement in it. “This is the final one,” he said. “It’s both my privilege and duty to put it to bed. It’s exciting, actually! [But] it’s the last one, I’ll promise you that.” As previously reported, Lethal Weapon 5 will see original stars Mel Gibson and Danny Glover reuniting to shoot a new adventure. There’s no word on what to expect from t...
Cobra Kai and music go together like Daniel and Miyagi. Just think back to all the needle drops: Johnny Lawrence brooding to Foreigner in his Firebird. He and LaRusso singing REO Speedwagon together. The Alan Parsons Project closing out the pilot. These moments are all over The Karate Kid spinoff series, and they always get us pumped up. But, what about the actual cast? What songs get them pumped up? In anticipation of Season 3, which premieres on Friday, January 1st, Consequence of Sound sat down with your favorite heroes of Cobra Kai to hear what they take to the dojo with them. From AC/DC to Meek Mill, their responses extended well beyond the show’s ’80s roots. Peyton List, aka Tory Nichols: “I’m sometimes embarrassed by my music tastes. I feel like it’s a lot of Doja Cat or something b...
As our Annual Report continues, we’re taking a look at several ways live music changed in a year where most of the world was in lockdown. Today, we share our conversation with Christine and the Queens, an artist with a unique approach to quarantine performances. As Héloïse Letissier presumes, there probably are some “really insular musicians” who found the lack of touring this year somewhat calming. Under her moniker of Christine and the Queens, the French pop star is not one of those artists. “I’m always saying I come from theater, but it kind of formed a relationship I have with the stage that is very much essential,” she tells Consequence of Sound over Zoom from her Paris home. Performance is in fact entirely indispensable when it comes to the concept of Christine and the Queens. Just t...
While the teaser doesn’t reveal a release date for the new single or hint at the track’s sound, “New Moon” will serve as a follow-up to the group’s second release of 2020, the electropop-fueled mini-album [12:00], which featured singles “Why Not” and “Star.” Most importantly, the teaser also marks the return of HaSeul, who makes a brief appearance in the final moments of the video, looking off in profile as the screen flashes with glitchy, green light. (The band’s de facto leader had been notably absent from the previous two album cycles, citing a need to focus on her health as the rest of the girls recorded and promoted [12:00] as well as the EP that preceded it, 2020’s [Hash].) Watch Loona’s teaser for R...

To say Chloe x Halle have dominated an unprecedented year in music somehow still feels like an understatement. The Atlanta-born sister duo has been on a tear in 2020, connecting with new audiences while reintroducing themselves to day-one fans with a slew of awe-inspiring performances like their recent outing with NPR’s Tiny Desk. And in a year spent without live music, there was no better way to commemorate the release of Ungodly Hour, their most critically acclaimed work to date. The 13-track LP resonated with audiences and earned its place on year-end lists from Rolling Stone, Variety and Time Magazine, largely due to the pair’s willingness to eschew the “angelic” image that was cast upon them in favor of flaunting their own imperfections. On songs like “Lonely” and “Wonder What She Thi...
You’ve forwarded all the memes, bought every mask and washed your hands so much they look like a couple of shiny beets. After months of outgoing one-term president Trump spreading disinformation about the election and the scary news about a new COVID-19 variant capping arguably the worst year in recent memory, is there anything left that can stir fear in your heart? Cue the dancing robots. In the latest video featuring Boston Dynamics robots Atlas and Spot, the creepily life-like bots up the ante on their gymnastics and parkour tricks by doing a loose-hipped jig to The Contours’ signature 1962 hit “Do You Love Me?” Both awe-inspiring and a possible impending sign of the robot apocalypse, the clip has a quartet of remarkably agile bundles of wires and motors hopping ...
In the latest issue of Classic Rock magazine, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich promised the follow-up to 2016’s “Hardwired…To Self Destruct” will be the best album he and his bandmates have ever made. “It’s the heaviest thing, the coolest,” Ulrich said. “But all kidding aside, if it wasn’t because we thought that the best record was still ahead of us, then why keep doing it? “In METALLICA, we love the creative process, and it’s hard for me to imagine that we’ll ever stop making records.” Last month, Ulrich said in an interview with Rolling Stone that METALLICA was nearly a month into “some pretty serious writing” sessions for its next studio album. A couple of weeks earlier, Lars told Kara Swisher at the CNBC ...
Only 17, Analise Hoyveda has already had a career that many music and Hollywood veterans would be envious of. When she was 14, she appeared in 2018’s A Wrinkle in Time alongside Reese Witherspoon and Oprah Winfrey and now, is looking to build on her music career that started when she was 12. Hoyveda is under no pretense that the career she’s pursuing will be easy, and she understands the amount of work it will take for her to be successful. “You don’t get big overnight!” she says. “You have to work really, really hard. Most of the time I’m at the studio from like 5 pm to 3 am and it’s a lot of work. But you just have to keep working and working to get where you want to be, and I love doing it!” Hoyveda has been singing, acting, and dancing most of her life, starting with musicals sinc...
