Conway the Machine and Freddie Gibbs have done some things they regret on the new collaborative track “Seen Everything But Jesus”. It’s off Con’s upcoming album From King to a GOD, which drops tomorrow, September 11th. The cut is a Beat Butcha production, with simple, descending piano chords playing off the urgent click of drums. That’s Conway’s voice on the hook, but while the Machine may be singing, it’s definitely not autotuned. The whole song benefits from this off-the-cuff delivery, especially given the rawness of the subject matter. “Look, Lil Lotto got shot,” Conway begins, “Mikey B got shot (Pssh)/ Lil Jojo got shot, ChineGun got shot (Rest in peace, n—-s)/ I start my verse sayin’ they names to show we haven’t forgot (Uh huh).” This is context for the pained chorus, as Co...

In a statement to Billboard, Keys said she saw the collaboration as an opportunity to “use my platform to further racial equity.” She also penned a letter explaining her decision to take part in the Kickoff show, which airs tonight, September 10th, a...

If music is 5 Gum, then dancing is the ensuing journey through hyper-speed. Dancing is essentially an involuntary reaction to hearing music, according to a new study on sonic-related micro-movements. In order to study the impact of music on human movement, researchers in Norway played beats for people and monitored their micro-movements. Measuring them to the millimeters per second, they found that it was nearly impossible for the subjects to stand completely still. “Nobody has managed it so far,” said Alexander Refsum Jensenius, a University of Oslo professor of music technology. Conducting the examination with genres like Norweigan folk music and traditional Indian music, among others, Jensenius went on to say that electronic dance music induced the most micro-movem...

It will feature a number of rarities in the build-up to her first proper release that encompasses a deluxe 5-CD set that includes unreleased home, live, and radio recordings. Of those recordings, 29 are previously unreleased. “The early stuff, I shouldn’t be such a snob against it,” Mitchell said in a statement. “A lot of these songs, I just lost them. They fell away. I didn’t think it was a good description of what I was. And the...
