BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez served up another scoop of their sweet “Ice Cream” collaboration with an animated dance performance video out Wednesday (Sept. 2). But since the ladies couldn’t get together in person amid the coronavirus pandemic, they went virtual with Zepeto, an app from the South Korean online platform Naver that allows users to create 3-D avatars and interact with each other. The dance performance clip bears a lot of resemblance to the official music video, from the outfit changes down to the inflatable pink waffle cone. And since each member of Selpink had both hands full with their full choreography on display, the animated visual suspends ice cream cones around as delicious decor for a finale that’ll have viewers licking their lips for more. 6ix9ine Compares Himself to 2Pac, Implies He’d Vote for Trump in New York Times Interview

For a guy who was released from prison early due to COVID-19, 6ix9ine isn’t afraid to jump back into the spotlight. The rapper — who cooperated with federal authorities and was sentenced to 24 months after pleading guilty to charges including narcotics trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and violent crime in aid of racketeering — showed no remorse about his crimes, among many other things in a wide-ranging, in-person interview with the New York Times. At one point, the rapper compared himself to 2Pac, who was convicted of felony sex abuse in 1994, telling the Times that “What’s the difference between me and Tupac Shakur? I never caught a rape charge — ever.” When pushed by the Times’ Joe Coscarelli on the question of whether his art adds anything to the worl...

R.I.P. Ian Mitchell, One-Time Member of Bay City Rollers Dies at 67

Ian Mitchell, one-time guitarist of the Scottish pop rock band Bay City Rollers, has died at the age of 67. Mitchell’s tenure in Bay City Rollers was brief, but consequential. He joined the band in early 1976 at the pinnacle of their fame. Just months earlier, their single “Saturday Night” went No. 1 in the US, which was followed soon after by a second top 10 hit in “Money Honey”. However, the success took a toll on founding bassist Alan Longmuir, who departed the band. Mitchell, then only 17, was tapped as his replacement. Mitchell joined Bay City Rollers in the studio as they recorded their 1976 album Dedication, playing rhythm guitar and singing leading vocals on the title track. The resulting album would provide the band with another hit single, as their cover of Dusty Springfield’s “I...

John Boyega Says Backlash Over His Star Wars Character Made Him “Much More Militant”

This summer has seen John Boyega step up as a passionate voice in the Black Lives Matter movement. Some have cautioned that being so vocal would threaten the career he built for himself after staring in the latest Star Wars trilogy. But as the actor revealed in a new cover story for GQ, it’s exactly his experiences making Star Wars that led him to become “much more militant” in the fight for equality. When it was first revealed that Boyega would play a Stormtrooper defector in The Force Awakens, there was a pocket of racist backlash over the idea of a Black member of the First Order. “I’m the only cast member who had their own unique experience of that franchise based on their race,” Boyega told GQ. “Let’s just leave it like that.” He continued, explaining how his “frustration” stems from ...

Big Thief’s Adrianne Lenker Announces Two Solo Albums, Shares “anything”: Stream

Adrianne Lenker of Big Thief has revealed two new solo albums, songs and instrumentals. Both projects are due out October 23rd, and Lenker has provided a preview with the new single “anything”. This wasn’t part of the plan. Lenker had hoped to be on tour with Big Thief most of this year, capitalizing on the success of their twin 2019 releases U.F.O.F. and Two Hands. But when the pandemic scuttled that trek, the notoriously prolific songwriter retreated to a one-room cabin in the mountains of western Massachusetts. With the help of engineer Philip Weinrobe, she embarked on an all-analog (AAA) recording process. They began each day with an improvised acoustic jam, and they ended each session with the same. These off-the-cuff explorations landed on the instrument...

Jeezy Is Dropping ‘The Recession 2’

Source: John Atashian / Getty It has been 12 years since Jeezy, then Young Jeezy, dropped his third album, The Recession. So naturally, the Atlanta rapper revealed that he is working on its proper sequel. “12 years ago today I wrote the Recession, one of my best album to date. As you can see we here again‼️,” was Jeezy’s caption of a video noting the 12-year milestone. The clip makes it obvious that a sequel is on deck, ending with a “2” graphic just after a “2020” graphic that indicates the album will be dropping sometime this year. The Recession‘s singles included “Put On,” featuring Kanye West, and produced by Drumma Boy, “My President,” featuring Nas and the Shawty Redd-produced “Who Dat.”  The album is certified platinum, and that’s before the streaming era.
