Charlamagne Tha God Blames Joe Budden’s Poor Negotiation Skills For “Trash-Ass Deals”

Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty Now that Joe Budden announced his show’s departure from Spotify, Charlamagne Tha God couldn’t help but offer his professional, but possibly blind assessment of what went wrong behind the scenes during the former rapper’s contract renewal with the streaming service. According to his calculations, Budden more than likely has trash negotiation skills. “It sounds to me like Joe Budden is a person who knows his worth but doesn’t know how to properly negotiate it,” Charlamagne said on The Breakfast Club. “‘Cause if you keep doing deals with various corporations and you keep getting trash-ass deals, that’s on you. Things like vacation days, bonuses, all of that has to be negotiated in your contract from the beginning.” [embedded content] On the topic of leverage, Char...

The track, the lyric video for which can be seen below, is taken from her first new studio album in seven years and her first new music as a solo artist in six years, “O”, due on November 6 via Frontiers Music Srl. Says Orianthi: “The album ‘O’ is a very inspired album….kept things pretty raw and didn’t overthink it. Marti [Frederiksen, producer, mixer, songwriter] and I wanted to create a unique sound and vibe with every track and we experimented a lot with synths and different guitar tones. Lyrically, a lot of this record comes from life experience and other people’s stories. It’s going to be so fun to play t...

AC/DC’s BRIAN JOHNSON Is Missing Live Music Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

During an August 29 appearance on “Joe Walsh’s Old Fashioned Rock N’ Roll Radio Show”, AC/DC singer Brian Johnson spoke about how he is dealing with the coronavirus crisis. He said: “I think it’s made us realize how much we took for granted. When you’ve gone to a gig or something and you hear somebody hit that guitar, like your good self, and just knock the snot out of it and you just get that shiver down your back. Now when you hear a band start up, hearing the live music — I think that’s a big miss for everybody.” Asked if he has spoken to AC/DC guitarist Angus Young lately, Brian said: “Actually, it’s the craziest thing. Angus‘s wife, Ella, she loves to cook. And that’s what we were talking about — how to make...

Trivium Honor Riley Gale with Cover of Power Trip’s “Executioner’s Tax” During Livestream: Watch

Power Trip’s Riley Gale, photo by Jon Hadusek / Trivium’s Matt Heafy, via Roadrunner Records Trivium paid their respects to late Power Trip singer Riley Gale, covering the latter’s “Executioner’s Tax (Swing of the Axe)” on a livestream over the weekend. Trivium played the cover on their “Deepest Cuts” livestream in honor of Gale, who tragically died last week at 34 from unspecified causes. Of all of Power Trip’s riff-laden thrash metal songs, “Executioner’s Tax” is arguably their signature anthem due to Gale’s chorus refrain — “Swing of the axe!” — which instantly went down in heavy metal lore when it was released on 2017’s Nightmare Logic. “Talking about love and talking about good times, we had the pleasure of touring with Power Trip on one of our greatest UK/European to...

Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh Details His Brutal COVID-19 Recovery in New Interview

Last week, word leaked that Devo frontman Mark Mothersbaugh was rushed to the ICU in June due to a severe bout with COVID-19. Thankfully, he has since recovered. But in a new interview with The Los Angeles Times, Mothersbaugh has recounted the brutal 18 days he spent at Cedar-Sinai Hospital battling coronavirus in hopes that it may convince others to approach the pandemic, and the dark reality of its life-threatening effects, more cautiously. Mothersbaugh avoided in-person recording sessions after news of the pandemic spread, but he believes he contracted the virus in May after unintentionally coming into contact with a group of people who were at his music production company Mutato Musika. He dismissed his initial symptoms as being unrelated issues until a nurse of three decades informed ...

Look, Up In the Sky: Amazon Gets Approval to Deliver Packages by Drone

Getting an Amazon package delivered from the sky is closer to becoming a reality. The Federal Aviation Administration said Monday (Aug. 31) it had granted Amazon approval to deliver packages by drones. Amazon said that the approval is an “important step,” but added that it is still testing and flying the drones. It did not say when it expected drones to make deliveries to shoppers. The online shopping giant has been working on drone delivery for years, but it has been slowed by regulatory hurdles. Back in December 2013, Amazon CEO and founder Jeff Bezos said in a TV interview that drones would be flying to customer’s homes within five years. Last year, Amazon unveiled self-piloting drones that are fully electric, can carry 5 pounds of goods and are designed to deliver items in 30 minutes b...

The five-piece rediscovered the tracks as they scoured the archives ahead of the 20th anniversary release of Odyssey Number Five, their ARIA Award-winning, chart topping fourth studio album. “We trawled through our hard drives and went, ‘This is actually a pretty good bunch of songs here,'” Powderfinger guitarist Darren Middleton said Monday (Aug. 31) in an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. “‘...

Brandy vs. Monica in ‘Verzuz’ Battle of R&B Titans: See Billboard’s Scorecard & Winner For the Event

All it took was a staggering 1.2 million viewers on Instagram alone during Brandy and Monica’s Verzuz battle Monday night (Aug. 31) to remind the world how next-level their respective catalogs are. After being pitted against each other for more than two decades following their classic 1998 duet “The Boy Is Mine,” the reverence shared between two of modern R&B’s most renowned stars was a joy to see. Not only were fans able to watch the singers celebrate each other’s successes — amidst a few moments of somewhat unavoidable tension — but they also received a message from Vice Presidential candidate Kamala Harris, who called in with a live video message for the two stars, thanking them for their contributions to the culture and using the platf...
