YoungBoy Never Broke Again is facing felony drugs and weapons charges after being arrested in Baton Rouge on Monday night, according to WAFB 9. The rapper, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, was taken into custody alongside 15 other people. Gaulden was reportedly charged with possession of a Schedule I drug and intent to distribute Schedule II and IV drugs, as well as with illegal possession of a firearm. Bon Iver Joins Jim-E Stack on New Single “Jeanie”: Stream

Earlier this year, Bon Iver released “PDLIF”, a COVID-19 benefit single featuring production from Jim-E Stack. Now, the two artists have teamed up once again for “Jeanie”, a new single off Stack’s forthcoming album Ephemera. October may be within sight, but today’s collaboration practically screams summer. Dripping in Autotune, Justin Vernon’s vocals seem weightless like a late-night August breeze. “Don’t want you to feel too much,” he sings, as though kissing off a seasonal fling. Stack’s multicolored, synth-stacked production, meanwhile, provides just the right dose of wistfulness, comfort, and groove. Hear it for yourself below. Ephemera, which also features Empress Of, Dijon, and Kacy Hill, officially arrives October 30th via AWAL. In recent months, Stack also had a hand in Charli XCX’...

Insane Clown Posse on COVID Era, Wokeness, How Eminem Beef Was ‘Hip-Hop History’

I once almost saw Insane Clown Posse’s Violent J naked. In 2013, I was working as ICP’s publicist. We were out in L.A. doing a press tour to promote their Fuse TV show, Insane Clown Posse Theater. It was me, Shaggy, Violent J, and their assistant Chop. We had just arrived at our hotel in Beverly Hills, and J decided to adjourn to his hotel room instead of joining us for dinner. So I got him a salad and an order of boneless chicken wings from a diner down the road. I arrived at his door with the vittles and knocked. No answer. I knocked again. Louder. Still no answer, but I heard a mumbling sound behind the door. Seconds went by. Still nothing. I banged on the door. Hard. The door opened just a crack. “Leave it outside the door! I’m NAAAAAKEEEEEEEED!” Violent J’s voice bellowed down the hal...

Disclosure and Kelis Discuss Inspiration Behind Collaborative Single “Watch Your Step”

As Disclosure‘s ENERGY LP continues its barnstorming ascent up the charts, the Grammy Award-nominated duo recently took time to deconstruct one of the record’s standout singles, “Watch Your Step.” They were joined by the track’s vocalist and collaborator, famed “Milkshake” singer-songwriter Kelis, who offered some insight into its background and inspiration. “I wanted to bring it back to those elements of the 90s, the breakbeat era and how fun that was,” Kelis said. “It should be stuff that you want to repeat. It should be stuff that you want to—that you don’t have to think about. It should just be easy, and it should flow.” The concepts of energy and absorption are deeply explored in Disclosure’s third stud...

After more than 10 years of successfully working together, Nuclear Blast has announced that Polish tech death masters DECAPITATED have decided to refresh their bond and have re-signed with the German metal label for another era of extreme metal. Nuclear Blast USA general manager Gerardo Martinez states: “DECAPITATED has been in my life literally since the band started, and soon after the first time they toured the U.S. with their second album. First time seeing them live, I knew that the band had ‘it.’ Fast forward to the ‘Organic Hallucinosis’ days and I became very good friends with all of them and I haven’t left them since. We’ve gone through highs and lows, but one thing that makes me feel great is that we are here, in 2020, extending their dea...

Bright Eyes Perform Cross-Continental Tiny Desk (Home) Concert: Watch

Artists have been taking some understandable liberties with the conceit of NPR’s Tiny Desk (Home) concert series. Recent performances saw  Billie Eilish in front of a cut-out cardboard set of the NPR offices, Phoebe Bridgers behind a miniature Resolute Desk, and BTS inside a Seoul record shop. Bright Eyes might have them all beat, however, as their Tiny Desk (Home) show featured probably the biggest desk of all: a Neve 8068 recording console. The band’s Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis were at the latter’s ARC Studios in Omaha, Nebraska, where the massive mixing station resides. Their bandmate, Nate Walcott joined virtually from Lucy’s Meat Market in Los Angeles along with backup singer Becky “Lavender Diamond” Stark and their daughter. Despite being far apart and even farther from Bob Boi...

BTS Become Multi-Millionaires After Label Big Hit Goes Public

While the members of BTS have already amassed a large fortune from their chart-topping singles and sold-out stadium tours, today the K-pop superstars added tens of millions of more dollars to their collective net worth. Their latest influx of cash isn’t due to streaming royalties of ticket sales, however. Instead, BTS’s new-found “multi-millionaire” status can be attributed to their record label Big Hit Entertainment going public. According to CNN Business, Big Hit is South Korea’s biggest stock market listing in three years. The company is selling shares at $115 each, and has so far its raked in $822 million. Altogether, the label is currently valued at a colossal $4.1 billion. The seven members of BTS were each given 68,385 shares last month, which are currently valued at ...
