Calvin Harris and The Weeknd Return to Funk with New Single “Over Now”

The highly anticipated collaboration between Calvin Harris and The Weeknd is officially out for our listening pleasure and it does not disappoint. The track shows Harris going back to his Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 days with a slow, soulful anthem for the heartbroken souls of the world. Along with the single comes a neon-soaked CGI video that feels like you’ve entered Tron on a psychedelic trip in Miami. “Over Now” is a shimmery piece of funky, R&B-inspired production. The groove-inducing bass guitar paired with the bright synth work is reminiscent of Daft Punk and allows The Weeknd’s signature crooning to take the lead. It’s the ultimate breakup track for anyone who needs to stand their ground to a persistent ex.   Last week the two superstars shoc...

THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN Frontman GREG PUCIATO: ‘A Pair Of Questions’ Solo Video

“A Pair Of Questions”, the new video from Greg Puciato, the wildly adaptive musician whose resume ranges from the unpredictable THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN to the pop-infused electro outfit THE BLACK QUEEN and the metal supergroup KILLER BE KILLED, can be seen below. The track is taken from Greg‘s debut solo album, “Child Soldier: Creator Of God”, which will be released on October 23. “I’d been writing for so many different projects, DILLINGER, then THE BLACK QUEEN, and KILLER BE KILLED…and I just kept on writing,” explains Puciato of the 15-song album that sees him singing and performing all instruments, save the drums. “It felt as if I had more to say, but nothing that necessarily filled the script of those bands, so I ended up with som...

JOEY JORDISON’s VIMIC Bandmate KALEN CHASE Believes ‘There’s No Bad Blood’ Between Drummer And SLIPKNOT

In a new interview with IndiePower.com, vocalist Kalen Chase spoke about the current status of VIMIC, his collaboration with Joey Jordison. Jordison formed VIMIC in May 2016 after the breakup of his previous band SCAR THE MARTYR. The former SLIPKNOT drummer later said that he wanted to change the name of the project to “wipe the slate clean” and start afresh. In addition to Kalen and Joey, VIMIC featured guitarists Jed Simon and Steve Marshall, bassist Kyle Konkiel and keyboardist Matt Tarach. In October 2017, it was announced that VIMIC had signed a global deal with Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) and T-Boy Records, UMe‘s label partnership with rock manager Andy Gould. The band’s debut album, “Open Your Omen”, was set to be produced by Jordison and Ka...

The Lone Furrow – Rome

RATING: 8/10 Even the shallowest shuffle through neofolk waters will guarantee an encounter with ROME. JEROME REUTER‘s idiosyncratic outfit have been churning out profoundly atmospheric and often startling records since 2006. But, “The Lone Furrow” promises to be many metal fans’ first taste of the band, thanks in part to Reuter’s recent appearance on ME AND THAT MAN‘s second album and, more pertinently, this album’s cameos from NERGAL, Alan Averill (PRIMORDIAL), Joseph D. Rowland (PALLBEARER) and others. Frankly, even though ROME have never exhibited a clear kinship with metal on a musical level, the band’s catalogue brims with the kind of dark, menacing intensity that many of us demand from more extreme musical fare. Meanwhile, as bands lik...

SEBASTIAN BACH And MICHAEL SWEET Defend KISS Against DEE SNIDER’s Criticism

Former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach and STRYPER frontman Michael Sweet have defended KISS after Dee Snider once again criticized Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons for having current KISS members Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer dress up as Peter Criss‘s and Ace Frehley‘s respective “Spaceman” and “Catman” personas. In a recent interview with the “Appetite For Distortion” podcast, the TWISTED SISTER frontman said: “I hate what KISS is doing with Ace and Peter‘s makeup on. I’m not a fan. “When I left TWISTED and I went out at some point doing TWISTED‘s music, I never even thought of calling it TWISTED SISTER without the other four guys. Everyone is saying, ‘But you’re TWISTED SISTER. You wrote the songs.̵...

Time’s Up at 30: Living Colour Reflect on Prophetic Second LP

By 1990, New York City’s Living Colour were one of the hottest new rock bands in America following the success of their debut LP, 1988’s Vivid, and a cherished opening stint on the Rolling Stones’ Steel Wheels tour.  “When we got to Time’s Up, we could reach out to all sorts of people and it was kind of wild,” guitarist Vernon Reid says, noting how the band landed most of their cameo wish list for the recording sessions. “I mean, we got one of our heroes, Mr. Richard Penniman, who just passed away, to appear on ‘Elvis Is Dead.’ Mick Jagger also appears on that song. The other special guest we had on there was Maceo Parker. So we had Little Richard and Maceo Parker on the same track. Then we had Queen Latifah come through for ‘Undercover of Darkness,’ Doug E Fresh for ‘Tag Team Partner...

Guns N’ Roses to Stream Houston, Mexico City Shows From 2016

It’s been a while since Guns N’ Roses shared a live show from their Not in This Lifetime Selects livestream series. But the band is going to stream two gigs to make up for lost time. The sets come from the Houston and Mexico City dates of their original 2016 leg. The Houston show took place at NRG Stadium on Aug. 5. The Mexico City airing is slightly unclear because the band played multiple shows in the Mexican capital city that year. The sets, though, are similar. The rockers launched their Not in This Lifetime Selects streaming series in May by sharing a 2019 show from Salt Lake City at Vivint Smart Home Arena. They followed with their 2018 slot at the Download Festival in the U.K. Guns N’ Roses played one show this year (coincidentally, in Mexico) befo...

White Man In Blackface Rolled Up To DC Protest, Gets Jaw Tapped & Police Protection [Video]

Source: @BGOnTheScene / Twitter In case any of you culturally insensitive or blatantly racist white people have yet to get the memo, Blackface is forever a no go. Nevertheless, a goofy white dude rolled up to a protest in Washington, DC in blackface and eventually got sucker-punched in the jaw. A crowd was gathered near the White House—near the street painted with Black Lives Matter—protesting the Republican National Convention. Participants were none too pleased at the bigoted bro, and let him know that he had to go. Someone can be heard yelling “Get out of here.” The cops were actually escorting him away, and that’s when the video footage kicks off. As the racist troll is being told to keep it moving, a man rolls up quickly punches him in the jaw. The fade issuer runs off while police gi...

Jacob Blake’s Dad Says Speaking To Joe Biden & Kamala Harris Was Like Speaking To “Family”

Source: Scott Olson / Getty Days have past since Kenosha police officer Rusten Shesky shot an unarmed Jacob Blake 7 times in the back, and while Racist-In-Chief Donald Trump has yet to even say the man’s name, Joe Biden is out here filling the void you’d expect from a Commander-In-Chief. TMZ is reporting that the democrat Presidential candidate along with his running mate, Kamala Harris reached out to the Blake family to express their support and help comfort them as they try and cope with their new reality. Jacob Blake’s father – also named Jacob Blake – revealed that he and his family were contacted by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris after the attempted murder of their son by officer Shesky, and admitted they were nervous to speak to them initially but were calmed down once they spoke a...
