Earlier today (Thursday, August 27), PEARL JAM released the following statement from McCready via social media: “Thank you NBA, WNBA, MLB, and MLS for using your platform to protest and stand for equality in this country. “We have to be continuous allies because we are up against 400 years of systemic oppression written into the laws of this country — laws that made it impossible to protest, ...

Actor JASON MOMOA Gets Advance Copy Of METALLICA’s ‘S&M2’ Release: ‘It’s Amazing’

Jason Momoa, the hulking star of the superhero film “Aquaman” and diehard metalhead, got his hands on an early copy of the upcoming “Metallica And San Francisco Symphony: S&M²” release. His short video review of the set can be seen below. The Hawaiian-born actor, who is perhaps best-known for his role as Khal Drogo in HBO fantasy epic “Game Of Thrones”, is a huge heavy metal fan, having previously said that he listened to a lot of PANTERA, METALLICA and MUDVAYNE to get himself into the right frame of mind for playing a warrior like Conan in Marcus Nispel‘s remake of the classic Arnold Schwarzenegger action adventure “Conan The Barbarian”. More recently, he tapped vocalist Oli Peters of the Canadian death metal band ARCHSPIRE to coac...

METALLICA’s KIRK HAMMETT: ‘Junior Dad’ From ‘Lulu’ Album Is ‘A Real Accomplishment, Just As Much As ‘Ride The Lightning’ Is’

METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett has once again defended “Lulu”, the band’s controversial collaborative disc with Lou Reed, calling it “a real accomplishment.” “Lulu” polarized fans around the world and earned METALLICA some of the most scathing reviews of its career. The effort featured the late THE VELVET UNDERGROUND frontman’s spoken-word poetry and lyrics combined with METALLICA‘s musical assault for a jarring experience that didn’t sound like anything METALLICA had ever attempted before. Speaking to Marin Independent Journal, Kirk said about “Lulu”: “I have always been a big supporter of that album, even when all my friends are shaking their heads and looking at me going, ‘Bro, what were you thinking?&...

In celebration of her No. 1 album Such Pretty Forks in the Road, Alanis Morissette invited a select few to a virtual escape room experience Thursday (Aug. 27) to find the prettiest fork in the room. Her ninth studio album topped Billboard‘s Top Rock Albums two weeks ago (chart dated Aug. 15) following its release on July 31. But the pressure was on to follow suit and come out victorious with the missing item from her recording studio. In the 15-minute simulation presented virtually by the Anaheim-based escape room center Mission Escape Games, Amy the sound engineer misplaced the prettiest fork, and it was up to us to find it so the famed singer-songwriter could finish her album. Morissette’s catalog lent itself nicely as various clues, from a poster of her H...
