For the past decade, THE PRETTY RECKLESS has been putting out stadium-worthy rock anthems. Their sophomore album, 2014’s “Going To Hell”, earned the group three No. 1 rock hits on Billboard, including for “Heaven Knows”. For the latest episode of Grammy.com‘s “Press Play” series, the powerhouse act performs an acoustic rendition of “House On A Hill” from “Going To Hell”. Frontwoman Taylor Momsen describes the heart-wrenching song (inspired by the Vietnam War) as a “cry for humanity.” THE PRETTY RECKLESS‘s upcoming album, “Death By Rock And Roll”, is the band’s first to be made without longtime producer Kato Khandwala, who died in April 2018 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle acc...
American rock legend Alice Cooper is gearing up to bring his fans a different type of release this fall, something a little spicy. The beloved godfather of shock rock announced today he has partnered with the world’s largest specialty hot sauce distributor, Hot Shots. In collaboration with his publishing company, Primary Wave Music, Cooper is releasing three different hot sauces based on his hit songs, “Welcome To My Nightmare”, “No More Mr. Nice Guy” and “Poison”. All three hot sauces are now available and can be found at select stores and online globally. Alice‘s “Welcome To My Nightmare” hot sauce is the mildest of the three. With the great taste of the medium heat of Serrano chiles, the sauce also brings an early flavor of lim...
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH guitarist Zoltan Bathory has shared advice on how to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. Speaking to “Offstage With DWP”, the Hungarian-born musician, who currently resides in Las Vegas, said (see video below): “This will be over. Life will return to normal. “You have to realize that what we’re dealing with now, while this is horrible in some ways, in some way, it’s a little bit overplayed; in some way, it’s overblown; in some way, the media are [fanning] the flames here. There are many ways to look at this. But the [coronavirus] is real; people do die from it. “Now, if you look at the history of this planet, the things we survived as humans — much bigger, much worse,” he explained. “Two world wars and all ...
Sammy Hagar and his CIRCLE bandmates have once teamed up via the Internet to record music. After previously connecting via their smartphones from four separate locations to lay down a brand new song titled “Funky Feng Shui”, as well as covers of THE WHO‘s “Won’t Get Fooled Again”, VAN HALEN‘s “Good Enough”, BOB MARLEY & THE WAILERS‘ “Three Little Birds”, BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD‘s “For What It’s Worth”, Little Richard‘s “Keep A-Knockin'” and AC/DC‘s “Whole Lotta Rosie”, among others, they have now regrouped — in a virtual sense — to cover SAMMY HAGAR AND THE WABORITAS‘ “Sympathy For The Human”. Check out video of the performance below. Hagar s...
Damn, can you believe it’s been 20 years since Yeah Yeah Yeahs played their first show? Crazy. Many in the audience that night didn’t realize that Karen O. and company would outgrow the club in no time, not did they likely expect the band to — wisely and presciently — film that very first gig. On the 20th anniversary of that occasion, the band unearthed footage from that show at New York City’s Mercury Lounge. As the band notes on their Facebook page, the night was pretty power-packed, as the rest of the bill included “local favorites Candy Darlings, Kid Congo Powers, and up and comers from Detroit The White Stripes.” Those up and comers ended up having a pretty good career as well. That said, Yeah Yeah Yeahs shared a clip from that night, a performance of “Our Time,” which you c...
She is beauty, she is grace, and she is back, baby! Bringing us a blessing in these trying times is certified EDM badass Alison Wonderland, taking us to church yet again with the release of “Bad Things” and its corresponding music video. Out today via Astralwerks, it is the first single out ahead of an upcoming third studio album, due in early 2021. Kicking off with a cushy orchestral soundscape, “Bad Things” brings Wonderland’s much beloved discography to an astonishing peak. It naturally incorporates Wonderland’s raw, wistful vocals into its arrangement, following the lead of acclaimed albums Awake and Run, while resonating around the sobering and cautiously optimistic lyric, “Don’t fall in love with the bad things / R...
After dropping a wild, futuristic remix of Eiffel 65‘s infamous track “Blue (Da Ba Dee)” out of left field, Flume has ears perking up once again. The Australian producer posted a new teaser clip of a work in progress to his Instagram story yesterday, and fans are already speculating on what the full track will sound like. Glistening, atmospheric chords give an eerie yet beautiful ambiance to the track. The 14-second clip doesn’t reveal much beyond that, but the Flume faithful have already taken to forums like Reddit to fully dissect what’s going on within the producer’s Ableton project file. Check out the clip below. “A lot my music lately has been really sharp, because that’s what’s been exciting me, but it’s also been hard to ...
Every year in Northern California, thousands of Dirtybird diehards gather for the annual Dirtybird Campout festival. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, that gathering can’t take place in 2020. Luckily, Dirtybird has things covered via the power of the Internet. The label has just announced its lineup for “Couchout,” this year’s livestream stand-in for the annual campout, and it’s a big one indeed. Viewers will be treated to sounds across the spectrum of electronic music, with performers from the Dirtybird label and beyond. DJ sets from house heavyweights such as Carl Craig, Mark Knight, Marc Houle, and Walker & Royce are sure to be a big hit, and a healthy helping of bass will be served up by the likes of Ed Rush & Optic...
Genre crossover songs are nothing new. They have generally been enjoyed by music lovers since 70s prog rock, some of the nostalgic nu-metal of the early 2000s (yes, it was good), or that time when Nelly and Tim McGraw teamed up for the inimitable “Over And Over.” Not only is EDM no exception to this genre-bending rule, it’s actually the genre of music that tends to breach into crossover territory the most. Over the years, we’ve seen metal-infused dubstep, big room folk-house, orchestral bass, and most recently, EDM poster snack Marshmello and pop country dreamboat Kane Brown‘s collaboration, “One Thing Right.” The track was a big hit that certainly teetered along the lines of country. In fact, it would appear that the inclusion...
Like all other live shows, Saturday Night Live had to make due earlier this year with socially-distanced episodes. That changes when the new season begins. Chris Rock will host the first in-studio episode since the pandemic first hit. Megan Thee Stallion will be the musical guest to begin the 46th season on October 3. This is the third time Rock will return to SNL as a host (he was a cast member from 1990-1993) and Megan Thee Stallion’s first proper appearance on the sketch comedy show — she popped up with Chance the Rapper last year on “Handsome.” As if that wasn’t enough, Jim Carrey will also feature as Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden in the run-up to the election — kicking off what’s sure to be a politically charged month. Rock will also star in the up...
Marilyn Manson has unveiled a new music video for “DON’T CHASE THE DEAD” starring The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus. “DON’T CHASE THE DEAD” was recently released as the second single from Manson’s latest album, WE ARE CHAOS, which arrived earlier this month. The LP debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart, marking Manson’s eighth consecutive album to land in the Top 10. Reedus, who has played Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead since the beginning of the popular AMC series, co-stars alongside Manson in the cinematic video for “DON’T CHASE THE DEAD”. The clip depicts a heist gone violently wrong, along with scenes of Manson singing the song. Manson discussed “DON’T CHASE THE DEAD” in our recent interview with the singer. He told us that the track is “a very driving song, but whe...
Cartalk is the indie rock project of Los Angeles musician Chuck Moore (they/them), and today they’ve announced their debut album, Pass Like Pollen. You may not know who Cartalk is just yet, but chances are many of your favorite indie artists probably do. The forthcoming record was produced by Sarah Tudzin, a.k.a. Illuminati Hotties, and it features numerous contributions from musicians that have also worked with Lucy Dacus, Vagabon, Runnner, and more. Collin Pastore (boygenius, Julien Baker) mixed the record, and it was mastered by Jett Galindo (Neil Young, Nile Rodgers) at the LA institution The Bakery. Those are some pretty tall endorsements for a debut album, but Moore’s songwriting exceeds the hype. Four of the album’s nine songs, including today’s “Las Manos”, have tri...
