Ex-DIO Guitarist ROWAN ROBERTSON Says RONNIE JAMES DIO Hologram Is ‘Great’: ‘What’s Not To Love?’

Former DIO guitarist Rowan Robertson has praised the Ronnie James Dio hologram, saying that “it’s like seeing the DIO songs brought to life in a different way.” The former vocalist in BLACK SABBATH and RAINBOW, who died in 2010 at the age of 67, is now the subject of a touring show in which his three-dimensional representation is backed by members of his band DIO. Robertson, who was 17 years old when he joined DIO, was asked for his opinion of the Ronnie hologram during an appearance on a recent episode of the “Music Mania” podcast. He said (see video below): “I really enjoyed it. I saw it at the Wiltern [in Los Angeles]. And I think it’s like seeing the DIO songs brought to life in a different way, with wonderful visuals. And you get to enjoy the ...

Misanthropic Breed – LIK

RATING: 8.5/10 There were a handful of songs on LIK‘s last album, “Carnage”, that were so absurdly exciting that I couldn’t listen to them while driving. You know, just in case. The Swedish band have only existed for seven years at this point, but “Misanthropic Breed” proves again that they have virtually no equal when it comes to insanely hard-hitting and obscenely catchy old-school (and fervently Swedish) death metal. If you agree that there are few things more exciting than the first few minutes of ENTOMBED‘s “Left Hand Path”, then you will definitely love the way “The Weird” explodes at the start of this monstrous record. Two minutes and 34 seconds later, it stops abruptly, and “Decay” erupts: another immacul...

Wave Racer Returns With Vibrant New Single “Higher”

Wave Racer has returned after a one-year hiatus with his new single “Higher.” In order to refresh his creative muscles, he hunkered down in London, joining forces with PC Music‘s Danny L Harle (of Charli XCX fame) who encouraged him to experiment with new instrumental elements and production conventions. With the help of co-writer L Devine, Wave Racer is ready to showcase his vibrant new single.  “Higher” is a pure and bubbly pop-centric track that serves to uplift the listener. The youthful-feeling production is bursting with effervescent synths and sun-kissed melodies that will transport you to the feel-good futuristic world Wave Racer has created. “For me, the song functions not only as an ode to the notion of ascension, but it’s also a kin...

For $199, You Can Look Like a Cringey Daft Punk-Esque Astronaut With This Pandemic-Proof Helmet

Thanks to a bizarre new pandemic-proof wearable, you can now look like an astronaut plucked out of an early 90s pre-Daft Punk helmet blueprint. For $199, you can squeeze your head into MicroClimate‘s freakish “AIR” helmet, which the company is touting as a safe and stylish alternative to protect against COVID-19. More of a clumsy fishbowl than a trendy fashion statement, the new wearable cycles both inlet and outlet air through HEPA filters and contains a patented acrylic visor, which offers a clear view of the cosmonaut DJ behind it. Despite its Black Mirror-esque appearance and inherently comical existence, though, the “AIR” model comes with a laundry list of impressive tech specs. In addition to its state-of-the-art fan-powered ventilati...

Old Burning Man Sculptures Find a Home at New “Area 15” Art Complex

Since the Burning Man festivities were brought to a screeching halt in 2020, one man is keeping the festival’s spirit alive by featuring a number of its awe-inspiring sculptures with a new art complex called “Area 15.” The mysterious Las Vegas bunker opened in the desert last week as the brainchild of Michael Beneville, a 10-year Burning Man veteran whose dream was to bring the ineffable communal spirit of the festival to the outside world. “Burning Man is its own very special thing,” Beneville told Artnet News during a virtual tour last week. “It’s 68,000 of the most creative people on the planet coming together to build something that’s just extraordinary. I’m humble enough to know that we would never try to recreate Burning Man.” Art I...

Watch Kevin Parker Bring His “Tame Impala Soundsystem” to Jimmy Fallon with “Borderline” Performance

Kevin Parker is keeping Tame Impala fans satiated through the ongoing live concert drought with a steady stream of remote performances. Last night he was the featured artist on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, returning to play “Borderline” from his hit album The Slow Rush. He was joined by his two constituents, Jay Watson and Don Simper, who he collectively dubs the “Tame Impala Soundsystem.” The trio patched in from Parker’s now-signature VHS-camcorder, showcasing his smooth vocals alongside a plethora of synthesizers, keyboards, and drum machines. He has perfected creating retro art for the current age, melding his psychedelic-pop stylings with the mainstream.  So far, Parker has lit up screens with performances on Mark RonsonR...

Bree Runway Shares New Song “Little Nokia”: Stream

Emerging songwriter Bree Runway has shared the thumping new song “Little Nokia”. Born Brenda Mensah in Hackney, London, Bree first gained international attention for the 2019 EP Be Runway, and she blew up earlier this year when the music video for “Apeshit” went viral. She specializes in what she calls “destructive pop,” and she’s happy to plunder sounds from other genres to make her point. “Little Nokia” is a great example of her wandering ear — it’s built around heavy-metal guitars, placed within a hip-hop structure, and finished with a sugary pop topline. Lyrically, the song is about a gorgeous guy who spends all his free time doing drugs, which she references by the names of celebrities who use them. In a statement, she explained that the song is based on a true story. She sa...

Bob’s Burgers Renewed for Two More Seasons by Fox

Bob’s Burgers was renewed for Season 11 mere months ago, and it looks like the animated series won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. Fox just gave an order for Season 12 and 13 of the Emmy-winning TV show as well, reports Deadline. “Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers are key pillars of our network’s success. By taking the genre to new heights and driving pop culture in meaningful ways, they’ve laid the foundation for making Animation Domination one of the most powerful program blocks in all of television,” said Michael Thorn, President, Entertainment, Fox Entertainment. “Both of these two-season renewals affirm once again our commitment to animation and empower us to continue in our build as the leader in the space with distinct and fresh new comedies. We’d like to thank Seth, Loren and their en...

Oh Sees (as Osees) Announce New EP Weirdo Hairdo

John Dwyer and his collaborators in Osees (formerly Oh Sees)  are great friends to their fans and terrible enemies to their fans’ bank accounts. Hours after detailing their forthcoming remix LP Panther Rotate, the prolific rockers have revealed yet another new release: a limited edition EP called Weirdo Hairdo. It’s only available for pre-order, with sales ceasing October 1st. Weirdo Hairdo will be released as a 12-inch and feature the popular cover of Alice Cooper and the Spiders “Don’t Blow Your Mind” that they shared in a rehearsal video earlier this year. The EP is rounded out by the title track and the song “Tear Ducks”. In a statement, the band described the new music as “loose limbed and lysergic,” which means psychedelic, for those who’ve never dropped acid...

Zack Snyder to Shoot New Justice League Scenes in October: Report

When Warner Bros. finally agreed to let Zack Snyder finish his director’s cut of Justice League, they were pretty clear that there would be no reshoots. After all, they were dumping some $30 million into the project just for re-editing and special effects work alone. However, it now seems the studio has reversed course, as The Hollywood Reporter has it that a “week- or so- long” shoot to capture new footage is set to take place next month. According to THR, much of the principal cast is expected to return for Snyder’s new shoot. That includes Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and — most surprising of all — Ray Fisher as Cyborg. Fisher had a large portion of his character’s story excised when Joss Whedon took over directing and rewriting duties from...

Should Teen Mom 2‘s Chelsea Let Aubree Get An iPhone?

Aubree is growing up before our very eyes on Teen Mom 2 — and now Chelsea‘s daughter feels she is ready for a mature purchase. “She’s been asking for a phone, and literally everyone around me thinks she should get a phone,” Chelsea told her friend Laura while they were out with Aubree during this week’s episode. But Laura didn’t agree with her pal and stated that none of her kids have a cell phone — something Aubree didn’t like. “Stop giving her ideas!” Aubs retorted. Laura had another idea: to get a fliphone or a Razr. “Excuse me? I want an iPhone!” Aubree exclaimed. Chelsea then discussed the topic with another pal. “I keep going back and forth. People will give me such valid points on why she should,” Chelsea ...

Dr. Dre’s Soon To Be Ex-Wife Accused Of Cashing Out His Bank Account

Source: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz The divorce proceedings between Dr. Dre and his soon to be ex-wife are uncovering some serious dirt. She has apparently left a paper trail of pilfering from the piggy bank. As spotted on TMZ Nicole Young’s reputation is now being put to the test. Last week the iconic producer’s attorney Larry Chatman provided proof that she had allegedly helped herself to a big bag to the tally of $353,571.85. According to a formal letter written by the lawyer she wrote herself a check from his Record One Studio’s bank account back in 2015. Even though she had been appointed as a trustee and signatory for the account he claims the transaction was not authorized and called the move embezzlement. Furthermore he demanded that she return the monies or that a fo...
