Feds Claim Jam Master Jay Was Murdered Over Drug Dealing Dispute
Source: Icon and Image / Getty After damn near 20 years, two men have finally been indicted in the murder of the late, great Jam Master Jay. However, the details surrounding the rap pioneer’s death are only opening old wounds instead of offering complete closure. According to the Feds, the motive behind the shooting and death of Run-DMC’s DJ, born Jason Mizell, was due to a drug dealing dispute. Per the prosecutors in the case, JMJ had been allegedly dealing cocaine for six years, and squeezing an old partner out of a deal is what lead to his death on October 30, 2002. Ronald “Tinard” Washington, 56, and Karl Jordan Jr., 36, were hit with murder charges for rushing into Jay’s Queens studio and gunning him down. Throughout quarantine, Pat Finnerty has been challenging himself to play every section of a song and sharing it on Instagram Live. And over the weekend, Finnerty, who’s a Dave Grohl superfan, decided to hop on another project called ‘Grohlathon’ as a means to get the Foo Fighters frontman to join him on a cover of Dire Straits’ “Money for Nothing.” And nine hours into his marathon IG Live session, Grohl finally crept in. “What the fuck are you guys doing?” Grohl yelled as he found his cardboard cut-out on Finnerty’s screen. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles is getting a remake. As Deadline reports, Paramount Pictures has commissioned a modern update of John Hughes’ 1987 holiday classic with stars Will Smith and Kevin Hart in the lead. Brooklyn 99 and Woke writer Aeysha Carr will pen the script and make her feature film screenwriting debut. Not surprisingly, both Smith and Hart will also serve as producers on the project via Westbrook Studios and Hartbeat Productions, respectively. The original film starred Steve Martin and the late John Candy as two unlikely bedfellows who are forced to rely on each other as they find a way home before the Thanksgiving holiday. The metal giants are sharing the set from their historic “Big 4” show at Yankee Stadium in 2011. In 2010 and 2011, Metallica played a series of “Big 4” concerts with fellow members of the big four of thrash: Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax. The Yankee Stadium gig on September 14th, 2011, marked the last of those shows, and was attended by roughly 42,000 fans. The Ellen DeGeneres Show experienced some senior personnel shakeups on Monday afternoon. As Variety reports, executive producers Ed Glavin, Kevin Leman, and Jonathan Norman have all “parted ways” with the series following Warner Media’s investigation over allegations of misconduct and an environment of fear. As previously reported, Glavin, Leman, and Norman had been cited in a report from Buzzfeed that ran at the end of July. At the time, they were immediately suspended, though sources report their contracts have since been terminated. What’s more, Leman and Glavin have also been dismissed from other DeGeneres-produced shows. Quinn Coleman, a major label executive, DJ and son of former BET chief Debra Lee and Randy Coleman, died suddenly on Sunday (Aug. 16) at the age of 31. Currently, Coleman’s cause of death remains unknown.
