Faye Webster Shares New Song “Better Distractions”: Stream

Faye Webster has returned with a new song called “Better Distractions”. Additionally, our former Artist of the Month has announced her first full-band livestream performance of 2020. “Better Distractions” follows the excellent one-off single “In A Good Way” from April, and marks the second offering since her 2019 LP Atlanta Millionaires Club. As with its predecessor, today’s track continues to push Webster’s sound in a gorgeously singular direction. It finds harmony between smooth R&B and minimalist indie rock, with the added bonus of a weepy slide guitar lead and a meandering jam in the vein of Kurt Vile or Courtney Barnett. In a statement, Webster revealed that the song flowed out of her with very little intention or purpose. “It’s a kind of free association, just thoughts running st...

Marilyn Manson on Ozzy Osbourne: “He Had This Strange Mystique That He’s Never Really Escaped From”

Marilyn Manson was set to support Ozzy Osbourne on tour this year, but those dates were canceled as Ozzy sought treatment for various health issues. Just as fans were excited to see the Antichrist Superstar and the Prince of Darkness on tour together, Manson himself was looking forward to hitting the road with Ozzy again. This past Friday (September 11th), Manson unleashed his 11th album, WE ARE CHAOS, but it was originally set to be released in time for his planned spring/summer tour with Ozzy. As Manson told us, not only was he concerned for Ozzy’s health, he had to rethink his own plans for 2020. “It was very upsetting when I found out that Ozzy couldn’t do the tour and that he [had health issues], and that was before the pandemic hit,” Manson remarked. “At the time for me, it complicat...

The Notorious B.I.G.’s Plastic Crown Sells at Auction for $594,000

Now, that same circlet has fetched $594,750 at Sotheby’s first ever hip-hop auction. The bidding took place Tuesday, September 15th, and other notable items up for grabs included a one-of-a-kind Def Jam jacket and a triptych of paintings by Fab Five Freddy. But the plastic coronet was always going to be the star of the auction. Now 57, Claiborne photographed Biggie wearing the crown in 1997, three days before his death. The stunning images later appeared in Rap Pages magazine, but as Claiborne recalled, the shoot almost didn’t happen. At the time, Bad Boy Records owner Sean “Puffy” Combs was against the whole concept. Claiborne expl...

In a recent interview with Australia’s HEAVY Magazine, Lee ruminated on his internal instincts as an artist and how his many sonic influences are sneaking into his workflow in a variety of forms.  To better illustrate his point, Lee brought up Skrillex, who was clearly top-of-mind. Lee expressed a certain creative alignment with Skrillex due to their shared appreciation for electronic and metal and shared instinct to take their music into heavier sonic territory.  “What I do, though, is if you think about it, and if you listen to the beats, a lot of the sounds on t...

JUDAS PRIEST’s ROB HALFORD Says He Once Tried To Seduce IRON MAIDEN’s PAUL DI’ANNO

Rob Halford says that he once tried to seduce former IRON MAIDEN frontman Paul Di’Anno. The JUDAS PRIEST singer made the revelation in his upcoming autobiography, “Confess”, which has already been described by the U.K.’s The Telegraph as “one of the most candid and surprising memoirs of the year.” In the book, Halford recalls inviting Di’Anno back to his hotel room when MAIDEN supported PRIEST on a 1980 tour. Just prior to the trek, Di’Anno was quoted in a music paper as saying that that MAIDEN was going to “blow the bollocks off PRIEST” on the trek, a statement which irked then-PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing enough to want to remove MAIDEN from the bill. Halford writes, according to Metal Hammer: “We didn’t really hang...

TWISTED SISTER‘s Dee Snider has slammed a group of anti-mask protesters for blasting the band’s classic song “We’re Not Gonna Take It” while defiantly marching through a Target in South Florida without any face coverings. A video that was originally posted on Reddit shows the protesters, including one who was wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat, chanting “Take your mask off” and playing “We’re Not Gonna Take It” on a portable device at customers who looked on. “Fucking idiots,” the woman who filmed the video muttered to herself. NIKKI SIXX Explains Why He Is Reluctant To Publicly Speak Out On Political Issues

In a new interview with Yahoo!, MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx spoke about the backlash he and some of his peers, like Axl Rose or Sebastian Bach or Dee Snider, have gotten for expressing liberal or anti-Donald Trump views in the past. “We could do a whole interview where I would tell you my opinion on this administration, and other administrations, but I’m not a politician, I’m a rock star, and people don’t want me to talk about stuff like that,” he said. “They tell me to ‘stay in my lane’ and just stick to playing bass. I don’t really want to just stick to playing bass, but I don’t want to alienate and have a mudslinging contest.” Asked if he would ever go into politics, Sixx, who is considered to be one of music’s leading...

The song was written in the early days of the pandemic and “is a “kind of a quarantine daydream that I needed to have,” singer E (aka Mark Oliver Everett) said in a statement.
