Missy Elliott is suing to confirm she is the sole owner of several early recordings. Legendary hip-hop artist Missy Elliott is taking producer Terry Williams to court amid an ongoing legal battle surrounding several of her early recordings from nearly thirty years ago. In the early 1990s, Elliott visited Williams’ studio to rehearse on several occasions shortly following her success in the group Sista. During the sessions, 34 recordings were created, which Williams then later attempted to sell back to Elliott in 2017. Williams’ representative allegedly implied the producer would attempt to sell the recordings to someone else if Elliott did not buy them herself. The interaction sparked a lawsuit in which Williams sued the hit-making songstress for a breach ...

Elle unveiled Cardi B as their September cover star on Tuesday (Aug. 11), and in her cover story, the outspoken rapper got candid about the murder of Breonna Taylor, her upcoming sophomore album and more. “That is so insane to me,” she said of the 26-year-old EMT, who was fatally shot while asleep by three Louisville police officers executing a no-knock search warrant on her apartment back in March. “[I saw] Breonna Taylor’s name everywhere, but I didn’t really know her story. What they did to her is really f–ked up. Really f–ked up. What’s the excuse? Why is the cop not in jail? Wasn’t what he did a crime? It’s a crime! And no apology. No apology. No video of the cop coming out crying, ‘I f–ked up. I don’t this. I don’t that.’ Nothing. It’s nothing. I d...
Celebrities are making all kinds of things during the COVID-19 pandemic: bread, viral TikTok videos, surprise albums and unnecessarily elaborate meals. And while we won’t know until later this year, some of them might also be cooking up lockdown babies. Not Justin Bieber and wife Hailey Bieber, though. While promoting the YouTube web series Justin Bieber: Seasons at the PaleyFest LA even on Friday (Aug. 7), the 23-year-old newlywed model was asked if she and her hubby are planning to expand their family with all the time off this year. “We didn’t make any babies, so that’s that,” Hailey said. “Honestly, I really do think we’ve enjoyed this time,” she added, describing how the filming of the series coincided with the couple trying to figure out their new relationship status as t...

Christina Aguilera took to social media on Monday (Aug. 10) to show off how she’s soaking up the sunshine this summer. “Cheers…Drop your favorite summertime emoji below!” she wrote to her fans alongside a slideshow of snaps showing her posing atop a sparkly pool float wearing a white, wide-brimmed straw hat and matching dress, all while enjoying a glass of white wine. The superstar served up major Parent Trap vibes with the look, bringing to mind the 1998 Disney classic’s villainous stepmother played by Elaine Hendrix. The actress took notice of the homage to Meredith Baxter as well, retweeting Aguilera’s photoshoot and asking the star, “Hey girl. Which vineyard you at?” {“nid”:”9431635″,”type”:”post&...
QUEEN‘s Brian May has thanked firefighters for combatting a forest fire which threatened his home over the weekend. The legendary guitarist took to Instagram yesterday to say that he was forced to evacuate his home and studio property after the wildfire broke out and spread less than a mile from his house on the Sunningdale Golf Course. The 73-year-old wrote: “I never imagined it could happen here in leafy, and normally damp, Surrey, England. “We supported the fight against the immense fires in Australia, and watched sadly as fires ravaged California, but to see this happen in my own home county has been shocking and traumatic. “Today we were able to begin to thank the amazing firefighters who risked their lives to contain this huge and treacherous wild furnace on t...

A year before Creem launched, in 1969, Rolling Stone launched. Both publications grabbed their name, more or less, from British bands. Dave Marsh called Creem’s home Detroit the ugliest part of the universe, and many boundary-pushing musicians emanated from there. It was a perfect breeding ground for “America’s Only Rock and Roll Magazine,” as they liked to call themselves. And now there’s a great new documentary about the magazine and its madcap days, called Creem: America’s Only Rock and Roll Magazine. With an impressive array of talking heads and vintage footage, the filmmakers have put together a delightful glimpse into the birth of an unlikely chronicler of the nascent music scene. Alice Cooper talks about the rock bands affectionately checking out the Motown acts. Michael Stipe was i...
