Watch Destructo’s Stunning “Somewhere in the California Desert” Sunrise Sermon

The MVP of quaran-streams strikes again. The MVP of quaran-streams strikes again. House maven and music entrepreneur Destructo touched down in the desert on August 9th, 2020 for a mind-blowing edition of his patented “Sunrise Sermon” sets.  Over 200,000 fans tuned into the hypnotic three-hour set, which was filmed at an undisclosed remote secret location in the California desert. Ensconced in the idyllic desert setting, Destructo went on to drop a set as majestic as the cavernous landscape around him, starting at 4AM. The renowned producer and DJ played a bevy of tunes from his house music counterparts, like VOLAC‘s “Muchacho,” Full Intention‘s “Meteor Man,” Eelke Kleijn‘s “Vernietig,” and Brodinski‘...

Journey Into the Deep Melodic Stylings of Jaakob’s “Yours”

A hypnotic single from the deepest depths of the house music spectrum. Swedish DJ and producer Jaakob is here with his debut single “Yours,” a stellar single that explores the most cavernous depths of the house music spectrum. “Yours” is a hypnotic deep house ballad that serves as an emphatic debut from the Swedish young gun. It’s a subtle yet soaring track with angelic vocals and entrancing synth work, which combine to serenade listeners through a melodic audial journey. Sometimes simpler songs triumph over complex arrangements and sound design, and “Yours” is a fantastic example, using lush soundscapes and shimmering synths to spellbinding effect. “Yours” also received a cosign from YouTuber Logan Paul, who recently used the sing...

This Early Sixties Guitar Owned by Jimi Hendrix Sold for $216,000 at an Auction

A pretty penny for a pretty piece. Few artists have had as large of an impact on contemporary music—including the electronic genre—as Jimi Hendrix. The late musician, who remains one of the most prolific songwriters and legendary guitarists to have ever lived, was described as “the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music” by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. A guitar owned by Hendrix in the early sixties has now sold for a whopping $216,000. According to GWS Auctions, he played the Japanese sunburst electric guitar shortly after he returned home from the US Army in 1962. Hendrix then moved to London in 1966 and left the guitar in the New York apartment belonging to one of his best friends, Mike Quashie. “After leaving Fort Campbell Jimi moved to...

How PANTERA Was Influenced By EXHORDER

In a brand new interview with Poisoned Rock webzine, guitarist Marzi Montazeri of New Orleans-based thrash metal pioneers EXHORDER was asked to comment on his band’s alleged influence on PANTERA‘s decision to move from a power metal act to a more aggressive form of thrash. “Look, you’re asking a question from someone that actually was a part of it,” Marzi responded (see video below). “I actually remember the first [PANTERA] show with [singer] Phil [Anselmo] was in Shreveport. I saw that show, and they opened up with [a] VAN HALEN [cover] and they would do Ozzy [Osbourne]. They would do some covers and they would do originals. And then there was a time period where they kind of separated. Dimebag [guitarist Darrell Abbott] went and auditioned for MEGADETH...

IAN PAICE Says Mutual Respect Is Key To DEEP PURPLE’s Longevity

In a new interview with Italy’s Radio Freccia, Ian Paice spoke about DEEP PURPLE‘s longevity and the role friendship and mutual respect have played in keeping the band together for so long. “I think it was the stresses and strains that helped create the band, but if those same problems were with us today, we would not be here,” Ian said (see video below). “We have a situation where, as you get a little older and hopefully a little wiser, you understand that not everybody is gonna see the world the way you see it, and those differences you have to allow for,” he explained. “The fact that you may not agree with the way one of the bandmembers lives his life has nothing to do with you. So long as he turns up and he plays the music and he plays it good,...

MOTIONLESS IN WHITE Releases ‘Another Life/Eternally Yours: Motion Picture Collection’

MOTIONLESS IN WHITE has unveiled a new EP titled “Another Life/Eternally Yours: Motion Picture Collection”. Produced by Justin Deblieck and mixed by Steve Sopchack, the EP is available now on all streaming platforms. For the project, the acclaimed Scranton, Pennsylvania band reimagined, and reinvigorated two fan-favorite singles: “Another Life” and “Eternally Yours”. Additionally, they included brand new cinematic instrumental tracks for both. For this big screen-worthy interpretation of “Another Life”, they recruited dark pop Estonian artist Kerli to contribute an emotionally charged vocal. Over a bed of orchestral strings and sparse piano, frontman Chris Motionless locks into a haunting and hypnotic duet with her. The official music video o...

IRON MAIDEN Pays Tribute To Longtime Producer MARTIN BIRCH: ‘He Was Just Absolutely Brilliant’

British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN have paid tribute to Martin Birch, who died on Sunday, August 9. He was 71. The British music producer, whose nickname was Headmaster, was perhaps best known for his 11-year stint with MAIDEN, serving as the producer and engineer of such classic albums as “Killers”, “The Number Of The Beast”, “Piece Of Mind” and “Somewhere In Time”. Earlier today, MAIDEN bassist and founder Steve Harris said about Birch: “He was just absolutely brilliant. He wasn’t just a producer, he was a hands-on engineer too, so he knew how to get a great sound. He was also fantastic at motivating people; he just had a knack of getting the best out of you. He was also a really nice man, great fun with a terrific sense of...

Diddy, Ty Dolla $ign, Timbaland and More Urge Biden to Pick Black Woman as VP

Diddy, Timbaland, Ty Dolla $ign and over 100 other prominent Black male figures are urging Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden to select a Black woman as his vice president. In an open-letter published in the Atlanta Daily World — and after more than 700 Black women signed a similar letter — the artists, moguls, and entertainers wrote, “It disgusts us that Black women are not just being vetted in this VP process but unfairly criticized and scrutinized.” They added that “failing to select a Black woman in 2020″ could cost him the election. “As someone who has said throughout the campaign that VP Joe Biden needs to choose a Black woman VP, the urgency for that pick has gone from something that SHOULD happen to something that HAS to happen,” the letter read...

2 Chainz, Lil Wayne Drop Animated ‘Money Maker’ Video

For what may be the best stadium performance since SpongeBob and gang performed at the Bubble Bowl, 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne’s latest animated video for “Money Maker” sees the pair take over an entire football field with the big-band bop. The track — complete with a flood of horns and a commanding drum line — sees the two team up for yet another big-time Tity Boi and Weezy collab. The vibrant clip also sees the songs lyrics flash before the screen, so you couldn’t possibly miss 2 Chainz’ convincing demands to “shake ya money maker,” as the track takes samples from Southern University’s marching band Human Jukebox. It also features the band on the track cover, paying homage to HBCUs. The hit found its way on streaming services Friday after 2 Cha...
