Henri PFR Takes Livestreaming to New Heights with Epic Belgium Performance

Henri PFR has not only been climbing the metaphorical ladder of dance music, having garnered support by EDM titans Armin van Burren and Robin Schulz, but he has also now climbed an actual ladder to the top of one of Belgium’s most symbolic buildings for a one-of-a-kind DJ set.  The charismatic 24-year-old DJ and producer recently signed to Spinnin’ Records and celebrated the milestone with a performance atop the Atomium, a towering Brussels landmark. The Belgian artist’s 60-minute set, which placed him a colossal 335 feet off the ground, was both thrilling and unnerving to watch. Cole-Man Drops Melodic House Single “Don’t Be Scared”

San Diego-based dance music producer Cole-Man has unveiled his new single “Don’t Be Scared,” a four-on-the-floor progressive jam that moonlights as a melodic journey through the many sub-genres of future house. Kicking things off with minimalistic pads and fluttering arpeggios, Cole-Man introduces a rhythmic kick and snare pattern before filtering in spacey vocal chops. Those samples all coalesce into a gritty build, which culminates in a melodic house drop that employs the rave-ready leads of early trance music. All-in-all, the single is a smooth house bop that yearns for the nightclubs of pre-pandemic yesteryear. Cole-Man’s “Don’t Be Scared” dropped on July 20th, 2020 via an independent release. You can listen to the track in full below. FOLLOW C...

Indie-Electronic Band Glass Animals Request 3D Head Scans from Fans for New Music Video

Glass Animals are taking user-generated content to the next level. The renowned English indie-electronic band took to Instagram yesterday, July 21st, to ask their fans to send 3D head scans for a new video they are producing. “YO. we need 3d scans of your heads for a video we’re making,” they wrote, adding that they want to “mess around” and “create something” with the content. The post itself features drummer Joe Seaward in a tutorial designed to show fans how they can submit their 3D head scans. Those who want to generate and send their scans must do so via Trnio, a mobile app that allows users to scan objects in the real world and create immersive 3D models using their iPhone camera. Fans can simply follow Seaward’s lead...

Spotify Enters the Video Space with “Vodcasts”

Spotify is slowly but surely is encroaching on YouTube territory with the launch of video podcasts, or “vodcasts.” The objective behind the rollout of the new feature is to provide a more engaging experience between fans and their favorite podcasters. It should come as no surprise that visual aspects provide an enhanced sense of connection that audio sometimes cannot. Being able to see the hosts’ mannerisms and their environment opens up the opportunity to draw in a new demographic of fans who may have previously stayed away from the audio medium. Before the launch of “vodcasts,” most hosts would upload their audio to Spotify, but then migrate to YouTube to provide their listeners with the video component from that episode. Spotify is now angling to be a one-s...

Limbo – GAEREA

RATING: 8.5/10 If you can cast your mind back as far as 2018 (and you are forgiven if you’re currently struggling to remember what you had for breakfast), GAEREA released one of the very finest black metal albums of that year, the subtly eccentric “Unsettling Whispers”; released through remarkably consistent Mumbai imprint Transcending Obscurity. If you’ve heard that record, the fact that the Portuguese were swiftly snapped up by Season Of Mist will make perfect sense, because despite being recognizable as a black metal band of some description, GAEREA conjured a huge amount of their own, unique sense of weirdness and disquiet. Two years on, “Limbo” feels even further away from any standard notions of a left-hand path, with songs that ebb and flow with t...

MICHAEL SWEET Defends CHRIS JERICHO Over Lip-Syncing Allegations: He ‘Doesn’t Have Anything To Prove As A Singer’

STRYPER‘s Michael Sweet has come to Chris Jericho‘s defense after Sebastian Bach accused FOZZY‘s lead singer of using pre-recorded vocal tracks during live performances. Last Thursday (July 16), Jericho challenged Bach to a “singoff” with “no effects, no tuning, no bullshit” in response to Sebastian‘s allegation that Chris “mimes to a tape” during FOZZY‘s live shows. “Bas is a great singer…but I’m better,” Chris wrote on Twitter.” The wrestler-turned-singer added: “I’ve never mimed anything ever! I will fucking sing in your face anytime, anyplace dude. I’ve been a fan & a defender of u since day one…but don’t u ever question my rock abilities!” Bach fired ...

Senators Introduce “Save Our Stages” Legislation to Help Music Venues During Pandemic

There may be hope for music venues struggling to get by during the coronavirus pandemic after all. Earlier today, Senators John Cornyn of Texas and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota introduced a new piece of legislation called the “Save Our Stages Act”. It’s a relief bill that aims to provide financial support to music and entertainment venues across the country, particularly those that are in danger of shutting down permanently, reports Rolling Stone. According to a press release, the “Save Our Stages Act” will offer six months of financial support to “keep venues afloat, pay employees, and preserve a critical economic sector for communities across America.” The legislation is geared towards operators, promoters, and talent reps at primarily small, independent venues. The specific grant amounts ...

Edgar Wright to Direct Hollywood Ghost Story Stage 13

Edgar Wright is staying spooky. As Deadline reports, the Baby Driver filmmaker has added another project to his plate. It’s called Stage 13, a ghost story from Amblin Partners that reads like a ghoulish comedy in the vein of, say, Warm Bodies. Written by Saturday Night Live alum Simon Rich, who based the screenplay on his own short story-of-the-same-name, Stage 13 follows a silent film-era actress who has haunted the titular soundstage for decades. Her afterlife changes when she meets a struggling director, and the two find a way to work together. It’s easy to see why this project would tickle Wright’s funny bone. The story digs right into his roots, back when he was still cutting his teeth on Spaced and Shaun of the Dead. So, this should be quite a delight, all things considered. Editors&...
