Juice WRLD Is Just the Ninth Artist to Top the Billboard 200 Both When Alive & Posthumously

As previously reported, Juice WRLD’s Legends Never Die enters the Billboard 200 at No. 1 this week. It’s his second No. 1 album. He landed his first, Death Race for Love, in March 2019—nine months before he died of a seizure. This makes Juice WRLD just the ninth artist in the 64-year history of the Billboard 200 to top the chart both while they were alive and after their death. Here’s a complete list of the artists who have achieved this feat: John Lennon: The ex-Beatle had two No. 1 solo albums before his death (Imagine in 1971 and Walls and Bridges in 1974) and one since (Double Fantasy, a collab with wife Yoko Ono,  in 1980). Lennon was shot to death on Dec. 8, 1980. He was 40. 2Pac: The rapper had two No. 1 albums before his death (Me Against the World in 1995 and All Eyez on Me i...

Everything We Know About the Fight Involving Megan Thee Stallion & Tory Lanez (So Far)

An argument involving Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion last weekend resulted in the first rapper behind bars after police arrested him for finding a gun in his car and the latter in the hospital after reports said Lanez allegedly shot her. Earlier on Saturday night (July 11), Megan documented hanging poolside with Lanez and Kylie Jenner on her Instagram Live. Police later arrested Lanez for a felony count of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle last Sunday (July 12) when officers found the weapon in his SUV after receiving a disturbance call outside a Hollywood Hills residence around 4 a.m. According to TMZ‘s initial report, an argument ensued and someone fired shots in the air before taking off in the vehicle, where police later found the “Hot Girl” ...

Alice Ivy Taps Extraordinary Lineup on Globe-Trotting New Album ‘Don’t Sleep’

With the benefit of hindsight, Alice Ivy was in wonderland when she cut Don’t Sleep. The new LP captures a glorious time not so long ago, filled with mates and late nights in faraway places. That was, before the pandemic ruined everything. Speaking with Billboard from her home in Melbourne, which has just entered a second lockdown, Don’t Sleep is the followup to 2018’s critically-lauded I’m Dreaming. Spanning 13 tracks, Don’t Sleep was written across a dizzying stretch of timezones, and features a diverse lineup with numerous female, non-binary, LGBTQI+, and BIPOC artists and voices. “I’m a very collaborative person,” she explains. “I would have struggled to get a lot of things over the line (stuck) in a room by myself.” [embedded content] In the mixing p...

Kanye West Rages On Twitter

The Kanye West show is in full swing (and full view). A day after his unusual debut political rally in South Carolina in which he appeared wearing a military style jacket with “2020” shaved into the back of his head, indulged in an hour-long train-of-thought session and at one stage, broke down in tears, Kanye is turning his attention to social media. Late Monday, West appeared to be having a very public meltdown on Twitter. It appeared to kick off with a single post, without comment, of Michael Jackson’s music video to “Black or White.” From that point forward, Kanye fired away. With family members among the targets, including Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner. “I put my life on my God that Norths mom would never photograph her doing playboy and that’s on ...

Kanye’s 8 Wildest Statements During His SC “Presidential” Rally

Source: George Pimentel / Getty Kanye West‘s presidential run is only a few seconds old (relatively) and already it seems to be dead on arrival. Yesterday (July 19) he inexplicably stated that the iconic Harriet Tubman never freed any slaves, and that may not have been the wildest moment. “Well, Harriet Tubman never freed the slaves,” Kanye “matter of factly” said. “She just had the slaves go work for other white people.” Again, right back to the whole “slavery was a choice” f*ckery. With a bulletproof vest on his torso and “2020” etched on his dome piece where a fade should’ve been, Kanye continued to leave the South Carolina crowd speechless as he delved into the weirdest and most asinine campaign rally since, well, Donald Trump’s a few weeks ago. After threatening to walk away from both...

Man Dressed As FedEx Driver Murders Son of Federal Judge, Critically Injures Her Husband

Source: TIMOTHY A. CLARY / Getty Yesterday (July 19) a man posing as a FedEx delivery man shot and killed the son of a federal judge and critically wounded her husband at their North Brunswick, NJ home. According to The New York Times, the murder occurred in broad daylight when the suspect showed up on the doorstep of U.S. District Court Judge Esther Salas dressed in FedEx attire. After the door was opened the gunman proceeded to open fire on her 20-year-old son, Daniel Anderl and her husband, Mark Anderl. Her son was killed by the attack while her husband, a criminal defense attorney and former assistant Essex County prosecutor, underwent surgery and is in critical but stable condition. Senator Robert Menendez, Democrat of New Jersey, expressed his sorrow in a statement Sunday night. “I k...

Back in May 2020, we reported that organizers of the Kansas City electronic music festival Dancefestopia had announced the news that state and county officials gave them permission to move forward with the event’s 2020 edition.  After being given the green-light, representatives acknowledged that “the situation could change.” Due to the unrelenting impact of COVID-19, they have officially announced Dancefestopia’s postponement to September 9th to 12th, 2021. The 2020 edition of Dancefestopia was set to feature many major dance music artists, including headliners GRiZ, Zeds Dead, and REZZ, along with Borgore, 12th Planet, Subtronics, Wuki, G Jones, and TroyBoi, among many others. However, a number of artists disassociated themselves from the brand...

REZZ Teases Hypnotic New Song via Instagram

REZZ, the bass music wunderkind and recent recipient of a shiny Juno Award, took to Instagram today to share a preview of an unreleased track, which immediately sent her fanbase into a frenzy. The preview arrives after a recent tweet in which REZZ wrote that she was working on music that made her “very happy at the moment.” She decided to post a lengthy preview of the ID, which churns along to a typically hypnotic rhythm featuring the alluring vocal refrain of “tag, you’re it.” The series of videos ends with the song’s drop, a menacing, bass-fueled masterstroke that sees her returning to her midtempo roots following the alt-rock and electro hybrid “Someone Else” with Grabbitz. REZZ was mum on the details, however, refraining from po...

Dehd: Flower of Devotion

One night last summer, at a 19th-century opera house, Dehd were playing in the middle of the room. Headlining a label showcase configured for 360-degree views, the bleeding-hearted indie-rock trio followed their steelier, more poker-faced peers Patio and Deeper. As the latter finished their set, all three bands convened for a cover of The Cure’s “Boys Don’t Cry,” on which Dehd guitarist Jason Balla and bassist Emily Kempf took the mics with their typical on-stage abandon. That night—eye-to-eye with their listeners, hiding no side of themselves, and taking cues from Robert Smith by bending the rigid edges of post-punk with the brightness and zeal of pop—Dehd were exactly in their element. This direct connection carries through Flower of Devotion, the band’s biggest-sounding album yet. Rathe...
