YOASOBI is a breakout J-pop act whose debut single, “Yoru ni kakeru,” has been taking various Japanese music rankings by storm. The male-female duo formed for a project by the online creative writing site monogatary.com, and its unique concept is to produce music inspired by stories submitted to the site. Musician and prolific songwriter LP has announced her first global livestream event scheduled for Aug. 1. The 2020 Virtual World Tour will broadcast live from The Beehive studios in the Los Angeles and is expected to be the artist’s only full-production concert in 2020. “I was expecting to tour throughout 2020 around the world, but unfortunately we had to postpone that to 2021. Spotify Launches New Subscription Plan For Couples in U.S., 54 More Markets
Spotify has unveiled a new, cheaper premium subscription option for couples, called Premium Duo, that will be rolled out in the United States and 54 other markets today (July 1). The single plan will allow two people living at the same address to have individual premium accounts, which are also entwined through playlists like its Duo Mix of favorites from each party, for just $12.99 a month. Spotify began testing the new tier last March, piloting Premium Duo in Columbia, Chile, Denmark, Ireland and Poland. Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda Announces New Album Created with Fans on Twitch
Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park has announced a new solo album, which he crafted on Twitch along with input from his fans. The new LP, called Dropped Frames, Vol. 1, will arrive on July 10th through his own Kenji Kobayashi Productions label. The album owes its creation to Shinoda’s daily Twitch livestreams, in which he made music four days per week. Instead of making an album on his own, Shinoda reached out to fans on his Twitch channel to get their feedback. “Dropped Frames is just as much about the live channel as it is about the ‘album,’” Shinoda said in a statement. “The collection of songs is a highlight reel of the tracks I make on the channel, but a big part of the experience is the stream itself.
