MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn has paid tribute to the band’s original drummer, Tony Costanza, who died on Tuesday (August 4). He was 52 years old. Costanza was the singer of the Las Vegas metal band PAPSMEAR before relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area and joining MACHINE HEAD in 1992. He sat behind the kit for MACHINE HEAD‘s first three shows — a punk rock house party on Woolsey Street in Oakland on August 15, 1992; at The Huntridge Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 29, 1992; and at Los Angeles Metalfest at Gazarri’s in Hollywood, California on October 4, 1992. He left MACHINE HEAD in October 1992 and was replaced by Chris Kontos, who made his live debut with the group the following month. Flynn said that “a big chunk” of the band’s classic d...
Trent Reznor has collaborated with avant-garde electronic artist Tobacco on a new song called “Babysitter”. The track will appear on Tobacco‘s upcoming album, “Hot Wet & Sassy”, which will be released on October 30 via Ghostly International. “I’ve always been an album guy and my albums are my zone, so Trent being on this one is one of the more meaningful things to me,” Tobacco, a.k.a. Tom Fec, told Rolling Stone. “Now he’s melted into it. “‘Babysitter’ is like one of those experiments I need to do every once in a while, to see how far I can push it within the constructs of writing a song, without just making noise,” he continued. “[It’s] edging. Probably not that different from how Taylor Sw...

Wayne Connolly, the celebrated Australian producer, engineer and artist who has collected eight ARIA Awards — and counting — for his work, has launched his first label, Scenic Drive. Based in Sydney, Connolly’s latest venture begins life with its debut signing The Nagging Doubts, whose breezy first single “Shot In The Dark” is due out Aug. 20, supported by a gig that night at The Vanguard in Newtown. They’re an “impressively self-sufficient band who are really good at home recording and they have stockpiled dozens of ideas and demos that need finishing,” Connolly tells Billboard. Scenic Drive should be a breath of fresh air, hitting fifth gear at a time when creatives are feeling stifled by the health crisis and the troubling second wave currently pummeling the state of Victori...

Source: Justin Sullivan / Getty The town of Luray, Va. is best known for its caverns and as the headquarters of the sprawling Shenandoah National Park. However, the mayor of the small town is being asked to step down in the midst of a racist post comparing Joe Biden’s potential vice president pick to Aunt Jemima. As reported by WTOP, a Washington area station, Mayor Barry Presgraves took to Facebook to make the racist job, writing, “Joe Biden has just announced Aunt Jemima as his VP pick.” Presgraves, who has served as mayor of the predominately-white town of just under 5,000, has seemingly deleted the post after the chatter around wording began to gain traction online. It has been long presumed that Biden, the former vice president, will select a woman as his running mat...
