Big Boi Releases New Single With Sleepy Brown, Says Big Sleepover Is ‘Coming Soon’

Roll out the red carpet for Atlanta hip-hop royalty. Big Boi is back, releasing his a single “Can’t Sleep” that features none other than the Dungeon Family’s own Sleepy Brown. The funky track feels like a wound-down callback to Outkast’s 2003 hit “The Way You Move,” which Brown also did his thing on, with Big Boi’s flow sounding just as effortless as it did all those years back. And after teasing the pair’s joint venture last year, titled The Big Sleepover, he’s now promising to finally deliver. Along with sharing the new single on Twitter, Big Boi writes that the album is coming soon, with the ever-so-promising hashtag “TheBigSleepover.” “It’s produced by Organized Noize, and it’s me and Sleepy Brown all the way down, man, and we’re gonna drop that shit in a couple months and keep it movi...

Listen to a Demo of Tom Petty’s ‘You Don’t Know How It Feels’

Even before Tom Petty died in 2017, there were talks that his beloved 1994 album Wildflowers (which was produced by Rick Rubin) would be getting a special edition that would include a number of rarities and songs that didn’t make the cut. Tonight, the first signs of that project coming to fruition are here. On SiriusXM’s Tom Petty Radio, an eight-track demo version of “You Don’t Know How It Feels” was played by Petty’s daughter Adria. “The family and the band are in a joyful process of discovering the Wildflowers sessions and demos and wanted to share a tiny bit of that with the fans today,” she said per Stereogum. It’s been a busy week for the Petty family. On Saturday night, they issued a strongly worded statement to the Trump campaign to stop using “I Won’t Back...

Sevendust Share Cover of Soundgarden’s ‘The Day I Tried to Live’

Sevendust has released their first music since 2018’s All I See Is War and it’s a cover of Soundgarden’s “The Day I Tried to Live.” The reason for its release? The Atlanta-based rockers were inspired by its message and the track they say, has the same meaning now as it did when originally released. “Soundgarden is such an important band to all of us in Sevendust and this love for them goes all the way back to when we were starting,” singer Lajon Witherspoon in a statement of the 1994 song. “We discussed trying to do one of their songs and our producer Elvis [Baskette] suggested ‘The Day I Tried To Live.’ When I first heard it, I thought the lyrics were timeless. The lyrics are about trying to experience new things and change the way you live, and we see examples of that every day...

U.K. Competition Regulator Launches ‘In-depth’ Investigation Into Viagogo StubHub Merger

Viagogo’s $4 billion acquisition of StubHub faces further scrutiny after the U.K.’s competition watchdog opened an “in-depth investigation” into the merger. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) announced on Thursday (June 25) that Viagogo has failed to address its concerns that the merger could result in a substantial lessening of competition, leading to music fans paying more for tickets. As a result, the regulator has launched a ‘Phase 2’ inquiry into the deal before deciding what, if any action, should be taken. Phase 2 investigations by the CMA are conducted by an independent panel and can last up to 24 weeks (extended by up to eight weeks in special circumstances). If the CMA rules that the merger of Viagogo and StubHub does substantially restrict competition in the U.K.’...

Two days later, TaP Music Publishing announced that they are co-funding the legal action. Heard and Owens are also suing the Trax Records president Rachael Cain, known professionally as “Screamin’ Rachael.” They accuse Trax of “building its catalogue by taking advantage of unsophisticated b...

Watch the White Stripes’ First TV Appearance

Last week, the White Stripes shared vintage footage from a show in Montana as part of the rollout for the 20th anniversary of De Stijl. In the latest clip, the band went back to 2000, but in a different way. As part of the celebration, the band unearthed a gem of a performance from Backstage Pass, a program on Detroit public access TV. The May 28, 2000 performance also happened to the band’s first on TV. On it, they performed “Apple Blossom” & “Death Letter” weeks ahead of De Stijl’s release. The host incredulously says that “the CD” “was recorded in Jack’s living room.” Third Man Records is putting out a big vault package to honor De Stijl, including a hardcover case, an archival booklet filled with previously unseen photos, flyers and more, a white ...

HHW Gaming Review: ‘Skelattack’ A Fun, Charming But Deceptively Challenging Indie Adventure

Source: Konami / Ukuza Inc. When it comes to video games every now and then, you come across a hidden gem. Skelattack is one of those games. Konami has been looking for a hit since Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain but failed to follow up that success dropping Metal Gear Survive and Contra: Rogue Corps, which were panned by critics and gamers. Rightfully so. Instead of one of its big-name titles delivering the goods, Konami has got itself a win with an indie title from Ukuza Inc. The brainchild of David Stanley, Skelattack, is a unique, beautifully designed game that features lovable characters, well thought out levels complimented with a charming story. In the game, you take control of the hero Skully on the eve of his remembrance day. On this special occasion, the undead citizens of t...
