Source: @6ix9ine / Instagram For a trolling and snitching savant, Tekashi 6ix9ine manages to avoid repercussions. The Brooklyn rapper’s Instagram will be allowed to stay up despite concerns it may have violated the platform’s sex offender policies. In case you missed it, before Tekashi started diming out members of the Nine Trey Bloods, he was caught up in a case that involved the exploitation of a minor at a video shoot. Tekashi pleaded guilty to the use of a child in a sexual performance charges and he was sentenced to four years probation in 2018. However, according to Facebook, this doesn’t qualify him as a sex offender, technically, due to his age at the time. Ownership Dispute Leaves Fans Confused About Vietnam’s Epizode Festival

Vietnamese concertgoers are stuck in the middle of an ownership dispute surrounding Epizode Festival and the recently announced “Epizode: Epilogue“ event. For those unfamiliar with the brand, Epizode Festival is a Vietnamese event that started back in 2016. Former performers include Carl Cox, Nina Kraviz, Dubfire, and Seth Troxler, among many others. Recently, a new event titled “Epizode: Epilogue” was announced by a different organization. After the announcement, the current owners of Epizode Festival took to its social media channels to release a statement claiming that “Epizode: Epilogue” is a fraud and is not related to their flagship festival. However, an “Epizode: Epilogue” spokesperson recently responded to the allegations an...

Zeds Dead and Subtronics Release Stunning Dubstep Remix of Atmosphere’s “GodLovesUgly”

Yesterday, Zeds Dead and Subtronics teased fans by announcing that their highly anticipated remix of Atmosphere‘s “GodLovesUgly” was finally arriving, sharing the song’s artwork in the process. Those fans can now let out a sigh of relief, as the track was officially released this morning. A joint release between Zeds Dead’s Deadbeats banner and Minneapolis imprint Rhymesayers, which was co-founded by Atmosphere back in 1995, the remix sees the two bass acts breathe new life into “GodLovesUgly” with a signature dubstep rendition.  A nod to the filthy Zeds Dead sound of yesteryear, the remix does a brilliant job of keeping Atmosphere’s dusty, classic piano strikes intact while opting for more of an instrumental rework. The fluid ...

DJ Snake Officially Releases Long Sought After Trap ID, “Trust Nobody”

DJ Snake has finally released one of his most craved IDs, the hybrid trap bomb “Trust Nobody.” The single finds the Parisian powerhouse eschewing his radio-friendly moombah-pop style for his heavy-hitting sound of yesteryear. Snake had been teasing the tune at select live shows, perhaps most notably during a performance in his hometown at Paris La Défense Arena, where he unveiled it to a staggering 40,000 guests amid a massive “wall of death” in the crowd. Ever since that show, which was the largest single-day electronic dance music event in Europe, his fans had been clamoring for the ID. “Trust Nobody” features some of the most thunderous sound design Snake has produced in quite some time, with menacing vocal refrains and screeching bass patch...

Here Is a Website with Over 2000 Black Artists and Labels to Support on Bandcamp

Following Bandcamp‘s monumental Juneteenth fundraiser, where the music platform donated 100% of its share of sales to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, a group of anonymous volunteers have developed a website with over 2000 Black artists and labels to support. The website, called blackbandcamp.info, was developed as an easy way to sort and filter an expansive spreadsheet that was created earlier in the month of June, which featured over 1000 Black artists and labels and was shared prevalently throughout the industry. According to the site, the goal of the sheet is to “support Black artists, producers and labels through their Bandcamp links.” In addition to search filters by name, location, and genre, the platform enables users to use a “random s...

Dent May Announces New Album Late Checkout, Shares “I Could Use A Miracle”: Stream

Los Angeles songwriter Dent May has announced his fifth album, Late Checkout. The project arrives August 21st via Carpark Records, and May is previewing it today with a wonderful new pop-rock song called “I Could Use A Miracle”. Since emerging in the late 2000s as a ukulele-toting psych-pop artist and then pivoting to disco, May has evolved into a much more polished and grandiose songwriter. Fans witnessed flashes of this transformation on 2017’s Across The Multiverse, but this forthcoming follow-up sees May really stepping up to own his new status as a power-pop multi-instrumentalist: not only is the new LP his first to be recorded outside of his home studio, but it’s also his introduction to writing and arranging parts for string players, a horn section, and background vocalist...

Beyoncé Shares New A Cappella Version of “Black Parade”: Stream

In honor of Juneteenth last Friday, Beyoncé released a new solo song called “Black Parade”. Now, just some days later, Queen Bey is back with a special a cappella version of the track. Per Consequence of Sound writer Nina Corcoran, the original iteration of “Black Parade” was a “celebratory blend of pop, trap, hip-hop, and electronica-verging on Detroit techno” and featured horn and flute arrangements. Although most of the flashiness and extra adornments have been stripped, the global R&B star’s message of Black pride and Black beauty still rings true here — and perhaps even truer when delivered through Bey’s singular, captivating voice. “I hope we continue to share joy and celebrate each other, even in the midst of struggle. Please continue to remember our beauty, strength and power,”...

Boris Announce New Album NO, Share Blistering “Loveless”: Stream

Last year, Japanese experimental metal band Boris released a double album called LφVE & EVφL. Now, they’re prepping a follow-up project pointedly dubbed NO. The 11-song full-length is due out next month and is being teased with lead single “Loveless”. In a strongly-worded manifesto of sorts, Boris explained that NO is an amalgam of all of their influences and connections as DIY heavy musicians. It was a record that was informed by the current “closing” of international borders, and the pain, anguish, and anxiety we’re all feeling during this chaotic moment in world history. An excerpt from that statement reads, “We hope this latest album can be a mirror that gathers and reflects people’s negative energy at a different angle, one that is positive. That is the power and potenti...
