Kamasi Washington, Robert Glasper, Terrace Martin, and 9th Wonder are Dinner Party Neo-jazz virtuosos Kamasi Washington, Robert Glasper, and Terrace Martin have teamed up with hip-hop producer/rapper 9th Wonder to form a new supergroup called Dinner Party. The quartet will release their self-titled debut on July 10th, and you can stream the first single — “Freeze Tag” featuring Chicago singer Phoelix — below. Though Washington, Glasper, Martin, and 9th Wonder only began working on the album in late 2019, the supergroup’s origins date back nearly two decades. Twenty One Pilots Post Origin Story of ‘Never-Ending’ Video For ‘Level of Concern’

For all of you who are new here, Twenty One Pilots want to help. After fans almost immediately cracked the code to figure out how to upload their videos for the new “never-ending” visual for “Level of Concern,” the Ohio duo posted a nearly seven-minute clip on Wednesday (June 24) to explain the process to the rest of us. “Recently our dads were asking what the heck was going on with those codes,” Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun tweeted along with a link to the video explainer. According to the clip, it all started on June 10, when the pair uploaded a short video teaser that included a seemingly incomprehensible string of letters and numbers (LOC-061-220-2012P), which, when you deciphered it, merely referred to the title of the song, that days’ date and n...

Michael Bolton Singing Excerpts From John Bolton’s ‘The Room Where It Happened’ on ‘Late Show’? Sure, Why Not?

Call it the Battle of the Bolton. Or Maybe Bolton Squared. Either way, on Wednesday night (June 24), The Late Show invited crooner Michael Bolton on to sing excerpts from the new White House tell-all The Room Where It Happened by former National Security Advisor John Bolton and the results were… hilarious. But also terrifying. In a bit they called “Bolton Sings Bolton,” the legendarily coiffed singer emoted such pop classic lines as “Trump begged President Xi to buy soybeans/ To help him win re-election” over tasteful acoustic guitar. Among the other smash hits on the fake Audible collection are: “Trump formed a pattern of fundamentally unacceptable behavior/ That eroded the very legitimacy of the presidency.” And who could forget that summert...

Kelly Clarkson Crushed a Beautiful Version of This TLC Classic in Her Latest Kellyoke: Watch

In case you forgot, Kelly Clarkson is still slaying it in quarantine. The singer proved that lockdown hasn’t sapped her creative superpowers again on Wednesday when she performed a picture-perfect cover of TLC‘s 1999 hit “Unpretty” on her daytime talk show this week. With her bandmates joining in from ornate digital frames, Clarkson gave the tune a bouncy island vibe. The track about appreciating the beauty that’s inside of you instead of focusing on the external gained a renewed relevance at a time when many of us are realizing that the masks we used to put on every day when we went to work were just that: illusions. Clarkson’s thoughtful, poignant take on the tune brought that message home as she sang it with her face unadorned by makeup or the usual H...

Jeezy Claims Baby Mama Jealous of New Engagement, Harassing Him As Payback

Source: Astrid Stawiarz / Getty Looks like Jeezy’s baby mama drama just took a nasty turn as it went from unpaid child support payments to an alleged case of simple jealousy and harassment. According to Bossip the Thug Motivation 101 rapper responded to his ex-fiance accusations of failing to keep up with child supports and promises of a brand new car by stating that Mahlet “Mahi” Gebremedhin was jealous of his new engagement to The Talk show host, Jeannie Mae. Calling Mahlet’s court filing “a vindictive and malevolent response” to the news of his latest engagement to the talk show host, Jeezy says that the motion was filed as a “means of harassment.” In new court docs – filed last week and obtained by BOSSIP – Mahi said she wants Jeezy thrown in jail for violating their child support and ...

The two artists, who are unparalleled in their ability to blend funk and dubstep, have an ID in the works that is an absolute beast of a bass tune. Fabled Denver Nightclub Beta Shut Down for Violating Social Distancing Guidelines

Fabled Lower Downtown Denver venue Beta Nightclub has been shut down indefinitely following reports of repeated violations of the city’s Safer-At-Home order, which was instated due to the impact of COVID-19. The Denver Department of Public Health and Environment pulled the plug on the nightclub following an event on June 20th, 2020 in which the venue was reportedly packed with people, who did not wear face coverings and partied with no semblance of social distancing. Video obtained by local FOX affiliate KDVR-TV seems to corroborate those claims. According to the news station, DDPHE had already issued a citation to Beta on June 16th for violating the Safer-At-Home order by operating as a bar. Following the slap on the wrist, the City of Denver received e...

GLD and Grand Khai Join Forces for Future Bass Bop “I Loved You (Now I Have Trust Issues)”

After releasing a pair of thunderous bass tunes in recent weeks, “Judgement Day” and the GEO collab “Do It Like This,” electronic duo GLD have returned with a melodic number. Once again arriving on Flux Pavilion‘s Circus Records banner, the dubstep and trap twofer opted to swerve into the future bass alley, teaming up with gifted singer-songwriter Grand Khai for the poignant “I Loved You (Now I Have Trust Issues).” Eschewing their typical use of blistering bass elements and booming 808s, GLD produce bouncy basslines and distorted vocal chops for a bubbly future pop tune. “I Loved You (Now I Have Trust Issues)” isn’t the first time GLD have linked up with Khai, who featured on the duo’s summer 2019 single ...

Haim: Women in Music Pt. III

It’s well known that the only three people who take long walks through the streets of Los Angeles are Haim. The image of the trio striding or line-dancing their way around the city is indelibly linked to their music: cool, confident, full of momentum. The videos to accompany their third album, Women in Music Part III, nod to the strolls of the past and add in a few new twists. In “Now I’m in It,” directed again by Paul Thomas Anderson, bassist Este and guitarist Alana carry Danielle (lead vocals, production, guitar) on a stretcher; when Danielle is revived and joins her sisters for their signature walk, she casts a knowing glance straight to camera. In another video, they’re trailed by a gloomy saxophonist; in another, they stand rooted to the spot. These videos show the evolution of Haim,...
