For the third time in history, the UK’s Royal Mail is honoring a legendary band by issuing a set of stamps. After the Beatles in 2007 and Pink Floyd in 2016, Queen will now be seeing their faces in mailboxes in July. The 13-stamp set — featuring eight legendary album covers, a classic photo of the group, and four live shots of the group — releases on July 9 and is now available for preorder. “It’s hard to put into words what I feel when looking at these beautiful stamps,” Queen guitarist Brian May said in a release. “Since we four precocious boys started out on our quest 50 years ago, our lives have been devoted to making our impossible dream come true. Sometimes it’s strange to wake up and realize the position in which we are now held – we have become a national institution! And noth...
Michael Keaton is back in the Batcave — or will be in the near future. On Monday, The Hollywood Reporter shook comic book fans everywhere when they reported that the Oscar-nominated veteran will once again return to Wayne Manor for a series of films in the Warner Bros./DC Extended Universe. The report suggests that the studio is attempting to lock the actor into a multi-picture deal that would see his Batman serve as a mentor to younger heroes. More specifically, he could appear in Andy Muschietti’s much-delayed The Flash starring Ezra Miller and the long-gestating Batgirl movie. While that’s all well and good, it would be a total waste of Keaton’s commitment. Sure, audiences would be stoked to see his mug pop up in an alternate universe of The Flash, but they would be far more stoked...
Siblings Willie Nelson and Bobbie Nelson have teamed up to co-write a new memoir about “how family always finds the way” no matter the trials and tribulations. Titled Me and Sister Bobbie: True Tales of the Family Band, it’s due out later this summer through Random House. The 288-page book will document the Nelsons’ difficult childhood, tainted by abandonment, as well as their enduring bond, which has remained strong thanks to their shared love of music. Willie and Bobbie will take turns telling their story through alternating chapters, assisted by music biographer Davie Ritz. Willie previously enlisted Ritz’s talents his 2015 autobiography, It’s a Long Story: My Life. For Bobbie, this is her first-ever memoir. Following successful recording sessions for Willie albums The Troublemaker and&...
Some movie theaters across the US have begun the process of reopening, face masks required. However, as new titles, like Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, aren’t out until the end of July, cinemas are opting to screen old summer classics as a way to lure back potential moviegoers. It made for a big weekend for Steven Spielberg. The legendary director found himself with both the first and second highest-grossing movies of the weekend in the form of Jurassic Park and Jaws, notes The Hollywood Reporter. Spielberg’s 1993 Jurassic Park earned an estimated $517,642 from 230 locations. Following close behind was Jaws, Spielberg’s 1975 hit, which brought in $516,366 from 187 locations. A handful of Spielberg’s other movies also raked in a sizable amount this past weekend, including E.T. Th...
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will host the “Global Goal: Unite for Our Future” concert Saturday (June 27) to support the disproportionately affected communities of the COVID-19 pandemic. But which performer are you looking forward to rocking your world? Justin Bieber and Quavo will hit the virtual stage together for “Intentions,” which just reached No. 1 on the Billboard Pop Songs radio airplay chart (dated June 27). Although not performing together, Colombian superstars Shakira and J Balvin might reignite the Latin music power of the Super Bowl LIV halftime show performance with their sets. And if Chloe x Halle‘s performance is anything like the sisters’ recent at-home television stints from their backyard, then it’s b...
The number of women on the Recording Academy’s 40-member board of trustees jumped from 14 to 17 following the recent trustees elections, which included, for the first time in academy history, four “at large” trustee seats. In three of those four two-person contests, two women faced off, ensuring that a female would fill that seat. Trustees are primarily selected by the governors of each of the academy’s 12 chapters. This year, for the first time, voting members selected the winners in four “at large” trustee seats. In those elections, Chelsey Green defeated Maimouna Youssef; Natalia Ramirez bested Sarah Hudson; Carolyn Malachi outpolled Kelly Price; and, in the one all-male face-off, PJ Morton beat Camilo Landau. In addition to Green, Ramirez and Malachi, three other female trustees were n...
6ix9ine and Nicki Minaj‘s “Trollz” launched to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart this week, marking the first leader for 6ix9ine and the second for Minaj. The ecstatic rapper took to Instagram on Monday (June 22) to share his thoughts on the milestone, uploading a video popping champagne and celebrating. “#1 ON @billboard YOU CANT STOP ME. YOU CANT BLACKBALL ME. DIDNT I TELL YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Tekashi went on to call out Spotify, Apple and a few other music services for not pushing “Trollz,” but noted that they can’t “blackball” him because the song prevailed on the Billboard charts regardless. “YOU CAN SAY WHAT EVER IM NUMBER 1 AND YOU CANT TAKE THAT FROM ME I WENT UP A...
