While Fountains of Wayne’s future may be put on hold, the band’s former lead guitarist is going solo…kind of. Jody Porter is teaming up with his new backing band, the Berlin Waltz, for their latest single “Sunsick Moon” and new album, Waterways, out this fall. The LP, which Porter recorded in London, features his former Fountains of Wayne bandmate Brian Young on drums. The three-minute track showcases Porter’s distorted shredding abilities and lead vocals. In a statement, he detailed how the track evolved over time. “‘Sunsick Moon’ was birthed on the North Sea,” he said. “It was meant to be an instrumental, but then the lyrics started to flow.” This isn’t the only time Porter and Young have recently shared space on wax. Earlier this year, after Fountains of Wayne’s ...

Rising Italian producer Tava is making waves this summer with an updated take on Exchopoptrue‘s “Discoteca,” originally released in 2001. Already making its rounds on Italian airwaves, including in a radio stream from preeminent producer Hardwell, “Discoteca” is infectiously melodic and upbeat, with an electro house drop full of weaving synths and chopped up vocals. With its increased BPM and modernized sonics, it’s primed to circulate the dance floors once clubs are able to reopen from lockdown. With “Discoteca,” Tava continues to firmly e...

In a new interview with the “TODDCast Podcast”, MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson was asked how good his songwriting ideas have to be in order to be to be considered for inclusion on one of the band’s albums. He responded: “I think certainly you can hear, and you see it in the writing credits, the collaborative eras, especially ‘Countdown To Extinction’, ‘Youthanasia’ and ‘Cryptic Writings’. And that’s because that lineup was together for a few records, and we started to figure out how to work together. And that’s a big part of it — being able to work together as a group. “Everybody has strengths, everybody has weaknesses, and I think if you sort of tap everybody’s strengths, you hear the best of the best, an...
