Roger Waters has uploaded another socially-distant performance of a Pink Floyd classic. The time around, Waters and his touring band connect virtually to play “Two Suns in the Sunset”, the closing song off Pink Floyd’s 1983 album, The Final Cut. Watch below. The performance is prefaced by a screen of text warning viewers that “We’re at one hundred seconds to midnight on the doomsday clock. This is the the closest the Human Race has ever been to nuclear catastrophe.” In a corresponding video caption, Waters spoke about the dangers of nuclear weapons: “That we allow [them] to exist in a world controlled by deranged sociopaths is, in itself, a deranged arrangement. We are many they are few. We could just say no, to the whole MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) insanity. It makes zero...
On Saturday night, as Donald Trump tried and failed to boost his own ego in Oklahoma, several of music’s biggest names got together virtually to support a cultural institution. New Orleans’ Preservation Hall Jazz Band held their ‘Round Midnight Preserves livestream benefit to raise funds for the Preservation Hall Foundation. The event was highlighted by a “headlining” performance of “When the Saints Go Marching In” featuring many of the night’s participants led by Paul McCartney. Macca actually played trumpet during the song, leaving much of the singing to the likes of Dave Grohl, Irma Thomas, Dave Matthews, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James, and Nathaniel Rateliff and members of The Night Sweats. A video of that all-hands-on-deck rendition can be seen below. The rest of ‘Round Midnight P...
Dave Grohl and Paul McCartney teamed up as part of a sorta-Nirvana reunion in 2012, recording the rowdy hard-rock track “Cut Me Some Slack.” Now the duo have joined forces once more, and the results are a bit more…low-key. The Foo Fighter and former Beatle participated in a ramshackle version of “When the Saints Go Marching In” as part of the ‘Round Midnight Preserves virtual livestream benefit, hosted Saturday by New Orleans’ Preservation Hall Jazz Band. The instrumentation was a bit unexpected: Grohl handled tambourine, and McCartney played trumpet. The song also featured contributions from Elvis Costello, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James, Dave Matthews, Irma Thomas and Nathaniel Ratleliff, among others. A video of that performance is available below. The livestream, which raised ...

The memories are still sweet. Chris Cornell‘s daughter Toni Cornell took over Billboard‘s Instagram Stories on Father’s Day (June 21) to remember the late Soundgarden frontman with a tour of his home studio in Miami. “I’m so grateful that I was lucky enough to have a dad who was also my best friend,” she said. “Music was our life, so it really created a special bond between the two of us, even when we weren’t on the road. Here in this studio, he taught me how to play the guitar, how to record songs.” The 15-year-old recalled how she used to sit next to the iconic rocker as he wrote music, scribbling her own tunes. She added, “Being here in this room, I feel like I’m around him, and really makes this my happy place.” Th...
Source: @realdlhughley / Instagram Black Twitter called it. After a scary moment that saw him faint while performing on stage, comedian D.L. Hughley revealed that he has tested positive for COVID-19. On Friday night (June 19), Hughley was performing in Nashville. However, during his set at Zanies Comedy Night Club while telling a joke he seemingly passed out. Someone offstage was able to catch him before he totally fell out and he was taken off stage. Fortunately, he responded to treatment and while in the hospital he was diagnosed with exhaustion and dehydration. According to Hughley, he was administered a number of tests, and surprisingly (but not so surprisingly to some Twitter conspiracy theorists) he tested positive for the coronavirus. Speaking just after his release from St. Thomas ...
