Luke Bryan pulled on heartstrings with a performance of “Build Me a Daddy” just in time for Father’s Day weekend. The country star offered a live take of the new song with a poignant, socially distanced performance for The Tonight Show Thursday night (June 18). “A boy walks past a window of a glowing ‘open’ sign/ Full of wooden toys and trucks and painted trains/ Rings a bell up on the counter, hands a picture to the man/ Of a kid beside a soldier smilin’ away/ Said, ‘Sir, I’ve heard you can build anything’/ ‘Could you build me a daddy?'” Bryan asks in the first verse of the emotional ballad, from the perspective of a child who’s lost his father. “Strong as Superman/ Make him ten feet tall with a south...
P!nk addressed her family’s struggle with coronavirus once more in a candid live chat about mental health with Vanessa Inn. The pop star — who previously said she and her 3-year-old son, Jameson, had tested positive and recovered from COVID-19 — welcomed Inn, who she said has been “guiding me for 20 years,” to an Instagram Live session Friday (June 19). “The idea came to me sort of when quarantine started, when this whole COVID-19 thing started, because mental health is always on my radar,” P!nk explained while waiting for Inn to join in. “You can’t run from yourself in quarantine,” she pointed out. “You can’t run from your family.” In their discussion, P!nk recalled how she and her son “got really sic...
The world may be in shambles right now, but as Tom Morello expressed after watching footage from a recent Nigerian wedding, “There’s hope!!” On Friday, a video went viral on Twitter that features a swarm of wedding guests headbanging and singing along to System of a Down’s seminal tune, “Toxicity,” and it’s pure joy. Due to the pandemic, it was a smaller than usual group at Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills, but excitement still crackled through the air as spectators and bidders, held their breath, bit their lips and sat on the edges of their seats as Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain’s famed 1959 Martin D-18E acoustic guitar (and its vintage hardshell case affixed with baggage claim tags and stickers), the featured highlight of the two-day auction and prominently displayed on stage all afternoon, sold for an incredible $6.01 million to Peter Freedman from Rode Microphones who was in attendance. The $6.01 million is a new world record for a guitar at an auction. The previous record-holder was a Stratocaster owned by Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour that fetched $3.95 million. The city of San Antonio is the latest to join the trend after a team of promoters announced their “EDM Drive-In” on June 26th and 27th, a vehicle-based festival at Freeman Coliseum. Taking to Instagram to share the news, organizers announced that Tritonal, Cosmic Gate, Hook N Sling, Kristina Sky, and Henry Fong will be performing, among others. The show does, of course, come with safety guidelines. While revelers will be allowed to enjoy the sh...
After three years of meticulous renovations, the flagship STMPD RCRDS studio of international dance music superstar Martin Garrix is finally complete. Following its acquisition in 2017, Garrix and his team flung into an intricate renovation project for the recording studios, which have been transformed into a breathatking, cutting-edge complex. Three brand new studios were introduced into the building in addition to the refurbishment of its five existing studios, and each was given its own style in terms of appearance and equipment. Perhaps most stunning is the Mix Stage, a studio dedicated to cinema mixing with an immersive Dolby Atmos Premier Studio system, which represents “Dolby’s highest certification of a dubbing stage’s technical excellence.R...
