Coachella Officially Abandons 2020 Event, Announces Rescheduled 2021 Dates

After days of widespread speculation surrounding the official cancellation of Coachella‘s 2020 event in October, the fabled Indio musical and arts festival’s fate has been sealed. Coachella will no longer take place this year due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the festival’s representatives announced new dates for April 2021. Weekend One will now take place April 9th to 11th, 2021 and Weekend Two will be April 16th to 18th, 2021. According to Variety, the narrative film centers on Bogotá teenagers Vargas and Chuki, who head out to see an Iron Maiden show in Colombia. Goldenvoice, the production company behind Coachella, has confirmed the festival’s cancelation for 2020. Initially, organizers had postponed the two-weekend music festival from April to October 2020 with the hope that live music would be back up and running by the fall. However, on Wednesday, local health officials in Indio, California canceled both Coachella and its sister festival, Stagecoach, citing concerns that COVID-19 could worsen in the fall.
