Trump supporters may not be hearing “Y.M.C.A.” at his rallies anytime soon. Following a Friday Facebook post from vocalist Victor Willis, the Village People have just joined the ever-growing list of artists requesting the president doesn’t play their music at his rallies, which already included Rihanna, Aerosmith and Prince’s estate. Willis’ request came after protesters were cleared outside of the White House so President Trump could have his photo taken in front of a church last week. “If Trump orders the U.S. military to fire on his own citizens (on U.S. soil), Americans will rise up in such numbers outside of the White House that he might be forced out of office prior to the election. Don’t do it Mr. President,” Willis wrote. “And I ask that you no longer use any of my music at your ra...

Source: Timothy Norris / Getty Even during a global pandemic, civil unrest around the world, your sex tape still gonna hit the web. Cuban Doll is down in the dumps after her homemade boom boom flick (we will not be sharing) featuring herself and ex-boyfriend, rapper Tadoe magically appeared on the internet over the weekend. The Texas rapper took to Instagram Live and tearfully spoke about the leaked video. She claimed that Ari Fletcher — whom she has beef with — dropped the video on the web without her permission and that she is deeply saddened that her family had to see her getting cakes smashed to smithereens in the clip. “And that bitch Ari, okay, you so happy you got a video of me and Tadoe f**kin’ from last year on my birthday when I was drunk. I don’t give a f**k, it’s the fact that ...
Source: BET2020 / Getty Lil Wayne may have boarded the cancel express, but his latest apology tour is solidifying him staying there. On Friday (Jun 6) on Weezy’s TuneChi Radio show on Apple Music, the Young Money captain featured special guests, Killer Mike, Snoop Dogg, and Bun B alongside the mayor of D.C., Muriel Bowser, along with hoopers Chris Paul and Stephen Jackson to discuss the current state of our social climate and the importance of protesting. Killer Mike opened the show, speaking to Wayne about the power that artists have to amplify important messages and the decision to drop ‘RTJ4′ early. “We are amplifiers, bro. The same way Nike wouldn’t be Nike without Michael Jordan slamming the ball,” Killer Mike said. “But Nike also wouldn’t be Nike without my muthaf*cking man Spik...

Over the past week, as international demonstrations in support of Black lives and against racial injustice and violence have grown to unprecedented numbers, Justin Bieber has used his Instagram page to share his own support. He’s posted that “all lives do not matter until Black lives matter” and a guide to being an anti-racist ally, as well as how to honor Breonna Taylor on what would have been her 27th birthday on June 5. On Sunday (June 7), though, Bieber spoke out about his own relationship to Black culture, namely how he’s “benefitted” from it, and how he’s aiming to better use his platform now. “I am inspired by [B]lack culture,” he wrote. “I have benefitted off of [B]lack culture. My style, how I sing, dance, perform, and my...

As part of Bandcamp‘s “#BandcampFriday” initiative in which the music platform waives its share of sales to provide relief to creators during the COVID-19 pandemic, a group of anonymous volunteers has taken it upon themselves to compile an expansive list of Black artists and labels to support. The list, which features over 1,000 entries, was formulated and shared amid nationwide protests following the death of George Floyd at the hands of a police officer. The vast majority of the music industry took part in a sweeping blackout on Tuesday, June 2nd to align with the protests and many are now amplifying their efforts to support racial justice and equality, including Bandcamp and Spotify, among others.
