The world’s last Blockbuster store has already survived Netflix and the streaming wars, so what’s the worst pandemic in decades? As Vice reports, the Bend, Oregon franchise is still open even in the time of coronavirus, although it hasn’t been easy. Led by general manager Sandi Harding, the store became the last link in the global video rental chain about two years ago. It’s kept going this long through a mix of nostalgia, novelty, and what seems to be genuinely good leadership — but then, that’s true of many local institutions that have permanently closed during the COVID-19 crisis. The last Blockbuster is holding strong. It isn’t just relying on rentals — the store sells made-in-Oregon merch, such as a bumper sticker that reads “I SURVIVED ALONG WITH THE LAST BLOCKBUSTER”. Hard...
The Pitch: In 18th century Russia, a penniless Prussian noble named Catherine (executive producer Elle Fanning) is betrothed to Emperor Peter (Nicholas Hoult). Catherine, who makes up for what her family lacks in finance with the kind of sick optimism preserved for golden-haired, porcelain-perfect teenage girls in these types of fairy tales, travels across Europe and Asia with wide-eyed hopes of marital bliss, a progressive Russia, and maybe even some pull in court. Of course, as these things go, Catherine’s husband is loutish, childish, and more concerned with drinking himself into a stupor than just about anything else. Catherine is forced to grow up, fast. Their marriage quickly devolves into a battleground. A mere six months in and with all of her dreams shattered in pieces at her feet...

Source: Kevin Mazur / Getty Swizz Beatz continues to represent the culture with passion, dignity and respect. He is taking the new regime to task to make sure our architects feel the much-deserved respect. As spotted on Complex the Bronx native is staying busy aside from his popular Verzuz battle platform. In a recent interview with Joe Budden the “Good Times” producer revealed that he wants to start an initiative to repay Rap’s biggest and most influential pioneers for the indelible impact. “I want to raise a million dollars for each icon that started hip-hop…[DJ] Kool Herc on down” he said. “The fact we’re not paying taxes on who started hip hop shows we don’t f***ing really love Hip-Hop.” He continued to expand on the need to pay things backward in an effort to pay things forward. ...
Source: OnlyFans / Demon TIme The “Five Finger Knuckle Shuffle” crew has been treated well in these tough quarantine times with Instagram Live becoming a hot destination after dark for dancers, sex workers, and others looking to show off. Curating an experience known as Demon Time, Justin LaBoy, along with Diddy’s son Justin Dior Combs, has created a virtual strip club movement and now has partnered with OnlyFans for a larger venture. In a short clip featuring women twerking with vigor as Beyoncé’s verse from Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” remix plays in the background, the clever name drop of OnlyFans and the “Demon Time” phrase looks awfully prophetic at this point with OnlyFans announcing the new partnership. “We have officially partnered with Demon Time who have created the first ever ...
Source: change.org / other The mother of Ahmaud Arbery, still grieving the tragic loss of her son at the hands of a white father and son duo, has no intention of taking it easy on the men who murdered him. Wanda Cooper-Jones said that she wants the men who killed Arbery to suffer the same fate. Sitting down with TMZ Live earlier this week, Cooper-Jones presented her views that all involved in the killing of her son, including William “Roddie” Bryan, the man who filmed the fatal encounter, should face the highest charges possible under the law. When it was mentioned by the hosts of the program that Georgia does have a death penalty law on the books, Cooper-Jones did not mince her words. “Coming from my point of view, my son died, so they should die as well,” Cooper-Jones said without hesita...
