Music Against Animal Cruelty (MAAC), the charity dedicated to raising awareness and funds to aid in the conservation of wildlife via music, has partnered with Beatport to bring fans a virtual music marathon this Saturday, May 16th. “Wild Digital” will give music lovers the chance to party with some killer DJs while giving back to wildlife conservation. Eric Andre Announces First Standup Special, Legalize Everything, Coming to Netflix
It’s hard to believe, but nobody has ever offered Eric Andre a gobsmacking amount of money for a standup comedy special — until now. In a typically deranged Instagram post, the actor and comedian announced that his first special, Legalize Everything, will be coming to Netflix on June 23rd. The new comedy event takes its name from Andre’s 2019 “Legalize Everything” world tour. slowthai capped off this past weekend with “ENEMY”, a rowdy single referencing his controversial stage antics at the NME Awards in February. Now just three days later, the British rapper is back with “MAGIC”, his second banging track of the week. Recorded earlier this year, the new single was produced by Kenny Beats, known for his acclaimed joint albums with Denzel Curry (UNLOCKED) and Rico Nasty (Anger Management). Melissa Etheridge Son, Beckett Cypher, Dies at 21
Melissa Etheridge’s 21-year-old son, Beckett Cypher, has died. Both Beckett and his sister, Bailey, were born to Etheridge’s former partner, Julie Cypher, via artificial insemination. David Crosby was later revealed to be the biological father of both children in a 2000 Rolling Stone cover story. Etheridge announced the passing of Beckett on Wednesday afternoon via Twitter. Arkansas Governor Slaps Music Venue With Cease-and-Desist Ahead of First Concert
Last week, Arkansas venue TempleLive announced that Travis McCready would be playing a socially-distanced show in Fort Smith — the first show to take place since venues were essentially shut down in March. Now, after threatening to do so since the announcement of that show, Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson has issued a cease-and-desist order and warned that the state wouldn’t be afraid to “utilize local law enforcement.” According to Rolling Stone, the state’s state’s secretary of health, Nathaniel Smith, also told the venue that “Your failure to comply with this order and postpone your event to be in compliance with the health directives will result in a violation of the Arkansas public health code.” The state is scheduled to reopen on May 18. According to Deadline, their 2009 novella is in the early developmental stage to become a feature film for the forthcoming streaming network. Raising Dion co-executive producer Leigh Dana Jackson will write the screenplay, which will be produced by David S. Goyer and Keith Levine through their Phantom Four label.
