Following up on his recent solo effort “The Worst” along with his two collaborative singles with Giggs (“Lean”) and Headie One (“Warzone”), North-West London artist M Huncho, has released his latest pre-album record, tapping Alabama-born rap star Yung Bleu for “Who We Are”. Underpinning Benjamin Lasnier and Pilfinger’s slow-rolling trap production, this smooth, transatlantic effort sees the two rappers use their Auto-Tuned melodies in full effect as they rhyme about their new found fame and success, and what it took to achieve it. While there’s a great deal of synergy here, M Huncho seems more matured than ever, which makes us wonder if the same energy will be kept throughout his debut album, Chasing Euphoria, due May 20. The accompanying visuals, directed by Myles Whittingham, take us fro...
After a whirlwind 14 years in the electronic dance music industry, Carnage has announced his retirement at the age of 31. While his detractors will likely remember him only for his occasionally irascible offstage antics, most will—and should—celebrate Carnage as a pioneering electronic music producer. Carnage’s groundbreaking work in the early 2010s helped usher in a new genre called “festival trap,” a thunderous, 808-heavy twist on the saturated electro music that dominated festivals at the time. Buoyed by a thriving SoundCloud community, festival trap quickly became a movement—and Carnage was its vanguard. Although EDM was his bread and butter, Carnage’s brushstroke painted a far more colorful mosaic in the music community. He operated as a prolific hip-...
Tusla, Oklahoma is getting a museum dedicated to celebrating the work of Bob Dylan. Slated to open this weekend, the Bob Dylan Center will see Elvis Costello, Patti Smith and Mavis Staples attend the launch. Dylan himself, however, is not expected to be present, although the 81-year-old musician performed in Tulsa only a few weeks ago on one of the last dates of his Rough and Rowdy Ways tour. A multifaceted venue, the museum plans to offer both permanent collections and traveling exhibitions. After initiating visitors with an immersive film experience, they can step foot into a recreation of an authentic studio en...

Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament was a guest today (May 6) on The Bill Simmons Podcast, where he discussed the band’s long-awaited return to touring, his enduring NBA fandom, how he hopes the experience of recording the score for the new FX on Hulu show Under the Banner of Heaven will rub off on Pearl Jam and much more. Here are five things we learned from the conversation, which was taped the day after Pearl Jam’s tour-opening performance in San Diego on Tuesday. The band is back on stage tonight and tomorrow at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles in support of its 2020 album, Gigaton. Ament wants Pearl Jam to make shorter records and release them more frequently: Riffing on a Simmons question about how to keep an audience’s attention in the age of ephemeral TikTok memes, Ament said he and his bandm...
The first new Kathleen Hanna song in more than four years leads the track list for LAND ACT: Benefit for North East Farmers of Color, a charity album due for a June 3 release on Bandcamp. In the wake of the COVID-necessitated cancellation of Bikini Kill’s spring 2020 tour, Lyle says she and Cooler “wrote songs together remotely via file sharing and then asked a bunch of our friends to help us finish the songs.” Other artists making appearances on LAND ACT include Kim Gordon, Mike Watt, The Raincoats, The Linda Lindas, Deerhoof’s Satomi Matsuzaki, Slant 6’s Christina Billotte, Alice Bag, Kelley Deal and Shopping’...
Taylor Swift has released her second re-recorded 1989 song. “This Love (Taylor’s Version)” was previewed in the teaser trailer for the new Prime Video series The Summer I Turned Pretty. Hear the full song and see the trailer below. Back in August 2019, Swift pledged to re-record her first six albums following a deal that left the master rights to her catalog in the hands of Scooter Braun, who obtained them from Swift’s former label, Big Machine Label Group. (A little more than a year later, Braun’s Ithaca Holdings LLC sold Swift’s catalog to the private equity firm Shamrock Holdings.) So far, she has released new editions of Fearless and Red, as well as the “Taylor’s Version” of 1989’s “Wildest Dreams.” With the re-released Red, Swift landed her 10th No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200. Her 1...
