Five years after releasing his debut album Utopia, Darius has finally graced fans with another studio album, OASIS—and it’s a doozy. Staying true to his signature, euphonic sound that we all know and love, Darius still manages to bring a fresh perspective to his work in OASIS. Featuring far more vocal tracks than 2017’s predecessor, Utopia, the Roche Musique producer continues to enrapture the mind, delight the senses and inspire the body to dance with funky, ethereal beats. Though there are only five instrumental songs out of 14 total, it’s these tracks, which are devoid of lyrics, that anchor the record. “WINTER SADNESS” is an uncharacteristically slow-burning, languid jam with a bluesy cadence, while “GRAND LARGE” evokes classic Darius with upbe...

Last year was the year where life (partially) opened up again for the world. We were treated to some of the best albums that complemented the strongest discographies in world music and the recent times of festival season have proven that the world is now at a much more level playing field when it comes to showcasing talent on the biggest stages. Dave bagged his first headline slot at Manchester’s Parklife following his show-stopping album, We’re All Alone In This Together, while the new-gen of festivals across Europe showed that independent artists now have the pulling power to attract huge crowds overseas, without the help of labels and execs alike. There’s a huge and intriguing new batch of emerging talent to be discovered, along with new places to discover them. Where previous years hav...

In the wake of the news, Phoebe Bridgers opened up about her own experience getting an abortion and shared a link to The Cut’s list of abortion funds for people to make donations. Halsey also shared resources, writing, in part, “I...
During the pandemic, Mia Berrin of Pom Pom Squad jokingly put out a tweet (or at least it seemed like a joke) that she wanted to cover Nada Surf’s 1996 hit “Popular.” Well, she did exactly that. Pom Pom Squad released a version that remained true to the original, including filming the video with Berrin playing all of the characters (and even filmed at the same place) that replicated the original. Since Pom Pom Squad are one of our favorite rising artists [they performed at our SXSW showcase in March and were one of the night’s highlights] and the cover rules. That said, we figured we’d ask Berrin and Nada Surf’s Matthew Caws to hop on a chat for our Artist x Artist series. And they agreed! In their conversation, Berrin and Caws discussed learning new approaches to songwritin...
