Innovative Music Performance Allows Audience to See Real-Time Brain Activity of Dancers

There’s a perennial sense of fascination with what goes through the mind of a gifted performer. At professor Anthony Brandt’s innovative dance show “LiveWire,” attendees needed not wonder. That’s because in this particular show, the performers wore EEG caps, which monitored their brain waves throughout the performance and even incorporated their neural activity into the visual elements of the show. Presented by Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, the show, which the university has called the first of its kind, took place at the 2022 International Workshop on the Neural and Social Bases of the Creative Movement. Snap and Live Nation to Launch Augmented Reality Experiences at EDC Las Vegas

Snapchat and Live Nation have teamed up to create a series of custom concert experiences in the world of augmented reality, starting with EDC Las Vegas later this month. After inking the high-profile partnership, Snap and Live Nation will work together on AR content for over a dozen music festivals in 2022, including Austin City Limits, Beyond Wonderland, Bonnaroo, Day Trip, Lollapalooza, Rolling Loud, Governors Ball and more. Spotify Enters the Metaverse With Interactive Gaming Island on Roblox

Spotify on Tuesday announced that its entering the metaverse with Spotify Island on Roblox. As the first music-streaming platform to exist on Roblox, Spotify’s virtual universe will connect fans and artists across the globe in a “wonderland of sounds, quests, and exclusive merch,” according to the brand. The digital island takes on signature elements of Spotify’s branding with a primarily green layout, alongside colors and iconography that users will recognize from the app. Players will be able to collect heart-shaped “Like” icons in order to unlock merchandise and “climb the charts,” or rank on the game’s leaderboard. Cyndi Lauper Documentary Let the Canary Sing in the Works

Cyndi Lauper is the subject of a forthcoming career-retrospective documentary titled Let the Canary Sing. It’s directed by Alison Ellwood, who also oversaw the 2019 Go-Go’s documentary and a two-part documentary about the Laurel Canyon scene for Epix in 2020. The project does not yet have a release date, but is in production via Sony Music Entertainment’s Premium Content Division. According to a press release, Let the Canary Sing will cover the pop star’s ascent from her Queens upbringing to the top of the pop charts in the 1980s and beyond.
