Bennett spoke about the two videos and said, “Justin randomly texted me this song one day and said ‘Should we do a visual to this? song straight to number 1.’ We joked around about doing a video for it but never did.” He shared how the teaser and the actual video came about stating, “A few weeks later we were doing a pick up day for a video we had recently shot, but never finished (“Honest”). ...

From acid jazz and reggae to downtempo and bossa nova, Eric Hilton explored it all as one half of renowned electronic music duo Thievery Corporation.  Yet as a solo artist, Hilton’s true love lies with trip-hop. It’s a genre he helped to create with a pioneering approach to sound design, highlighted by ingenious sampling, moody synths and psychedelic lo-fi.  Now Hilton is taking an opportunity to revisit these roots with his newly announced Lost Dialect album, the titular track of which is out now. It’s a 10-track opus that, according to Hilton, consciously brought him back to his “early days” of producing trip-hop when he was “combining sample collages with grooves,” he tells EDM.com. Sorry Folks, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie Film Won’t Feature “Barbie Girl”

Greta Gerwig cast Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as picturesque Barbie and Ken lookalikes in her forthcoming live-action Barbie film, but one missing thing may keep the adaptation from reaching peak camp: According to Variety, Aqua’s 1997 song “Barbie Girl,” which immortalized the Mattel doll’s life in plastic as a suggestive pop song, won’t appear in the film. “The song will not be used in the movie,” Ulrich Møller-Jørgensen, who manages Aqua lead singer Lene Nystrøm, simply said. While Møller-Jørgensen’s curt statement doesn’t give us much to go on, the omission of “Barbie Girl” from the film may have something to do with Aqua’s strained history with Mattel. “Barbie Girl” became an instant classic upon its release, selling over 1.4 million copies in the US and staying at No. 1 in th...
