MATT SORUM Says Disintegration Of GUNS N’ ROSES’ ‘Use Your Illusion’ Lineup Was ‘Nobody’s Fault’

Although GUNS N’ ROSES never officially split up, guitarist Slash left in 1996, drummer Matt Sorum was fired in 1997 and bassist Duff McKagan quit later that year. Asked in a new interview with SPIN what misconceptions about the band he wanted to clear up in his autobiography, “Double Talkin’ Jive: True Rock ‘N’ Roll Stories From The Drummer Of Guns N’ Roses, The Cult, And Velvet Revolver”, Sorum said: “It’s nobody’s fault, really. The band was way too big at the time. There’s a lot of people with their paws in the pie, a lot of distractions, too much money, and too many drugs and alcohol. Young guys don’t make clear decisions. I look back and go, ‘If that was me now, I’d make a phone call and have a conver...

Brass Against Instructed to Perform in “No Pee Zone” at Opening Night of Tool Tour

Brass Against made headlines last year when singer Sophia Urista urinated on a fan onstage at the Welcome to Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, Florida. At the kickoff of their European tour with Tool on Saturday night (April 23rd) in Copenhagen, Denmark, Urista was reminded that the stage is a “no pee zone.” To quickly recap, Urista brought a male fan with a beer can taped to his head up onstage while Brass Against was performing a cover of Rage Against the Machine’s “Wake Up” during the Welcome to Rockville set in November. She told the fan to lay on his back, and proceeded to take down her pants and urinate into the can and onto the guy’s face. It led to multiple apologies from the band and Urista, a permanent ban from the venue, and even a police report. Tool had already booked Brass...

Sting, Who Was in a Band as a Grown Man, Thinks Grown Men Can’t Be in Bands

Bad news for a good portion of your dating app matches: Sting doesn’t think grown men should be in bands. The 70-year-old former Police frontman shared his thoughts on aging out of rock stardom in a recent interview with MOJO (via Tone Deaf), asserting that “a band is a teenage gang.” “I don’t think any grown man can be in a band, actually,” Sting said. “A band is a teenage gang. Who wants to be in a teenage gang when you’re knocking 70? It doesn’t allow you to evolve.” The self-proclaimed heavy metal singer continued: “You have to obey the rules and the gestalt of the band. As much as I love the [Rolling] Stones and AC/DC, it’s hard to see growth in their music.” Advertisement Related Video Sting conveniently glossed over the fact that he fronted The Police between the ages...

Better Call Saul Recap: When You Can’t Run Any Further

[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for Better Call Saul Season 6 Episode 3, “Rock and Hard Place.” For our recap of Episode 2, click here] Case Summary While other things happen in the third episode of Better Call Saul, “Rock and Hard Place” should be forever remembered as The Nacho Episode, for very good reason. Nacho isn’t the first series regular to perish over the course of the show’s run — that honor belongs to Chuck McGill (Michael McKean). But Michael Mando delivers a simply staggering performance in his theoretical swan song, facing a fate which might have seemed inevitable from the beginning, but is still heartbreaking to watch. Writer/director Gordon Smith delivers Nacho to his end with an episode so deliberately paced that the dread builds more and more with each de...
